IMO, dubstep is dead. Too many artists and tracks flooding the market. This can be seen really easily in a producer's/artist's point of view. TL;DR, its kinda too late for dubstep.
I discovered dubstep around 3 months ago and I've been hooked since. I don't really know how to describe it.. Electronic-ie. So here's some of my favorites:
Cragga - Please Mr Postman remix
prefer DnB over dubstep, mostly crossover genre stuff tho, artist like Cooh, Counterstrike, SPL, DJ Hidden, Eye-D, Current Value, The Outside Agency and so on
Someone from UKFforums-
i think the real problem is that the word 'Dubstep' doesn't really mean anything anymore. I can completely sympathise with people getting frustrated about it, but i love to hear new styles of music being created and developed all the time, even if i don't like the resulting genre in the end.
What's really sad is that so many people think they hate dubstep, when really what they hate is things like skrillex, datsik, borgore etc. and they haven't even had a chance to listen to the likes of skream, digital mystikz, kromestar, distance etc. (for the record, I like both of these styles but i'm just making a point)
What we really need to do is forget the word dubstep altogether, and give several new names to the different styles, but i really don't think that's gonna happen!
NissanSkylineN1Today, I was met with a surprise. Dubstep is almost dead. Yes, that is right. In my opinion, dubstep will be the new hop-hop/ dance music as popular as it is today. With new artists emerging and making terrible songs, in my opinion, dubstep is dead. Almost everyone I speak to starts bragging how they love dubstep. In the back of my head, I was like "Ohhh myy gooddd.... its gonna be dead." I think that I will now go hide in a cave and listen to drum and bass, which is likely to not be ruined IMO.
ive been listening to dubstep for a few years now n i think the complete opposite! You need to get out there and start listening to upcoming artists...dont just listen to all the mainstream stuff, because i find that nearly all the mainstream stuff (not just dubstep) these days is just the same (as they say different toilet same...) its the underground scene that got me hooked on dubstep and i still am...even though i discovered it from dnb! Have a look at other forms of dubstep as well...
Personally i like some of the chilled beats such as eskmo, submerse, von d etc
and if you do liked chilled beats search liquid dnb in youtube...your ears will thank you!
Oh and for all you dub heads search 'boiler room' i would post a link but im using the gtplanet app so i cant!
Just what i mean when the upcoming artists are bringing a new smell to dubstep...!
Britney Spears killed dubstep.
You guys like opinions right
I can't see what is so popular about dubstep. Then again, I can't see why 3/4s of the top 40 are even there. I love my drum and bass and trance / house but this is just so, extreme, but not in the great "awesome surfer dude" way.
Radio 1 in the UK did a show one Monday and basically just said its just beats sped up with a ton of sound effects added. Chris Moyles then and there made your typical Dubstep track without even trying. I guess I'm becoming more of an old fart now, this stuff just isn't good to my ears.
