By a factor of nearly 2 to 1, Internet voters at Consumer Reports have voted for Electronic Arts over Bank of America at the 'Worst Company in America 2012' finals.

EA later made this response just 80 minutes after the announcement:

"We're sure that British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren't nominated this year. We're going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide."

EDIT: Thanks to Ddrizle for the full tournament chart!

Awesome.

I mean, oh no that's just absolutely terrible. How dare they?

They (more or less) deserve having the title of "Worst Company in America 2012". Ever since (in my opinion) NFS: Carbon, things have gone (WAY) downhill for them, plus in addition to the "Evil Empire" title they also own, EA's future is way far from being good, let alone average :indiff:.

Why is EA hated so much?

Bad customer service, making extremely bad games just so that they can make about 3 dozen DLC's, and look at their response:

Electronic Arts

Just to name a *few* reasons :sly:

The greatest part of this is the response. They basically just said "at least our products don't pollute the ocean after massive accidents, contribute to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of our customers each year, allow us to get government bailout money for ruining the economy or directly contribute to massive screwups in overseas wars" rather than actually trying to defend themselves from the allegations.

That's a bit like (if you'll forgive me for invoking Godwin here) Mussolini going to his trial and saying "I'm innocent because at least I'm not Hitler." I hope EA fires the idiot who made it, for their sake if nothing else.

Off the top of my head, that ego-stroking match that they just got into with Valve because Steam is just too convenient for PC gamers and just doesn't allow EA to rip off their customers quite enough for their liking.

It's always been as simple as just not buying their games (much easier than boycotting petroleum products or banking services). EA does a lot that I disagree with, but in the scheme of things who the hells cares when you are comparing a video game publisher to some of these other companies. Good job angry internet gamer mob... EA still doesn't care because they have your money.

As bad as EA are, there are far worse companies in other businesses more deserving of this award. How pathetic, really, that EA won this for poor customer service, poor games and all that trivial stuff when there are companies like Monsanto out there doing infinitely, infinitely worse things to mankind than providing, essentially, poor entertainment.

Talk about first world problems...

You mean the consumer-focused magazine made a nomination-based poll structured around who treated consumers the worst, and it's wrong that the winner of the poll was based on who treated consumers the worst because companies that no one nominated (probably because your average consumer will never had heard of them) didn't win?

Interesting.

Award-Winning Games?

It should be something like this:

Award-Winning Games?

And I bet that around 40-50% of the "supposed" 300 million people who play any kind of "Award-Winning Games" made by EA are pre-ProStreet :ouch: in which my case would be Underground 2 and Most Wanted (the best NFS game in my opinion :D )

This is just funny. You just can't see me laugh under my mask. But there customer service is terribly awful.

I bet most of the people who voted that EA is the worst company ever were people that plays Forza 4 and Battlefield 3.

I dont know a lot about Monsanto, the things they are doing are of course morally wrong, but it is certainly a great business model.

Only good thing they still make is sports games, and they've all gone downhill in recent times..

EA servers are if I must, possibly worse then GT5, and you may have to pay for them. They sell games less prepared then GT5 at first, and they screw us over at chance.

Great decision.

Really now? :sly:

Not terribly surprised, considering didn't one of their programs cause a virus to be downloaded to your computer, and many other things? Still, not too comparable to some other companies, especially some who do actual illegal crimes.

Also not surprised AT&T made it that far, wish they went farther. Though phone service isn't to bad, and internet is better closer to the hub, but customer service isn't the best.

I love how far AT&T got.
How could Facebook be a bad business, since it's free?

Selling of information to companies for marketing, privacy concerns, possibly issues with releasing information to governments, etc. Mostly how personal information is handled.

This is exactly what I think. What they've done to the NFS franchise can be considered a crime but not literally. What Monsanto's products have done to my country's land is literally a crime. Sure, EA has done much harm to the gaming community but corporations like Bank of America, Chase & Morgan, Blackwater, etc. do much more damage to all humanity.

Indeed, this diserves being captioned with the picture of the girl weeping about something trivial.
