They can't die (good thing too, since they get in the line of fire a lot :p), and they're great decoys.

80% of the time my follower just serves as bait. But they can actually work pretty well with my playing style.

Followers can do that as well. Seeing someone like Deacon or Nick drop a Raider to the ground and going all out afterwards is pretty awesome.
I recall one moment where I handed Nick a Sledgehammer. And when we ran into an area full of Raiders he managed to sprint up to a Legendary, land a few hits, and perform a sweep that knocked the Raider off the ground, flat on his face. Then Nick just hammered the guy. I didn't have to do anything.
Funny that sometimes I just let my follower handle a few easy situations so I can conserve ammo. Like take out a nice group of ghouls or eliminate a few Radroaches. Especially for Danse, who wears power armor by default so he can just hammer everybody with a Sledgehammer. In fact Danse made things a tad too easy since he rarely goes into bleed-out mode.

Anyone else get really annoyed at companions ?
Been thinking of starting again and concentrate on strength so as to carry more. I came upon a fire fight between gunners, BOS and Super mutants, I waited to see who won which was the Mutants, got my sniper rifle and all I kept getting was my companion in the scope, even when told to stay in another area, my companion, after me bashing it and swearing a few times finally got spotted and in the ensuing gun battle I died.
I had the companion with me because of the loot, as I've noticed the bodies keep disappearing.
In one quest to rid a building of raiders every single one was lying down as if asleep, I literally walked around and shot them where they lay, even when some were next to each other and I used a shotgun they still never moved, and some I could not get loot off as nothing came up when the curser went over them, so as not recognised.
Love the game and though I'm on PS4, would love a mod to kill companions.

I had a similar glitch clearing out a "Ghoul Problem" for my Settlers. When I arrive it was just one Ghoul standing between a box and the wall totally glitched and not moving. Luckily there was a walkway above it that I could attack it from otherwise I'd have had issues.

Now I'm REALLY regretting taking her money early in the game. She just calls me a robber and shuts me out as others have also experienced.

BTW, I did find her wandering near Boston, so I picked her pocket and took all her caps. Just because she annoys me. Had a 60% chance and it worked. Unless she learns better manners, this will happen again.

I was nice to her I think, now she's always in Sanctuary. I always sell the excess flares to her, even though I have stores set up.

I think that happens if you gave previously cleaned a location out. Technically, in order to complete the quest, you only need to kill one enemy - the local boss, as it were. They kust happen to be positioned deep in the locstion, so you have to go through the underlings. But because of the way enemies spawn, the gane recognises the enemies that you previously cleaned out independently of the quest as the underlings of the local boss, so when you return, the local boss is the only enemy present. To prevent them from spawning when you clean the location out, they spawn separately, but if the location is cleaned out, that location can glitch.

Has anyone else encountered the Moonshiner who blows himself up at a Chemistry Station as you pass the half burnt down house of his near the Gunners Plaza?

Gahhh assigning and reassigning or even canceling Provisioners on supply lines is a serious PITA!

Really need an interface on your Pipboy to do such things.
Makes you wonder what Bethesda was thinking....

Came across a Chameleon Assaultron, have tried many times but so far unable to kill it.
For those with more melee skills you'll have a chance.
And now had a really tough battle with Child of the Atom people, just hit level 50 and I'm seriously outgunned in places.

Have not met him yet, but I had a Guy run towards in the middle of nowhere and when he got next to me pulled a gun and started firing, he was a Scavanger and near by I found some basement doors to an underground shelter, this was literally in the middle of grass and trees, this is what I like about Fallout, things you find and probably never be able to find again.

I just went on a "side quest" of sorts which you might enjoy.

Click on the link below and explore a list of possible names that Codsworth can call you. Many are somewhat obscure, and googling them can be amusingly rewarding. Some are probably developer names, there's the surname of "Max" out of post apocalyptic "Mad Max", there's noted Boston crime boss Mr. Bulger, plus many, many more.

