I was wondering if anyone drifted some of the higher end cars. I set up a jaguar xlj20 and the aston martins. They ware fun to drift with, since the stock power is more than enough to get it sideways. Also long turns are easier since you can enter with more speed, bbut harder since the throttle control is much more acute. Well i was wondering what you guys thought about drifting these higher end vehicles. Also i will post my settings for them if anyone wants them...

It depends on what you mean "high end" . Technically the horsepower doesn't matter. It's the power to weight ratio that you should be worrying about. And yes I have drifted with these cars, very entertaining to use ^^

C-M-D's done some stuff with the Vanquish, and the Speed 6 too.
Personally if I want to go 'high-end' I take out a race car, the RX-7 LM for one, though a 500+ hp C-West Razo Silvia can be very, very entertaining as well.

sorry about lack of info. i meant like luxury class. lotus, jaguar, lamborghini. Speaking of lamborghini anyone have any setting for the diablo?

Well the Vipers are very fun drift cars, and easy to use. You can take a stock viper GTS (whatever the road one is) and drift it like mad with no mods.

The Aston Martins, mainly the Vanquish are powerful FR cars but heavy as anything. You can drift them but ever with all weight reduction they re still heavy pigs and when they get away from you they really get away from you.....Rather hard for learning to control the weight transfer with such a heavy car.

I prefer the RUF RGT (surprise, surprise) as a drift car. Maybe because I've driven it more than any car in the game and know it inside and out setting-wise and feel-wise but I can style drift with it and/or race drift and/or rally drift with it...it does it all. The RUF CTR2 is also a good one to drift, though more in a race drift sense.

The Lotus Elise, mainly the 190, are very tail happy cars but hard to control if youa re learning. I personally love the 190 but wouldn't recommend you starting out drifting or racing with it.

The BMW in the game is about the same as the Aston Martins, heavy and hard to control when it gets away from you...but fun at times.

The Gillet Vertigo is a fun car to slip around a race track, especially for style drifting due to it's amazing front end grip and extreme tail happy nature.

All of the Mercs can be drifted, even though a few of them are more like tanks or boxcars in a drift.

The road Zondas are fun to style drift with, though they need alot of tuning to get the weight down and tail free, but they are good fun.

Pretty much any car can be "drifted"...it is all about settings.

Yea high end cars are great to drift with. the only thing i have against it is that with a high end car basically its all throttle control no matter what line your taking. all your doing is relying on the power of the car. well this is just my preference. i like to keep my cars as realistic as possible for drifting.

Ummmm, isn't that true with anycar from low or high end? It shouldn't make a difference what make is on the hood or how much the car cost...drifting is drifting...

I think it is all style in what you prefer. I'm not into Japanese cars much, I much primarily prefer german cars (Porsche, RUF, VW mainly) and then Italian makes (Ferrari, Pagani, Maseratti, Fiat). I'd rather have a Porsche 911 GT3 as a drift car than any toyota or Nissan...but that is me.

Oddly enough I am considering a Mazda Miata as a track car and given it's Fr nature it would probably also become a drift car at times just for kicks....I really want an older Porsche Boxster S, but the price difference it ALOT, go figure.

well nice to see such diverse replies to this thread. I personally like the "drift cars", but when i jus wana cruise around and do some freestyle like to use the higher end cars. True some of the cars are heavy, but i like to have a challenge on every turn, makes it much more interesting. I feel that if i could drift every corner with everycar perfect it would no longer be fun. The throttle control and shifting ( if u use manual as i do) and all the other aspects make the game more fun. Though spinning out is a pain, it will get you motivated to keep going until you get it down pat.

wait a minute, luxury and lotus doesnt belong in the same sentence! ive known most all lotuses to be preformance based.

Yeah the Gillet was the first race car I drove in GT3, it was the first car I actually won in a race situation (to win it I used a Mazda RX-8 from the all-gold A license, and won the amateur European GT championship). I then used the Gillet to win the pro World GT Championship, and a few other things afterwards. As a result of driving it so early in my GT3 experience, I developed a preference for it's handling traits. Light and pointy. As a result I also love driving cars like the Lotus Elises, Oreca viper etc.

The trick to driving the Gillet is basically diving into the corner carrying a lot of speed (without braking too late), and hope the rear end follows you. It's great fun.

Yup, you need to be very precise with the front wheels (stay off the curbs as much a syou can too since the car is so light) on the vertigo and turn in early and ease it around the apex with the brakes then ease onto the throttle on the exit, if you master that the car rewards you very nicely. It does carry speed through the corner easily though.

Definately not a car for people who turn in late or stright line brakers (it works but you was not using the potential of the car).

As for drifting, do the same as above but use more brake and throttle and the back end will break loose quite easily.

The Austin Martin V8 Vantage is a fantastic drift car, as far as heavy luxury cars go.... As well as the other Austin Martins...

The Jaguar XJ220 can be a lot of fun, but it's MR layout can make for a bit of excessive understeer at times... If you set it up well, it can be a blast, and looks beautiful in replays...

The BMW 325ci is a very under-rated drift car... It's a little heavy, but has great response... Here's a short preview of the car in action:

I enjoy drifting in the r390 road car. (Couldn't ever imagine it in real life). The back end flies out easy, but it is still very responsive. On top of that it is crazy fast.

Nice! I never was a BMW fan but am warming up to them recently in the GT series and real life. I'm looking forward to the bigger BMW selection in GT4.

I have a real life vid of a bunch of BMW's trying to drift. Some of the owners (the ones with older cars) were going at it, others (usually brand new cars) were being wusses.

I drift the Astons, a full-tune V8 Vantage and Vanquish, and a DB7 Vantage and V8 Vantage both stock on sims.

Tried the XJ200(road and race cars)...couldn't get the hang of it. A tuning work in progress. Never tried an XKR.

Have an RGT and 3400S. Can't figure out what's up with the CTR, as far as setup goes.

I love the TVRs. I have three Tuscans(speed drift, exhibition, stock on sims), and a Speed 12(hard to drive!!!!). I have a grip Griffith 500 that I want to convert to drift, too.

I've been meaning to try the BMW. Just never got around to it.

good as useual 👍

I have the most fun with drifting the Aston and the S-Class Benz. Tons of power, big sweeping drifts, and lots of smoke.... plus, the benz looks nice in white with chrome rims and there's a few nice colors with the Aston.
