Decided to go back a few saves, too many things were glitching, even the Pip - Boy popped up at an angle upside down.
Where I re-joined I still had Codsworth, found a Ghoul and let Codsworth deal with it, he cut off one arm, then the other, then a leg and set it on fire a few times - what kind of Robot programming is that, this the Robot left with your baby.

Man you guys are all so far ahead of me by the sound of it, and I took 2 weeks holiday for this! Guess I've really just been taking my time with it.
I've been loving fighting Triggermen, so much ammo for the 10mm and Combat Rifle! After a while of exploring I decided to go and do some more main story quests as I needed to level up some, I was encountering too many enemies that were too strong for me. I only just went and met Nick Valentine!

I've also been KICKING myself for not buying Junkyard Dog the last TWO times I saw Gene. First time I didn't realise what I was dealing with, thinking it'd just be another companion like Dogmeat which seemed kinda redundant plus I was cheaping out on the 250 caps. Second time was soon after so I still thought the same! Now I know it provides 5 defence at your settlement or what ever, I really want to find him again but it's totally random.:dunce: I've also never seen Mutt whom you randomly encounter in the wild, I'd love to find him. Apprently he IS a companion like Dogmeat.

Getting more interesting now -

I was heading back to Red Rocket, from Sanctuary, when I heard a Vertibird buzzing around.
Saw it landing near the Abernathy Farm, so I dashed over there.
Looked around a bit, it seems like a BOS Knight, 1 Scribe, female Initiate and dog got out.

So I followed them for a bit.
It started raining, which felt pretty immersive with the louder rain and thunder sounds mod I added :)
The female would awalys be a bit behind the rest

Nothing much happened for a few minutes, went past the Diner.
I saw a house on the side I haven't seen before, looked inside and a settler was in there complaining about bowel issues from some food he bought from a vendor, gave me location, and the left overs of the food :)
While the rain was rattling the roof, thanks to the mod

Caught back up with the BOS patrol, and eventually the female split off to a different road and later rejoined - interesting AI
When they reached GreyGarden they turned around and headed to the base at the Police Station.

Then the male scribe stepped on a mine, he died which then set off a car that blew up the dog - free loot for me

A minute later the female split off towards the Police base, while the BOS Knight went off on his own, and I lost track of him.
I followed the female and went ahead a bit, I stepped on a mine, and then dashed back, it set off a car which detonated and killed her
Then a ghoul attacked.

The rain stopped and it started to clear
I continued onwards for a minute looking around and saw 2 more BOS Vertibirds in the sky, after a bit they were firing on something. I scoped around the building they were above, and there some Super Mutants there.
Took them out, collected loot and then watched the Vertibirds buzz around for a few minutes, fast travelled back to Red Rocket.
Sort my loot, sleep, and then start my quests 👍

You're not alone, I've only got to the Castle yesterday, just been doing my own thing.

I've done that a few times, and gotten into trouble with it.
I met the guy with stomach trouble as well, it's why I like exploring, so much is missed otherwise.

Around 80 hours and I am up to 15 settlements now. The 15th settlement is a bit restricted at the moment but I think more will unlock for it later. I can not even plant food yet in this settlement or get a recruitment tower. I think when I complete my next couple missions, something will happen. I keep telling myself I will do more story, then....settlements.

So this happened

Also, I ran into a Glowing Deathclaw yesterday and ran into something interesting http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/lImaRobotl/video/13035398. I never you'd be able to do that.

Hmm never encountered that before, must say I love the Spray 'n Pray, awesome effect when you shoot in the water btw.(not realistic mind you but nevertheless awesome.)

Did encounter a Glowing One which revived all his allready-killed-by-me ghoul friends, not seen that before even though I've played about 86 hours.

reminds me of this one - the ending makes it :)

Something similar (much lower level)...

Putrid Glowing One (ghoul) with no arms, no legs, and half his head blown off... Still writhing in pain and hunger for my blood. Took his limbs with a trail of Frag Mines.

Btw, that house had 2 legendary ghouls and almost everything had a skull next to its name. I was definitely under-leveled for the area but still cleared it. :D

Just finished the battle with the BoS, and now... I do... things.

Involving... stuff. I genuinely don't know, to be honest.

For melee enemy my general rule is to disable at least a leg. This is extremely useful for ghouls and death claws as they rely on speed and agility to attack.

But I tend to simply back away as I'm putting down fire waiting to "vats" when super close.

