I'm almost 75 hours in and I feel as if there is still so much more to be discovered, earlier I was just wandering about in a forest and I came across a guy desperately trying to open a fridge so I killed him to open it for myself to find a Gauss rifle, I walk a bit more and come across a guy in a factory using robots to mass produce food and then I spend about 45 mins just exploring the factory. It amazes me that after registering over 3 days of playing time I still feel like I'm such a long way off exploring everything.

Had something weird happen, I received a warning that Ten Pines Bluff was under attack so I fast travel there and when I arrived I heard a single gun shot. I walked over to where it I was and see a dead body. One of the settlers had a gun drawn and said something like " I am sorry, I had to", turns out the dead body was not a raider but another one of the settlers. I looted the dead body and found a Synth card. Thinking the raid was over, I fast traveled back to where I was before, and then about 10 minutes later I received a "mission failed" notification. I think that mission is bugged.
I've had a settler kill a Synth but I just happenend to be there it wasn't to help defend.
It's possible you left before the attack, but it also could be a bug.

In looking at my perks I have one called Foreknowledge, this makes Kellogg do 25% less damage. Have not a clue where I got it.
MacCready is a great companion. If you get intimate, he provides a head shot perk that is awesome.
When Codsworth loves you you get ' Robot Sympathy ', which means +10 damage resistance against Robot energy weapons. And now that I have dismissed him I've still got it, this could mean to my horror of using all companions and make them love you, to get their perk - I think this game hates me.

I'd say the Synth shooting was an unrelated incident, sometimes an attack takes a minute or so to start.

Speaking of attacks, one of my settlements got rushed by a pack of like 10 Ghouls the other other day, including a legendary one. It was like The Walking Dead!

interesting - you can recruit another mongrel dog

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Dogmeat_(Fallout_4)

To obtain a mongrel, one has to wander around non-populated areas such as forests around Sanctuary Hills. An injured mongrel will be encountered and the player has the option to stimpak him. The Sole Survivor will dub the mongrel Sparky and will then become a companion. However, if a companion is already present, the mongrel will glitch and not be available for recruitment.

Yeah I've been talking about trying to get him, I just wish there were specific locations to find him.

I found another one - a dog breeder named Gene who offers you the latest dog he has trained for 250 caps.

I think he sells 2 types of dogs, but you can't companion them

I didn't know you could shoot gas canisters and they explode, flame up.

I was attacked by a whole lot of ghouls and accidentally shot one, and the whole room flamed up and saved me :)

The gas canisters has been a feature in previous games, when there is a gas leak you can just make it out in the air, you'll just make out the air swirling, I think what's changed is I did shoot a canister which wasn't leaking, the canister shot around the room like a missile with the gas pouring out a hole, never seen that before. If that's what you meant my apologies.
Had three vertibirds together last night, which is a first, they dropped ground troops and together attacked Sentry bots and Assaultron's fighting an Alpha Deathclaw.
Had to help Hangman's Alley out, I've done some building and blocked one entry way, it was being attacked by Synth's. As there is now only one entry point which is a doorway, it was a field day taking them out, so mush so I couldn't get out, so I fast tracked to a nearby location to get the last one and got a quest failed notice - can't win sometimes.

I was in the city and I was just standing there with Cait, while the BOS were killing raiders/Super Mutants, and I got XP from it....

then accidently shot a BOS Field Scribe....

...Oh, Cait looks pretty cute in a harness and BOS Field Scribe head gear :D

You actually can drag dead bodies you know?

Yeah, I know, forgot to mention the Mutant dog, thanks anyway, did my best to move them. My strength is 6 which probably had some bearing on it. I say this as I recently killed a Behemoth and when I went to loot his body I got a message saying I was not strong enough to carry this weapon, the weapon disappeared from his back pack so I did not get a chance to study it.

Has anyone done the Hole in the Wall mission
without getting bitten
?
I read if you do it without getting bitten you won't lose 10 health when you give the boy the vaccine. I also read if your companion gets bitten you also contract the virus?

That sucks. I know I wasn't strong enough to use the Tactical Minigun you get in Concord, though I didn't think strength would have any bearing on it, figured it'd just be a power armour only weapon.

That's a good point, didn't think of that.

Loved the game. I beat it last week but still have things to do. I'm level 56. Really looking forward to DLC. I love how you can Mod the weapons. I didn't really do the settlement thing yet. The only settlement building I did is put a bunch of machine gun turrets around the red rocket gas station next to sanctuary that I use as my home base and power armor "junkyard". I have about 20 sets underneath the gas station canopy I have different parts on lol. I love the x01 power armor. Have two sets of that but one is missing an arm and a leg. I didn't use the power armor much during the play through because I was afraid of running out of fusion cores, but now I have 95 or so, so will use it during DLC. Overall awesome game :)

You guys come across the "Charge card" guy? Haha...

Ran into him, in a middle of a massive BOS raid, while I was near the castle area.
I now own a FO4 credit card....

"Shop owners make fun of you if you buy it and try use it :)"

Pretty cool that every vendor has recorded lines for this

Maybe you use it to buy the DLC

Got this from the Legendary Glowing Mirelurk you fight when you take over the castle.
It has become my top gun, after modding it. Does almost as much damage as my Combat Shotgun, 131 vs 139. And it's a whole lot more accurate.

