my setup is

AMD 4400 X2 dual core
XFX 7800GTX (460/1250)
2x 1024mb OCZ PC3200 RAM dual channel
Fatal1ty motherboard
and SATA HD.

my min fps is 29 or so and avg would be in the high 40's to 50's.

:scared: so as long as you have a good video card and lots of memory then it will run decently?

Eh, this game is very customisable and if you play with the settings I'm sure you'll get it to run well. If you want to run it a max. settings though, you'll need some serious hardware. You'll need at least my PC or better to run the game the way it was meant to be, or at least how it looks like in those screenshots.:ouch:

Wow!

I guess my modifications, overclocking and tweaking are working really well. Your processor and video card are much better than mine. Much, much better.

Or it could be the control panel settings. Have you tweaked your settings in there? Have you added the coolbits2 tweak? In either case with a system like that you have no problems. I'm only running in 1024x768 are you running higher resolution? I'd expect your min. FPS in F.E.A.R. to be over 50-60, not joking, look at benchmarks of your card on the internet.

EDIT: Once again your system Wow! that's some serious processing power there:drool:.

ive not touched the control panel or done coolbits2.

I want to know what to do though, to get the most out of it. apart from the latest drivers ive done nothing to it. Would be great if you could let us know what/where to do this 👍. Still learning :P

Not worth going in too deep like I did. I learned about it all about 2 years ago when I was a bit tight with money and I couldn't justify spending cash on a hardware upgrade.

Buying a more powerful part is the easiest and hassle-free option. Modifying and tweaking hardware and software is a black art that can take anything between days, months, even years to learn and perfect. Since you can afford such a powerful PC, I'd stick to just upgrading. I have too many other hobbies I spend money on so I can't always upgrade with the times, so I try to squeeze as much power from the system I have.

If you insist though, I'd suggest you look into are BIOS tweaking, Video Drivers tweaking, Games tweaking, Windows XP tweaking (services, prefetch, memory management). www.tweakguides.com is a good place to start, but be warned, you're entering nerd territory.:guilty:

hm.

Your system runs very well. I ave the same settings as you except for AA at x4 and you have higher FPS.

👍, i will have to have a squiz around and see if anything is blatenly wrong.

:indiff: Boost Lee's screen shots didn't look bad to me. His specs are...

P4 2.4b / 1gb ddr333 / X800Pro

What would the price be for that setup?

VIPFREAK, do you actually have a PC or are you looking into buying one and wondering how much it would cost, or what to buy?

Small_Fryz I've just checked some benchmarks on the internet and comparing it to your system you should be getting over 90FPS avg. mate. With a CPU as powerful as yours and such a high-end video card you should never drop below 60FPS. Just my opinion, but I did see a system like yours running x4AA, x8AF, 1600x1200, max. detail at 81FPS avg.👍. Considering you're running at 1024x768 (even if you have x16AF) you should have over 90FPS. I think I was getting just over 70FPS avg., with V-Sync turned off and a freshly restarted system.

Nope... and I think it's safe to label me as a noob when it comes to picking them out too.:(

Oh. Well PC is a scary business to go into. Very expensive, far more expensive than a console, for example. Best thing to do is to buy a ready made gamer PC.

This is good place http://www.alienware-offers.co.uk. They have a US site too. I don't know where you're from...

I just built myself a system from there in the similar specification as Small_Fryz and it came to over £2500.

www.pcspecialist.co.uk is a great place to look, they are much cheaper than Alienware as well.

More wonderful screenies!

Had a decent session in F.E.A.R today. progressed nicely through the game. This is the 1st FPS (actually i did play syphon filter on PS1 and Hitman 2 on PC) single player ive ever played and I really do love it. I love how in most hardcore battles you have to fight smart and hide and have some tactis rather than just jump out and shoot everyone. Plus the AI is very smart and will sneak around objects to show up behind you instead of coming straight at you. Once i finish on medium difficuilty i will crank it up to hard and play for real then. I love this game 👍

Oh man.. I made a big mistake today. I went to the official site and found out they had short vids of how each weapon works. The Proximity Mine, Shot gun and remote bomb absolutely RULES! Oh man the AI is ****ing awsome in it too!

:sigh: At this point I'm trying to scheme a way to get a PC that is able to play this game. :banghead:

Vipfreak and I mentioned how this game compares to Soldier of Fortune. I made 3 videos last night to show how gory that game was. Limbs fly off, enemies scream in terror, intestines come out, heads explode. Even the knife will leave marks all over the body where it slices. You can also cut throats. Very gory game. :dopey: :dopey:
Here is the link to that game and the 3 videos. Soldier of Fortune gory videos
