Here is my review of the game even though I have only played for a couple days and am only level 18. Since my finals are next week I've been studying for them pretty much all day
Gran Turismo 5. It's what we've all been waiting for, but has it been worth the wait? The quality of racing and the thrill of fighting for the top spot has completely surpassed my expectations and provides a huge amount of the most important part of a video game: fun. Driving genuinely feels like you're in the cockpit (And from my experience, that's without a wheel, I can only imagine how it feels with a wheel!) and although the damage hasn't been implemented perfectly, small details like the shaky view at high speeds, the bump and resulting chaos during a crash, and the ever-changing weather and environment all serve to immerse you in GT5's awe-inspiring realism.
Sadly, this cockpit experience can only be played in about 200 of the over 1000 cars in the game, one of the biggest and only drawbacks for this immense game. The difference in detail between the 200 premium cars and 800 standard cars is shocking and disappointing, to say the least. Want to change the rims on your favorite car? You better hope its a premium car, as even the seemingly easy act of changing the wheels on a standard car is impossible. The level of detail between the two cars can be seen clearly, and the whole notion of having two separate sections for cars in the game gives the game an unfinished feel.
Although the huge difference between standard and premium cars is unsettling, all is forgotten when you get in a race against 15 other cars, all of you fighting for an edge over the competition. Although this may be contrary to the general consensus on GT5, I think the best part of Gran Turismo is the pure fun of driving, rather than the huge amount of fluff in the game. I couldn't care less about 1000 cars, changing rims, and grinding for hard earned cash, as long as the game is FUN. If you go into the game with an open mind, looking to have a great time with a machine you will probably never be able to drive in real life, Gran Turismo 5 will please you to no end. On the other hand, if you go into the game nitpicking on details that you feel should be implemented, that will only draw from the actual fun to be had racing.
Overall, Gran Turismo 5 will appease us fans for years to come. The steep learning curve and the seemingly endless chase for golds, not to mention the online racing, provide endless replayability. Gran Turismo 5 is not the perfect game in terms of content, but you would be hard pressed to find a more realistic, yet fun game on the track.
9/10 👍
I just wasted about 10 minutes I should have used for studying. Oh well, it was fun

Good luck to all!