Below the list is a video showing Codsworth saying a lot of names, some of which may give offence, especially the first ones, so if you're a teeny bit squeamish, don't click on the link below. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! (I once got into trouble for not doing so).

The video includes names NOT listed in the text, presumably because they are deemed too extreme for print.

It also seems to be possible to combine names, so I'm about to experiment!

Have fun!

Yeah I get that, but on that particular occasion I mentioned there were no underlings, just the one Ghoul which was incapable of moving and in a hard to attack spot.

Where was that?! Did you go inside?

Haha! Nice. What piece/s of clothing is that? I like. It may or may not be true that all my female settlers wear nothing but arm and leg guards... I'm trying to get the max affinity with Nick Valentine at the moment so I can go back to using Piper.
Did you know that all women in the game seem to have the same body? I'm just saying, for someone who's face looks 75, Mama Murphy has a smokin' body!

No

I had that issue, I assigned a supply line for temporary use. It took a couple days to find the settler again, I then had to follow him around in the wilderness for some 10mins before he got back to a settlement and I could do anything about cancelling the supply line.
There are a lot of things they should have included, like better ways to see what a settler is assigned to (because unless it's within line of sight you have no idea without following them). Ways to track your companions.

I found a sewer system just North-West of Lexington once but couldn't get in. Just inside was a Master terminal locking the door. It was really well hidden as well, weeds all over a drain entry. I hope to one day find it again when I have the hacking skills.

I managed to wipe out Quincy the other day. If you guys don't know where that is it's on the bottom-right of the map, and it's a Gunners stronghold. A bit like Gunners Plaza but the guys at Quincy are much tougher. There were three - you could say 'bosses' in that small town, because all of them were wearing Power Armor and were named (like Tessa). So why not come into the ambush with my own set of Power Armor?

It took around half an hour until the map said [CLEARED] on the location, mostly because of some Gunners hiding out in some alleyway or something. However the named guys like Clint took a bit of time to kill as well. I actually have a pretty powerful Gauss Rifle that can essentially 1-hit kill anything (or at least a good amount of HP) only if I fire a crit shot. So I just equipped a different gun and spam VATS until my crit bar is full.

The Power Armor I used was the X-01, which probably resisted more damage than I have expected it to. Was able to sustain a direct Fat Man hit but I still had to go on the defensive to preserve my armor rating. After the entire operation, the X-01 suffered total damage at 4 body parts, but even with those broken the armor as a whole still resisted a pretty ridiculous amount of damage. The X-01 is truly the best power armor in the game.. In fact I debated just going in with no Power Armor. But I continued anyways.

The resulting loot was... pretty lackluster, to say the least. One named guy there carried the Good Intentions rifle, so at least there was a unique item there. Apart from that it was mostly ammunition, guns I already have, or armor pieces that I already have. I'm gonna probably sell the bulk of the loot off or scrap them, or hand them over to my followers. Honestly I only did this because I really dislike the Gunners. Plus it's pretty fun tussling with them, judging from my operation at Gunners Plaza.

Oh man heading through the city past near Boston Common/Combat Zone, I spotted a few Super Mutant ahead, I prepare to snipe, then a BOS vertibird buzzing around, a few BOS knights come walking by the place, gun fire cracks and booms somewhere, echoing through the streets.
Then all hell breaks loose with a small number raiders, gunners and super mutants in the mix in all directions.

The sound immersion is amazing, really felt like I was in a full on urban combat zone like you see in the news!

They are wearing Raider and Gunner harness with a few pieces of armour ontop. I deliberately left off the chest armour peice :sly:

Some settlers/Mr Handy that I assign to supply line are hard to intercept to change their orders because they only barely touch the settlement boundary before changing directions... instead of going to the workshop first :(
Like one of the Mr Handys at Greygarden - I had to follow it and get ahead in workshop mode and select it the very moment it touched the workshop boundary.