But my Plasma Rifle is still my current favourite gun, which does 48 kinetic and 48 energy damage, plus you get free Nuclear material from wasted bodies of dead enemies that turn into green blob pools

Damn that Mirelurk queen - I used all 4 of my Bottle cap mines, plus a few frag mines on her. Did take her down to 20% health or so which helped a ton.

That whole mission was pretty hard. Maybe the enhanced AI from the Arbitration mod made it much harder than vanilla. Once that legendary Mirelurk locks onto you, it will home in and chase you down, without getting distracted by your companion/Minutemen

EDIT - It's Chistmas at Diamond City, and there are trees and decorations up :)

I just got a two shot combat shotgun 180 damage, every thing on it is standard so some upgrades can be done.
I have not used it yet, not sure if the damage is for the two shots or each.

Its just the non legendary value doubled. i've had a two shot shotgun assault rifle and 10mm pistol. these guns just tear up the ai even on survival.

What i would have liked to see is legendary mods rather than ammo or Armor. so could have something like a prewar .308 receiver which does an additional 20-30% damage when compared to the top tier .308 non legendary mod. I think having craftable ammo system from new vegas could also add a lot of variety to it. as the bullets could be an additional damage multiplier.
just think you could have the following situation.

Junk ammo does x0.75 damage but would only require minimal materials to craft.
Normal ammo does x1 damage and can be found in normal locations but is rare.
Armor piercing does x1 damage but ignores x% od armour.
Then something similar for exploding rounds.
Finally the ability to craft ammo modifiers so players with the right perks could make ammo that deals additional damage in forms of poisoning or radiation. thus creating a bigger use for the bloodbugs.

hopefully someone mods it in when the geck is released.

Is it just me, or do Super Mutant Behemoths feel easier to beat and look much smaller than they were Fallout 3?

Their attacks do a fair bit of damage, but they're hardly the toughest enemies around like the Fallout 3 quintet. Those guys had to be taken out from a safe distance, whereas a mutant like Swan can be dispatched through typical running and gunning.

EDIT: Frigging Suicider shows up out of the blue while I'm wiping our Raiders outside BADTFL Regional Office. Rushed inside before he could kill the lot of us.

Closed the door and noticed the dreaded nuke flashing next to me before the inevitable happened. Of course he'd be the only one to follow me through.

Anyone else got a crap load of loot from the Battle of Bunker Hill quest? I informed the BoS and the Railroad about the freed synths, so the Institute, the BoS, and Railroad all ended up intervening at the same time. Once the synths were mostly gone, the Railroad started killing the BoS. The Courser guy Father assigned me was apparently an essential guy too, so he managed to wipe out a good number of RR/BoS guys.

While the battle was going on I literally sat back while I just looted every person who died. No one attacked me because technically I was allied with all 3 factions. The only real hostiles were the turrets.

Anybody got any good tactics for taking on Mirelurk Hunters? I keep running into two of them in The Big Dig, and they chew me up and spit me back out.

Here's my suggestion based on personal experience. Take MacCready as a companion and get the relationship maxed out. That will earn you the Killshot perk. This perk boosts the probability of a V.A.T.S. headshot success to nearly 100%, even at extreme range, so long as it's visible. With Mirelurks, you use this to shoot their faces, faces being their weak spot.

The second part of the solution is to chemically (or otherwise) boost your Action Points, so you can keep blasting their faces.

A weapon which provides a lot of damage and requires infrequent reloads is helpful.

In my opinion, taking MacCready along is rewarding in itself, as you explore his backstory. If you played Fallout 3, you probably met him when he was a kid. If you didn't, he'll tell you his story anyway, if you raise your affinity with him. It's a good story.

I'm thinking that I will leave the companions alone for now. I like travelling solo, and the human companions tend to draw me into fights that I don't want to be in.

Although I do have the Silver Shroud costume, so I might dress Nick in it (or do the detective files as Silver Shroud).

I had the same, literally just walked through the battle all the way to the end with nobody attacking me.

I think that perk is broken. You get a 200% boost instead of 20%

So...I did the Hole in the Wall quest. Did it without getting bitten once, so I didn't permanently lose 10 health. Now I have Curie, but I really want to get the max affinity with Nick Valentine (apparently I need to complete his personal quest first, Long Time Coming, which is a REALLY long quest :irked:) before I start using her. Looking forward to transferring her to her new body. Can someone tell me, does she actually fire her laser rifle without ammo once she becomes a Synth?

Well you could have taken the cure and let the kid die :)
As for myself I have the disease, a reminder of my kindness and generosity :sly:

Yes, I've seen her spam her laser rifle after she ran out of ammo for the gun I gave her, but she will also pick up better weapons+ ammo if she comes across any dead guys

Well I've finished the Nick Valentine quest, this made him like me enough to give me a perk, so there is a perk available from each companion, oh well on to the next.

I don't know if you use power armour ( I don't ) but I found a set behind one of the walls, this and mines worked for me, took several attempts as the idiots with you just love standing on them.