I have found the game to be a lot like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in that it works best when you're off creating your own stories. That's why I walk everywhere and travel with Dogmeat - I like the sense of isolation; I really feel like I am looking for Shaun at a time when the world is on the brink of enormous change and I am letting it pass me by.

Damn it gets tough down South! I hate bugs btw, especially Bloodbugs since they're so damn hard to hit without VATS. I just fought Kellogg today, couldn't beat him straight up so I drew him down in to the hallways and 3 Mini Nukes later.... I was around level 25 with rank 3 Rifleman perk.
But yeah, down South, I had a Gunman's fort on my right being attacked by a BOS Vertibird, and straight ahead a Legendary Bloodbug (one of the tough ones, like a Queen or something can't remember the name). About 10 tries later I beat the Bloodbug.
Also, I found Gene again and bought Junkyard Dog! It was mid-quest but I wasn't letting that stop me.:D Just got to find Mutt now. It seems the more I play it the slower and glitchier it gets.:(

Had a good run of it today.
Picked up a legendary Fatman with additional radiation damage. 👍
A baseball bat from the 2077 world series (or some other year) with a "slight" chance to send the enemy flying (haven't used it to see that happen).

Also tried playing on adjusted low settings and I'm amazed how good the game still looks. Think I'm going to switch back since the locked 60fps didn't really seem any better than when I'm hold 45-60 on high settings for everything.

I'm also starting to see a bug where the entire screen goes white and black and only faint images of the surroundings are visible. It's really annoying and I'm looking forward to patches in the future (I think  ).

Had to start over. Found my game save was corrupted. I regularly clean old game saves out, so I couldn't find a good one to load.

I've been having 3 saves, 1 before I make a decision on which faction I side with, my latest save and my second latest save. I think I'll create some USB backups because I've heard about others having problems too.

Speaking of game save. This came from a modder.

PROTIP: REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THIS IS INSTALLED, EVEN IN VANILLA, NEVER EVER QUICKSAVE EVER. In vanilla, mines that have detonated can disappear; things that have fallen over may remain so; other worse things can happen that you cannot see (this was true for prior Bethesda games, and unfortunately remains true). Has nothing to do with this mod, just FYI.

He's talking about his mod. This is regardless if you have a modded or a vanilla game. This is true I can confirm this. The quick save is bugged.

So, saw something weird in the Concord Speakeasy: a skeleton in a tub surrounded by naked female mannequins, all holding plungers ...

"Mines that have detonated can disappear".....yeah, and the inventor of the mine rests peacefully :odd:

"Things that have fallen over may remain so"... So gravity is spot on in the this game?!

What am I missing here?
The "PROTIP" came from a modder at the NexusMods Site. Its like this. If you quicksave and then you died of a mine. When you reload your quicksave, the mine will disappear. It supposed to still be there because you quicksaved before you detonated it. That happened to me. I don't know about the "fallen things" he's saying.

Did you stumble into the filming of a Captain Beefheart video?

Just bought Fallout 4 but there's an embargo as it's a bloody Christmas present for one of the kids. Dammit.

I have yet to see anything like this happening on my end after 100 hours using Quicksave almost exclusively.

I think it could be an issue with loading a save rather than saving it. Since it's remembering a state that occurred AFTER saving it.

Do you also use the quick load? Because I always load via the menu.

You're maybe right. I use quick load. The mines would reappear if I use the loading in main menu.

Made a new character and decided to start over.

He's a sniper with emphasis on sneak, rifle and toughness. It's not a character where you just burst in and shoot up the place, you take your time, set a plan and execute it flawlessly (well...try to to anyway).

Named after the sniper in Saving Private Ryan, Daniel Jackson, was a retired military hero before the Great War, and when he reawoke in the wasteland he found his old rifle again and set out to find his son. Only accompanied by his dog.

Very thick fog, that just kind of appeared out of nowhere one early morning.

And one unrelated question. Is it at all possible to say the word Virtibird, without sounding like the Swedish chef from The Muppets?

Sounds like Cormac McCarthy's The Road (although the man and his son were together the entire time there).

This has happened to me quite a number of times.
On a slightly related note, I once fast travelled to a place and spawned in on a mine, dying instantly.:banghead:

X1 version with around 80 hours.
I have seen the mine bug at least 10+ times. In fact, EVERY time I die from a mine it is always gone when I respawn. I auto save ever 2-3 minutes. I thought maybe it was supposed to be like that. Didn't realize that was one of the bugs. Now that I think about it, I don't think there is a single time I died by a mine, it was ever there when the game re-loaded.

Now I have about 10 saves in rotation. I auto save very often, and once in a while hard save.