Well on the other hand I did discover the Behemoth there along the road it used, and managed to kill it by luring it to the Co-Op settlement - 1 heavy sentry gun and 5 settlers with auto pipe rifles, plus me and Curie was enough firepower to kill it :)

That's where I had my big battle the other day, difference being I was watching the BOS attack the Mutants, I got closer and had the Gunners join in and in the running gun battle some Raiders decided to join, the BOS used two Vertibirds and an Armoured vehicle, all in all one heck of fight.

Wow that's pretty awesome. No one even intervened when I ambushed the place. It was just me and my follower. Though a Vertibird almost dropped down but it exploded before it did anything.

I was heading East to Atomatoys when I saw mini nuke explosions, I sneaked to the left as that was where the gun fire and explosions were, it was the BOS attacking Quincy next door, the Mutants opened fire and the BOS sent the armoured car in at the Mutants, it hit the wire fence and the back door came down, I didn't see anyone get out though.
I ended up getting chased by Tessa and Baker plus several Gunners and ended up in the water to the North which is where the Raiders joined in, a few beers were required afterwards
North of Fort Hagen I've found a twin barrelled tank, one side stuck in a ditch, could have done with that.

Interesting I saw a raider using a stimpak
I have sometimes heard the noise. I once had a raider nearly dead and while reloading round a corner I heard the noise then the raider was back at over half health.

I've only see raiders use stims during melee combat. Almost as if they thought that surviving my Furious Power Fist was a possibility.

I got to see some random raider choke-slam piper the other day. I actually said out loud "Oh 🤬 ."
It was awesome to see but then again, I also put my companions in bad situations just to keep myself out of trouble. :sly:

I might have to swap out Dogmeat for one of the other companions. Sounds like I am missing out on some good action. I have about 5 or 6 I can pick from. Piper would be my first choice for sure.

Also in the previous Bethesda games, if you put stimpacks, food, or other healing potions (depending on the game) into their inventory, they would use it. Dogmeat does not.

Immersion plus!

edit - I just tried this mod, and man the rain is way heavier and thicker than vanilla!
Kills your framerate....

For some reason, I've been seeing a lot of 2 man Minuteman patrols running around near Red Rocket since I started having supply lines. Or something else triggered them.
Some of them are sprinting around, instead of walking

I gave my supply line runners mining helmets, pretty cool seeing the headlights in the night :)
Cage armor and combat rifles as well.

My settlement building mission has turned from "Build for all!" To "Build for me!"

A 3 story tall house with a Power Armour garage, an armoury of sorts and a bedroom.

I want to extend the bottom floor to be a lounge for me, with a staircase to trading posts.

God this'll take so much scavenging

Initially in starting the game I thought building settlements up would build a strong Minuteman force to rival other factions, after realising my mistake like you I'm building for myself. I now have 25 workbenchs of which one is Diamond City, so 24 building projects - this is going to take a while
In Sanctuary I'm also building a power armour display as so far I've found 20 frames, so more looting required.

Had something weird happen, I received a warning that Ten Pines Bluff was under attack so I fast travel there and when I arrived I heard a single gun shot. I walked over to where it I was and see a dead body. One of the settlers had a gun drawn and said something like " I am sorry, I had to", turns out the dead body was not a raider but another one of the settlers. I looted the dead body and found a Synth card. Thinking the raid was over, I fast traveled back to where I was before, and then about 10 minutes later I received a "mission failed" notification. I think that mission is bugged.

MacCready is a great companion. If you get intimate, he provides a head shot perk that is awesome.

Also, he can run around in a Power suit without a power cell.

And, if you sleep near him, you get a short term boost to XP earning rate. But you have to tell him to put his armor back on. He's naughty.

interesting - you can recruit another mongrel dog

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Dogmeat_(Fallout_4)

To obtain a mongrel, one has to wander around non-populated areas such as forests around Sanctuary Hills. An injured mongrel will be encountered and the player has the option to stimpak him. The Sole Survivor will dub the mongrel Sparky and will then become a companion. However, if a companion is already present, the mongrel will glitch and not be available for recruitment.
