F1 2015!F1 2010-2016

Ignore the negative comments, if you're an F1 fan you will love this game. My only complaints are to do with the sport itself (i.e. lack of sound etc.) but they are hardly Codemasters' fault

That's really all I have to say about that.

--------

The game is really growing on me but it just feels so much better with a pad and that's just concerning to me. Of course you lose the nuances of using a wheel, but short of disadvantage it just feels absolutely brilliant with a pad. And don't misunderstand, that's not a bad thing in any way, shape, or form, the negative comes solely from the fact that the pad feels so much more engaging than the wheel does.

There are some performance and visual optimizations that need to be done but I absolutely don't regret purchasing this at the price I did. Would I be more upset had I paid full price using Steam? Hard to say really because I'm pleased with the game as is; it has a little less in the way of visual adjustments that were offered in 2013, but there's no denying that it's a stunning game.

See what I mean?

Admittedly, there are texture woes but I really don't expect them to be fixed as they fall into the category of you not seeing them unless you're looking for them. Bum situation on the PC no doubt but it doesn't lessen the experience much, if at all.

I owned every F1 game on ps3, from the last of the Sony exclusive titles (F1 Championship Edition), to all of the Codies games. I found that Codies really started getting it worked out by 2013.

2010 was ok, but had a ton of bugs.

2011 had less problematic bugs than 2010, but the physics and AI were more forgiving, which made it far too easy, even on the hardest difficulty I could lap the entire field in a red bull.

2012 was absolute rubbish, the only one of the series I took back to the place I bought it from for a refund. I don't know if they ever fixed all the game breaking bugs in it, but I guess if they did it would have been better than 2010 and 2011, as the physics were better, but it was plagued with bugs. Before I played Project CARS, F1 2012 was the most buggy racing game I'd ever played by far.

2013 was brilliant. I played that so much, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had fewer bugs than any of the previous F1 games from Codies, had better physics than all of them, better AI, better graphics (marginally, the graphics seemed to get slightly better with each one), and the classic content, while very limited, was quite nice for something a bit different.

2014 was essentially 2013 with different cars and crap engine sounds. The sounds were somehow worse than the real 2014 engine sounds, and the physics were the same except for a little bit of wheelspin added, which never really felt right. Although it was still a solid game, as it didn't have any major bugs that I was aware of.

2015 is more or less what I expected, having had all the others. Being the first on the new platforms, it has a big jump in graphics, better frame rate, and far more depth in the gameplay. Also much better AI, and better physics. They just need to work on an immersive new career mode for next year and I'll be happy to buy that one too. I understand it being left out for this one, as they worked on building a good platform from the ground up for this gen, and I think they've delivered exactly that.

Also, yes, I am a massive F1 fan lol.

FFB is actually a thing on the pad but not a wheel. What the hell, Codemasters?
Actually I think with the wheel you have about the exact same feedback than with the pad, which is a bit lifeless for a wheel FFB yes, Codmasters always sucked on this point (didn't play Dirt Rally). However it's still an improvement over F1 2014 and GRID Autosport where the FFB felt like a weak vibration (T300) rather than proper FORCE feedback and you couldn't feel counter steer at all (and therefor rear end was totally unpredictable).
PS: awesome screenshots.

BTW just finished Spanish GP with Alonso/McLaren and there's no trophy/achievement for passing T3 safely. :D

has anyone found that there is no benefit of reducing the front and rear downforce? on tracks like Sepang, monza and silverstone, there is no benefit to be had from reducing downforce.

That's just the problem that I have, I find myself adjusting the Logitech profiler just to compensate for what isn't there.

Like everything else though even that's beginning to grow on me.

Interesting. Speaking of fixing the car, in what world was it deemed necessary to remove gear adjustments?

That's why there's an 8th gear.

I have question for PC guys, since you still have the car condition in the HUD, does the brakes temperature really change when pushing or when you go easy ? Because often my engineer tells me to be careful because my brakes overheat and couple of corners later he tells me they are too cold and I have to brake hard.
And I can't check what is actually going on or if it even matters (I suspect he tries to add some drama to my race :D).

Isn't 1-3 front wing and 1 rear wing fastest way in the game? Does it not aid straight-line speed?

