Sad that such a great game has been spoilt by SRF, and just because of what it is named it is a refered to as a cheat. But if you had supper soft tyres that gave you the extra grip, I bet everybody would of used them.

Online racing is now sadly divided into two groups where if you use it you are refered to as a "noob" or a rookie, FUNNY this must be the only racing game where rookies or noobs are faster than the so called PROS???

Would be nice to see it removed out the game. Same level of grip with just realistic aids as optional.

Anyway be it as it may, racing to me is about laptimes and if I am rated as a noob or a rookie for lapping the Ring in 5:15 in a LM car and 5:52 in a DTM then so be it. But is faster not better ?

Unfortunatley i use tcs 1 or 2, abs 1, and srf on
I kbow i should ween myself off it but i've got way to used to using it. Plus as i'm in the middle of a heavy exam period i'm no longer playing for 2 hours or even just an hour and i find that srf makes it so much easier to litterally jump in the car and relax and enjoy the racing opposed to having to focus on not sliding and throttle control

On topic. I find that too much aids will slow you down but none at all slows me down more (but not to a slow pace, i'm still reasonably good)

It all depends on the person and how they normally drive. Someone who uses aids will be slower without them as will someone who doesnt use them if you forced them to use them. Just enjoy racing. If you want a sim, get a full rig or go racing at a track. I'll keep my game for now

Well... If you did said time using SRF, then yes, it's noobish. And the point is that in that case, you are not fast, the computer is... And furthermore, the same level of grip cannot be created with realistic aids, because it completely bends all the rules of physics.

So is this not a computer virtual racing GAME, The game cannot simulate each cars griplevel in real conditions anyway.

So when you look at your laptimes you think you fast? I would rather be a fast noob then a dreaming PRO.

SRF is the magical hand of God holding your car down to the track. If I make a room online, you best believe the driving line and skid recovery force are off. After all, Gran Turismo 5 is The Real Driving Simulator as advertised. I strive for realism. I leave TCS, ASM, ABS up to the other players, because they are used in real cars, though I myself never use anything but ABS on 1.

It's funny because I still join random rooms and see other players with every aid on, including ABS on 10, and still can't drive worth a 🤬.

Actually, yes, it can. And anyways, I'm not trying to tell you or anyone else how to play your game. Just don't get any illusions of being a fast driver if you use SRF. :)

Well dream on, play it any which way you like. But laptimes sort the Dreamers from the Racers.

The problem with using srf is that it masks the true character of the car you are driving. The beauty of gt5 imo is in the subtleties of the physics engine. Every car is unique and offers a new driving experience. Srf blurs these subtleties and drains the uniqueness from each car.

At the same time I think srf is an excellent aid. It allows beginners - who unfamiliar with the techniques required to truly be a fast driver - to experience the speed and fun of gt5 without too much initial frustration. When my girlfriend plays I turn on srf.
