endurance races

I would love to see an Endurance race at Autumn Ring Mini
with a 1000 HP minimum limit, that track is way to
small for such high powered monsters so you would be
powersliding 80% of the time.

A balanced starting grid seems to be the key to fun races,
unfortunatly Polyphony loves to throw in a car that are
5 seconds / lap then the rest, all to often which results
in a spread out field... thats why spec races are usually
the most fun in endurance races.
 
Indeed, Hence as said earlier the MX-5 race was so good :)

An "out-of-the-box" (as in no big stage 4 turbo smacked on) Lemans race would be fun, especially on the Nurburgring, I mean an R89C, 787B, GT-one, R390 GT-1, Mclaren F1 GTR Longtail, and V12 LMR as a line-up and i'll be in heaven :D
 
Well, I take endurances seriously. So I'm not masochistic about endurances. I don't want to race a stock Subaru 360 at Tokyo R246 for longer than 2:45:00. I don't really care even if I'm out there blowing everyone out with 45+ second gaps. And not to bring up my most recent "Sound Off," but I hope we're not forgetting about the new physics engine. Sure, anyone can beat down a pack of 5 cars, but the leading driver can still screw up. I'm not bothered by something like a lack of competition. To me, an nedurance is more about how to tackle the track, the competition, and most of all, the time to eventually win. I know we have some dedicated gamers, but account for everyone. Do you think a little boy (or even a little girl, because after all, girls know how to race too), will spend an entire Saturday night playing the Grand Valley 300km or the Tokyo R246 race and be willing to do it all over again if he or she so chooses? And as I said earlier, not everyone are seiously dedicated gamers. I'm a gamer myself, but I'm not like the ones who drink that Bawls stuff to stay awake or do something like play Unreal Tournament all night. Not everyone wants to deal with very long races, and I can respect that.

But here's my obvious question for discussion. Are endurances for dedicated racers, a select few, everyone, or what? What are your views?

The competition is a very important factor in any race, if it wasn't gt4 might as well be just time trials and eventually have no online races. Who cares about racing for an hour or more if you don't have the chance to lose it all and have to start again.

That sounds stupid :dunce: There's no fun in it whatsoever. I hate Autumn Ring with anything more powerful that 350bhp because if you tap the accelerator you just spin out. Nah, PD will only be putting the most challenging tracks for enduros, and Autum Ring Mini doesn't fit that criteria.

Hopefully in GT4 we'll see some more specific enduros! But I still want the racing-car-only ones, they're good.
 
So "Do You Race," would you call the Roadster Endurance from GT3 a disappointment in endurance racing? If you want powerslides and stuff, unlock and race the "99 Trial" from PS2 game "Ridge Racer V." There, you can take your Extra Class car of choice and try your best staying alive all throughout on Sunny Beach. How long is this race? It's about 1:40:00.000. Enjoy. As a bit of a stat, here goes:

LAST ENDURANCE I REMEMBER LOSING:
Special Stage Route 11 (Race 1), circa 1999.

I lost to the red Kunimitsu NSX as I was racing the Mitsubishi 3000GT LM Racer. I think I spun out on lap 29 and couldn't catch the NSX on Lap 30 (the final).

[EDIT] I'm sorry, this was in Gran Turismo 1.
 
Haven't played GT3, John. I said I like the racing-car-only ones, but I love a good enduro as much as the next racer.

i'm doing the "1000 miles!" Series in the British events area right now...
man endurances are fun!
first up was 25 laps of nurb, my best lap time was 8'08
next 95 laps of Opera Paris, best time 1'35
overall time so far: 3 hr 38' nurb, 2 hr 40 opera, so about 5 hours 18 minutes, whew
still got 2 more to do....
oh i'm running a ginetta g4

yeah i saw the 1000mi. wow. let me know how it turns out. my brain turns into mush after 2hours of the same track. What do you use for a seat? how many pause breaks? How many forks does it take to keep your eyes from falling out of your skull?
Today started 5pm, now 4am. I'm only at 4%. When I beat the 4x4 i got a jet turbine powered Toyota sled. kinda cool it does 190mph in first gear. The phone is now a throwing object. I'll sleep when im dead. kris-seattle

Have you ever ran 25 laps at the ring? That is an endurance race even if it isn't classified as that. If your best lap is over 8 minutes, that's about a 4 hour race. If it's not endurance, what is it?

Yes i would definatly say 25 laps of the ring is an endurance race. I used to play 5 lap races on PGR2 thats took about 40 mins so 25 laps must take ages
 
Just finishted up my 2nd 1,000 mile.
First time I used a Jag e-type - only did the lightweight mod, 2nd time used a 427 AC. Tires were the biggest problem for me. Running the softest compund I'm pitting every few laps. With the hardest compound, even the jag spins the tires into 3rd gear.

I should have bought stock in Mountain Dew before starting.
 
I've recently done the 1000 miles race. Note that the mileage counter said 991.9 miles (then again, it may vary)! Oh well, at least I got a ton of money. :D

Six times shorter than the Nurburgring Enduro. A prologue of sorts, perhaps.

yeah agreed, so wats the deal with that, do you just win one car now? or do you choose or what?
 
anyone know whats the best car to run an edurance while you sleep in b-spec mode. I hate endurances, but love the prize cars.

Those sound good the rest......
 
It's looks like if you want to do them all manually (so not using B-spec), you'll end up almost a whole week for those endurances alone. :scared: That means if you race them one after another without breaks. :sick:
