A GT would kick the benz in any race.
Don't bet on it, the Benz might be heavy, but it has a LOT more power. In a drag race, the GT will lose, however sad it might be. In a circuit race with corners, the GT will win, quite obvious. The Benz isn't made for tight corners, just "high speed cruising and tearing up the asphalt".

What is the Benz's quarter mile time? Popular Mechanics did an acceleration test on a bunch of cars and the GT came in second. ( The S7 won) I'm not sure if the benz was tested but I still think the GT would win in a drag because of the way its geared and its lighter weight.

I just hope there is no automated start and that it is all down to reactions. If you jump the start you are DQ!

So true, without this feature its only about who has the fastest car, which would sux.

The quarter mile time for the Benz hasn't been measured yet. You are true about the weight, but the power (more than) compensates that. You are also true about the gearing, the CL65 now, as it is, uses a 5 gear speedshift. The future model, or at least a slight update, will make use of the 7tronic auto. But we're talking about the current model. While the gearing isn't optimal, the 1200Nm, converted to 1000Nm at the gears (to not break them, lol :P) still makes sure it has a good launch. Measurements go from 4.2 to 4.5 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint. Imagine what that would be with some better gearing. Traction would become a huge problem.
The 1/4 mile time for the Ford GT is ~12seconds. An estimate for the Benz is about the same. But the power throughout the rev range almost secures a faster time.

I'll take that bet. After some research on the Benz, I can tell you the AMG isn't going to be kicking jack. 0-60mph in 4.5? That's what MY car does STOCK, which is 3700lbs. My car is rated at 390hp, but was underrated from the factory, and actually put out around 425hp from the factory, stock.

The Ford GT has already dyno'd at 550 at the wheels, and weighs closer to 3000lbs. Sorry, but if GT4 is accurate in their vehicle performance, the MB will be in the rear mirror no matter where you want to compare it. 💡

I've seen the 1/4 times being in the 11 sec area on the GT. My car has been modified to 445rwhp/470rwtq (again, it weighs 3800+lbs with me in it), and has pulled a high 11 sec 1/4. There's no way my car will be faster than the new GT, which will have more power, and be lighter.

Lethalchem, you are underestimating the continious power of the Benz. I, by now, may sound a bit like a fanboy, but underestimating is what a lot of people do. You talk about horsepower. Horsepower mostly comes in at high rev range. For the lower range the torque is important. (although they are both figures of the same thing). The Benz has a bit more horsepower, and double the torque of the GT. While it only (lol, only) weighs a third more than the GT.

yes I cant wait to smoke all those big blocks, small blocks, RBs,SRs, 1.8, 2.0 whateva! .. with a 3 second gazillion horsepower hybrid Insight. VROOM haha. Well only if MK releases another save game hack progy.

I have seen reviews of the cl65 saying sixty in 3.9secs. Maybe they are off but that doesn't sound too wrong for a two ton car with 700lbft. Still I don't think it could touch the GT (I really wan't to say GT40). The GT is supercharged so it has to have a good amount of low end torque (it isn't a revving beast).

I've said it in another thread that dealt with the subject...

The only drag I'll be doing is what is necesary to complete GT4.

<sarcasm> To all those wanting, or feel the need to do 'drag' heaps, I think you are holding back some subliminal urges </sarcasm>

To be honest, I may actually be experimenting with this track. Just to see how fast I can fast in time and speed of the car down the track.

Seriously, I hope PD have more than just 1 drag track. Would be even cooler if there was a FULL Las Vegas track, and that other tracks could have a drag on them.

Nurburgring, front stretch.

Temporary drag strip. Sweet. 👍

I think drag races are an important part of racing society, especially here in North America. It's like NASCAR, even if you don't like it it's still racin.

I can't wait for it.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I think adding drag racing would be a cool addition to the GT4! I would use McCutey for the drag strip! :O 👍 But I would probably like to use the American cars better though! 👍 Camaro SS and the Hemi Cuda would probably be my favorites.

Drag racing should be included because I believe it SURE is important to Americans! I remember watching the SPEED channel and they were giving some history of how the drag racing became popular and also how those serious American Muscle cars came into the scene. Good show ! Adding Drag racing will help add more history to racing! :O

Nascar isn't racing!

Just kidding.

But seriously I hate NASCAR!!!!

I dont expect you to like drag racing. No one outside of America seems to understand the stoplight to stoplight drag. I mean sure top speed is nice but how often are you gonna be able to reach it? When you pull up to a guy at a stoplight the only thing to do is mash the gas and pull away. Drag racing rules, thats why I bought IHRA Drag Racing 2 because its the one thing GT was missing.

(I'm not saying street racing is ok.)

I'll not going to do lots of drag racing. Just what's needed to complete the game 100% and maybe some drags against my friends (not online no broadband) but it will not turn out as my favorite rcing type in the game.

I respect drag, and to those who think a stock Civic DX can Outrun a 5.0L Mustang, you are ricing FOOLS. That's it.

See ya :sly:

I don't dishate Drag, I think watching the NHRA top-fuel class (aka rails) is interesting, and if there were a couple of rails capable of 4.5secs @ ~300+ mph in the game I'd probably do a little more Drag.

Otherwise I'm more happy trying to decrease lap times on a track lap after lap after lap in pursuit of the perfect lap. That's more of a challenge...

nothing like seeing a 300mph top fueler :)

might not be much for a good game... but still it cant take that much to include a drag strip anyway...

I'll only be Drag Racing as much as I have to because Drag Racing equals just that: a Drag. What is so exciting about driving in a straight line for crying out loud? I'd rather watch paint dry or grass grow than go to a Drag Meeting. But since you need to do it to complete GT4, I guess I'll have no choice ...

I love NASCAR... NR2003 is actually an excellent game. The TPTCC mod on the La Sarthe curcuit from 67 (no chicanes!) is a world of fun. I play it all the time. A lot of the other tracks suck, but at least La Sarthe is amazingly fun to play.

BTW NASCAR is hard to race in because you are making such simple turns that you have to do them perfectly to go fast.

If I even bother to get the Online Disc, I sure as won't be Dar Racing online. I'd much rather ahve a sensible, challenging race.

Drag racing won't be what I will play online for. I can't wait to try some real races with some of the fast drivers I know around GTP.

Did you hear about a new GTP mod for it?

looks amazing! rain, night time racing and all, in a MOD.

Hmmm....Do you guyz think that drag racing will be popular online? I remember reading many topics about how NFS:U's online popularity is Drag Racing. :odd: Do you guyz think that drag racing will be popular than track racing in GT4 (online)? :odd: :O
