Drifting with Manual or Automatic

Lifewater... What are you doing?.... Learn manual now... It's completely worth it... That is why you can't get very big angle.... You don't have enough control over the engine....

and to anyone saying MT is unecessary because there isn't a clutch, you are severely missing the point.... With auto you do not have complete control over the engine response.... Some of the drifts I have performed would have been almost impossible with AT.... There is no excuse not to learn MT.... Yeah, it takes some getting used to (like anything else in this world worth learning), but it is essential for drifting especially....

Put the time in to learn MT... It doesn't take that long to get used to.... I would be happy to help anyone having trouble making the switch....

Yeah, but for me I just quit and select manual, I tried drifiting with AT, and I sucked big time

i try using 900 degree to drift, but is impossible for me. maybe more pratice

as i've said before, i dont find the need to use manual unless the car is really underpowered.

i prefer auto, especially when in 900 mode.

If the DFP had a normal 6 gear box, and a clutch, I'd switch without a problem. You should know I prefer manual irl, my Del sol is manual It's weird just flipping up or down and going into a gear automatically. At least in the real world the clutch sort of slows down the whole shifting process. Also I lose sense of what gear I should be in, and sometimes I shift needlessly. I could learn MT, but I think my angles are pretty good for an AT drifter

Indeed, your angles are good for an AT user..... As far as losing a sense of what gear you should be in....

That's just because you have been using AT for too long... Just like anything else, you have to learn, or in your case, unlearn.... Not to mention, having to shift makes your mind more alert of what you are doing, and makes you really feel like a part of the car.... I agree that we should have a clutch, but that doesn't change the fact that you still hame more control over the car using MT.... As I said before there really isn't any good excuse not to switch to MT... It will take some time to get used to (especially since you have used AT for so long), but it is imperative to your growth as a drifter IMO....

I really think you should spend at least a week getting used to MT... treat it as an experiment.... Just try it, I personally guaranty you will improve with this extra tool in your belt....

Don't get me wrong.... I am in no way saying you are a bad drifter. On the contrary, I think you are a fantastic drifter... I just think you cannot fully unleash your potential without having full control of the vehicle....

i need to use manual cause I use a shift lock technique...

and noone start argueing that you can't shift lock on GT3 cause I had proved it back in december or sometime...

How do you shift lock? I was under the impression you needed a clutch to do a shift lock, and if theres no clutch, its just a simulated clutch lock and not a real one correct? But lets not argue that. How exactly do you do a shift lock in GT3?

here how ill prove it...

say ur in any gear and u tap the e-brake and do nothing else... the car will continue at the current speed only to be slowed down by maybe 1mph every 100-200 feet due to wind resistence and tire resistance on the road...

but go in any gear and then down shift and the car will begin to slow down very quickly because the engine is causeing resistance.... ableing u to use the shift lock technique....

it works best w/ a feint style of drifting....

correct me if i was wrong.. but shift lockin is poppin the clutch in order to cause a "jolt" through the tranny and upset the rear end... what u describe sound liek plain engine brakin

yes but if ur traveling as a significant speed.. droppinbg one gear will disrupt the rear wheels making them lose traction and in a GT way performing the shift lock technique...

But thats why we drift on GT3... its cheap, no need to buy tires or body panels or even new engines..
its legal.... duh

I'm glad you said something, because I was about to post a big long explanation as to why it is nothing like "shift-lock"....
