A car gt4 should include for drag racing, if they can find any left, is an 1968 a-bomb. Fibreglass front panels, 500 + hp hemi, light weight drums, no way to open the windows, and capable of 10 seconds 1/4 times straight from the dealer.
PhatFatI'm gonna love the drag racing in GT4 but unfortently you probbaly won't be able to tune cars quite like a drag only game. I mean I doubt you can get tranny brakes or different fuels etc.![]()
Race IdiotDrag racing, in GT at least doesn't exite me that much thanks to Europes love of circuit racing. The umpteen amount of corners from international circuits will always be more appealing to me, well at least in a Videogame. In real life however I have respect for it as a form of motorsport that almost anyone can compete in that does require a certain amount of skill with reaction and shifting etc. If I had to drag anything, it would be the English built and designed Ford RS200 Evo, 4wd mid engined, 1.8 turbo making around 600bhp with a weight of around 1000kgs it should kick a fair amount of arse. Although i'd rather be thrashing it around a rally track.
PhatFatAny real drag car would kick this. Rally cars would be able to beat street cars in a drag but no a true drag car. Real drag cars have 800+ horsepower and tires wider than a civic.

LastHoursThe fact is people, we all are terrified by American mucsle when it comes to drag racing. A 426 Hemi with just a racing cam can make 650 HP! Americans are no doubt the best in drag racing. But I wouldn't mind running my Corolla AE86 with 500 HP downt the strip! lol.
I wonder if PD is considering adding cars like that to GT4.PhatFatAny real drag car would kick this. Rally cars would be able to beat street cars in a drag but no a true drag car. Real drag cars have 800+ horsepower and tires wider than a civic.
The best I've seen for the Ford GT was a 11.30.powripperoh, and just to end this silly SL56 AMG vs Ford GT fight, I looked for 1\4 mile time for both, and the bset I found were:
SL65 AMG (604 hp and 700+ ft-lb) : 11.74
Ford GT (500hp and around 500 ft-lb) : 11.78
so as you can see, very close! but considering the 0-60 time is much slower on the benz, it must have some pretty mean acceleration to catch up to the ford, so I would say, after the 1\4 mile the benz would just keep pulling away...
Probably because we like our races to be challenging and last longer than a few seconds. Putting a car round a track the fastest you can is hell of a lot more advanced and challenging than a 1/4 mile through the gears sprint. That's why it's only a US thing, no-one else sees the point in it. I respect drag racing buit I don't rate it. Just the way we europeans are I guess. We like our cars to do more than straight lines, we like to perfect our racing line, we like to take a corner on the apex and power out, we sure as hell just don't wanna rev, drop the clutch and change up a few gears at the right time and that's it. We want more of a challenge.PhatFatYou Europeans will never understand drag racing. You don't race Mercedes Coupes or Rally cars. An 8 second drag car could be built for way less money. This corvette runs the 1/4 in about 8.49 seconds and cost $35,000 and the mustang 7.96 for $60,000.
Yeah, I think that's because we grow up seeing two different things. Here in America drag racing is very popular and we love it. Do you guys in Europe have dragsters like our 4 second ones?_ajProbably because we like our races to be challenging and last longer than a few seconds. Okay, thanks._ajThere is a european drag series full of these cars, they're shown on men and motors usually at the late hours. I remember hearing about 4 and 5 seconds but I turned it over to eurosport and watched GT racing instead.
stumpydinowhile the top fuel dragsters are good an' all, they all look the same, i prefer the street eliminator cars, just pushing road legal, who wouldnt want to drive something like this on the road![]()

BAZZBut, i will look forward to see what PD have done with it. Personally, id like to see one championship that involve multiple types of racing. Track race(with more then two turns)/drag/drifting(?)/etc and only one setup allowed through the whole championship.
Overall, it will be quite fun to see how much the cars have evolved the last 40 years or so.
DeltaS4I think it's good thing. Now we can beat American cars with European or Japanese cars in drag race!
