Jaguar XKR (premium) comfort hard tyres, + sports suspension nice and easy to controll no turbo so plenty of low down torque, great point to start learning.or if 4wd is your thing the Cusco Impreza (premium) with a bit of power tuning & some hand brake turn-in is realy easy to get some good smoke going on !!.
Just remember drifting isnt all about smashing the throttle ! try a drift room online (Most are Tsukuba or suzuka east) If you get a good room there will be someone there who will follow you and give a few pointers once your good with that go and drift whatever & wherever you want. (I use a Lexus SC430) just to be different

Try a BMW M3 '07 or the Honda NSX Type R '02

They will easily drift, keep them stock - apart from the suspension, get fully customisable and follow the tips from previous posts and also equip the cars with Comfort Hard tyres.

Tsukuba is the best circuit to practise on for a beginner.

Remember don't go too fast entering corners, these two cars should keep you on track, great beginner cars and can be developed further for pro drifters aswell (I think of myself as amateur :P )

Hope this helps!

Japanese Classics on comfort tires are a pretty good starting point as they are lightweight and easy to toss around. They break traction without too much effort and have just enogh power to keep wheelspin going without spinning out. For the record. Some of the advice above is pretty lame and definitely wont help. It's mostly about dialing in more or less power until you find your comfort zone. Starting with a personal fave at around 400+ is a good option if your not into Japanese Classics. Definitely start slowly in lower pp cars though.

I was doing some racing online a while back w/ a friend, and we found that RX7s slide REALLY nice (although controlling the drift can get a bit hairy...). Another car that worked great bone stock was a Mercedes SL500...I was getting great speed around Trial Mountain, and taking most corners sideways w/ huge clouds of smoke.

Most FR cars are good for drifting but when it comes to tuning them there are a few points you should consider. I use a wheel but I think you can adapt your car's settings to work good with a controller:

- Try to lower the suspension as far as it can go. You will also need to stiffen the suspension a little to make up for the lowered ride height. It's also a good idea to make the rear suspension considerably softer than the front.

- Lock the differential (Set 60 for everything) to offer a little more control in your slides.

- Increase toe-out for the front tyres and increase toe-in for the rear tyres

- Probably the most important of all, make sure your car has comfort hard tyres. Otherwise you will find it hard to get your car sliding.

- Make sure your car has a decent amount of bhp too. Or your car won't be sliding either.

- Make front anti-roll bars stronger at the front

- Increase dampeners in the rear.

That's all the points I can think of. Happy drifting 👍 .

MSTER232 and SCUD77 thank you both so much for the advice. I bought the Jaguar XKR and used MSTER232's settings and for the first time I got the gold on a Drift Trial! I couldn't believe it when I got the bronze on my 2nd try. 3rd try and I had the silver. I few more attempts and I got the gold. The best I had ever done before on a Drift Trial was a bronze after about half an hour of desperate trying and clueless attempts at tuning. I never would have thought of locking the diff, but it works so well.

Thanks again guys,

sorry, I haven't even touched the drift trial yet.......but I bought the AEM S2000 (i bought it cuz its a great drivers car and the AEM color looked really cool) . i gave it a try at the suzuka circuit and it was drifting just like that!! it was incredible fun.....and its pretty powerful as well :D .My pointy is.....why don't u just get a car that was made to drift in the first place then?......and u can probably fine-tune it too if u find something that doesn't suit ur driving style! well, i don't fancy drifting that much , cuz i just love 4WD machinces xP

After winning nür 24h in a McLaren f1, I decided to start drifting... What are the best cars and best tracks?

Btw......i bought the Mclaren F1 after my Lamborgini Murcielago LP670-4 SV (which im in love with) . my driving style has developed around 4WD machines and so when i bought this MR monster (i don't use ANY assists except maybe TCS and ABS =1) and i was sliding all over the place after i fully tuned it......i know it looks cool, but it slows u down and wears ur tyres. Basically, i need tips to get the most out of my Mclaren.......cuz i too , have always worshiped that car. could i count on ur help , please?

Darkblaze, check the Gran Turismo forum over on IGN. woody has a truly godly McLaren F1 setup over there, which can hang with anything short of a Formula car.

Go over to the tuning forum and look up Team Shmo Drifting. A garage dedicated to drifting 👍

Floor the suspension, max out df, aids are useful on an unstable car like this, the instability will turn into agility. The power is very direct, acceleration is very high at even low rpm, so throttle control is VERY important! This is a slightly oversteery car, remember that!