I just love this game! I'm playing on ps4. The last F1 game I played was 2012 on ps3. Coming from that the graphics are amazing! And the 60 fps is really great. Just don't do burn-outs with the chase cam.....

Driving wise I am very pleased. It drives great and the cars really feel alive.

Did anyone tried ProSeason yet on any platform or am I the only one having this hilarious assist issue ?

There's another bug I think I've read other people having it, several AI cars exit the pit at the start of FP session with a punctured tyre, triggering yellow flags all around the track (and not pitting otherwise it'll take away the fun).

BTW it's very nice that all lights displaying the flags color are fully functional (the blinking square ones).

I'll test this for you later.

Also f1 2013 holds bittersweet memories for me, I played everything on 100% and enjoyed it so much. Then going into the last round of the championship I loaded the game up to see the young drivers test bit when you first power it on. Corrupted save game, I was so annoyed.

Ok thanks but I saw other people having this too, it's probably a bug on the PS4 version but seems pretty random. Some people have assists locked on in 2015 but it works fine when they switch to 2014 season.

I've just tried a TT Williams/Monza with 1/1 wings then 11/11 on the main straight and the top speed difference is smaller than I'd thought (368kph vs ~345kph with DRS). On the other hand Parabolica was a walk in the park with full aero compared to low drag setup.
Probably needs more testing though.

It does aid straight line speed a little but not enough to compensate for the lack of speed in the corners from reducing the downforce.
For example, even though Sepang has two massive straights, it is still quickest to have downforce at 6 than any lower. Unless others have found different results?

Yeah exactly, you may as well just have the extra downforce. I am really struggling with the tuning on this game, i was pretty good at tuning on Pcars and old forza games.

This person seems to use 1/1 aero for everything so far including Malaysia:

Had a go online in a custom lobby and noticed some cars ghosting even though collisions and full damage were turned on...

Now it may have been the fact it was AI but I'm still not impressed. Anyone else found this?

Forget all what you know, I still didn't get over the advice of putting ballast to the rear to encourage oversteer !

If a safety-car/red-flags/real-penalties/retirements patch comes along soon, I'll be happy.

Without these, all of my races have been very predictable so far. I tried retiring from a full 78-lap race at Monaco about 10 times to see how much the results would vary but all that changed was that a few of cars switched places whilst the top 6 remained almost unchanged in all races.

The other issues (FPS drops, lack of championship season information and strange qualifying results, among other things) don't bother me so much that I feel they're urgent. I just feel that the safety-side of the game needs to be implemented in this game rather than waiting until F1 2016.

I'm really enjoying the AI, however. It's great trying to take Bottas to the top with Vettel pushing me onto the Mercedes! :D

EDIT: Has anyone else had the Ferrari smoke glitch? It's happened to Vettel and Raikkonen a few times for me. I'm surprised they weren't disqualified for using football flares! :p

EDIT 2: Also, the camera judders when using a controller with even slightly off/loose analogue sticks.

F1 2015 has hit top spot in the UK charts according to eurogamer.net. Displacing Batman Arkham Knight.

I've found a fix for the ProSeason bug (seems no one but me encountered it here  )

You have to delete your save and restart Pro Season, if it doesn't work once, try again and eventually assists will be off like it should. Proof that this bug is completely random.

So here I am in 2014 Pro season, Sebastian I will either avenge you or repeat History (most likely) !

Predictable just like the real F1 season so far

Can we talk about how great the Hermanos Rodriguez circuit is?

It feels so much different than the typical venue that I'd want to place it right up there with Monaco. I'm still learning the best lines around the track but it's so easy to come to grips with.

In my opinion, it looks really meh. It looks really Mickey Mouse with all the 90 corners and left-right zigzagging back and forth, and pretty much 0 elevation change. It looks worse than any of the previous Tilke circuits, and reminds me of a giant autocross course.

I was about to ask how a track could look like Mickey Mouse and then I re-read what you actually said. :p

The recent Tilke tracks have all been pretty lackluster, you won't get an argument out of me in that regard (I hate Valencia for example) but Hermanos just feels different from everything else. Maybe it is because it's so much flatter than anything else, and has so many esses with a mix of hairpins and chicanes - it just feels like it belongs.

I hope the actual race itself isn't incredibly boring...
