what is "right" depends on your screen setup and distance. the default FM3 setting is although closer to real FOV on a single screen, the lack of peripheral vision has a dramatical impact on your sense of speed. So when played on a single screen you actually need a wider FOV to compensate for it. although it might be in numbers not as real, but the overall effect I believe is indeed better.

I always prefer FOV like FM4's default, one things the sense of speed is more pronouced, another I can see the side mirror.

I totally understand what you're saying and it makes sense. It's just the more realistic view helps me put the car exactly where i want to on the track. Not having to compensate for a distortion. What I REALLY need/want (not need, I'll be honest WANT and WANT badly , lol) is a 3 screen setup. I think the wife would kill me though although she's given me the thumbs up to buy a cockpit to replace my homemade rig.

Just getting ready to post this. I'm not really liking the camera angle in cockpit view. Seems like they just want to show more of the car at the expense of a real camera angle. I think FM3 had it right. Feels like I'm that guy Edd China from that show Wheelers Dealers

If it works like FM3 did, then the FoV will be adjustable for the cockpit view, so that shouldn't be much of a problem...

That was a workaround though, and one that will freeze your xbox if you don't have an Ethernet cable plugged in, I expect a more formal adjustment option this time. actually if height and back/forth can be adjusted it will be very neat.

Yeah the height was missing in FM3. Pretty much make it like a modern day adjustable driver seat and let the user do what they want to do. Maybe even a "lense" of sort to mess with how much distortion you want

Well, I had the Xbox connected to my laptop most o the time when playing FM3, so I didn't really notice the freezing... But yeah, it was a workaround. Just putting an option that does the same into the options menu would be neat.

Well I'll be the only one with kinect I suppose.

Hopefully it's just a matter of how I tune it.
Can you look up and down, near or far with kinect in forza. I know the hardware will allow it but will forza?

Dunno, I've only seen a left/right move done by Kinect. I'm actually thinking about getting Kinect for FM4, too, but I'll have to waait and see whether that's worth it.

When you got little kids it's easy to get it past the mrs. Lol.

The cockpit adjustment may be a work around, but it is indeed a feature and it worked just fine (did for me no problem).

AND the proper camera angles like in the show! It's so good to see something being done RIGHT.

Let me correct you......its good to see soooo many things done right. Its amazing what the devs can do when they have communication with their fans and listne to the like and dislikes.

I actually used the Mrs. as my excuse to purchase Kinect. "Oh ya they have tons of fitness games that will keep you in shape!"

So my wife continues to look sexy, and I have the best peripheral on the market! Lol.

Yeah, they probably didn't implement all the changes that were asked for in FM3, probably because they were working on FM4 to do just that: Deliver what their customers asked for :)

so i'm assuming a wii fit is somewhere collecting dust? lol!!!

Forza motorsport evolves with time, each one tries something to improve on the last, sometimes it works, sometimes not. Messing with code in patches sometimes create more problems than it fixes (maybe eating into FM4 Dev time?). Customers rarely understand both those concepts, but that's part of the "I want now" mentality.

Yeah, I know. I mean, I can understand some of the complaints that arose when going from FM2 to FM3, but I think that the franchise made staggering progress since its release in 2005 - I think it developed further in those six years then GT did in the 14 years since its debut on the PS1.

I'm pleased they've upped the presentation and lighting. Can't wait for the next Xbox to see what they do. I've said it before but they seem to be working very hard towards being unbeatable in the future. I really think T10 have everything covered and are very savvy.

I agree. I mean I understand the complaints too, mostly and mainly with the online structure, but some of the talk was down and outright stupid. As if the franchise did nothing in all that time. A lot was done between 2 and 3.

I guess I would rather have different levels of car quality than have them leave out my front wheel drive 80s Celica. Which is what would have happened.
Guess I will always be a GT fan as it's what got me interested in cars almost 13 years ago.

wait, what? Are you guys saying the FM franchise is only 6 years old!? If so, then the work by T10 is very impressive!
(full disclosure - I felt suckerpunched by the GT5 game from believing all of the prerelease hype of how great this game would play for me. I am approaching FM4 with caution in comparison but I will buy the game once I have a decent wheel).
:)

Forza 1 was released in 2005, compared to GT1, which launched in 1998.

Just to emphasize on this: Forza 1, 2 and 3 where all released in the time it took PD to get from GT4 to GT5.

So yeah, almost every FM thread goes to the stupid GT vs FM discussion,so be proud of yourselves.

In topics regarding FM4 I have to say that the "Dynamic difficulty" is something that I'm eager to see,for the *eagle eye viewer*,I started to notice that the game reads the player's racing line and speed(closer look to the Sim racing Demo),also the shaking effect is correct in faster cars(not unbearable camera shaking like in Shift 2)and AI overall seem now correct.

And Turn10 must withdraw the driving aid ,or at least make it be able to be disable.

Plenty of things to discuss that are actually important and you guys goes down to FM vs GT :indiff:

(I'm just realising that I'm starting to hate the FM fandom and not the game itself)

Well, looking through the FM4 threads, it seems that you can't read two pages without someone stating that the game is rubbish because... Well, without an actual reason, to be quite honest. Because it looks 'wrong', it's 'just an uprade', yada yada, you get my idea, I think...

And then he's just as guilty of other GT/Sony fans of baiting by stirring the pot and bringing it to a GT vs FM debate... so it's one of those.

The irony is he's now preaching blasphemy on Forza fanboydom but can't see his very own which is far bigger than what he's pointing at

To you it may be a stupid discussion but to most of us it is a good discussion and comparison. It makes for some interesting debates.

I would have hoped that Scaff would have cleaned out house on the last 4-5 threads here with all the GT5 off topic banter. :(

I don't know you guys but:

>GT5 fans should stay in GT5 playing GT5
>FM fans should be playing FM and actually discussing FM4(in this case)

The discussion over FM vs GT first appeared in GT5 forums back at the day and it was plain rubbish(I used to be one of those stupid fans),the problem is that at this point GT and FM are complete different games, having own and play both games I have to say that I like GT over FM but because of the Nurburgring 24 and Lemans 24 experiences(also F1),which are just simple personal preferences and do not reflect a general consensus, which is the whole point of the FM vs GT threads and fights all about.

At this point FM vs GT is just a point of discussion that trolls take advantage of,it is obvious,my point is that both sides can be correct, but the differences between both games are significant and therefore makes discussion invalid(i.e. its like comparing COD and BF games, are under the same war thing, but they are complete different games, how can you discuss flight mechanics on COD when there isn't any).

This lends me to a conclusion,if you like FM discuss FM,if you like FM and GT, discuss FM and if you like GT then go over GT forums section,so many things that needs to be ask and revised about FM(no one has notice yet the controller re mapping and a potential sharper rewind function, and the career structure and more stuff from trailers and videos).

Edit:

Mods do not revise these treads due to these kind of situations, they got fed up in discussions of this kind on GT5 section that they do not longer care, and actual "interesting discussion" is just a mixture of BS and facts.
