I think that perk is broken. You get a 200% boost instead of 20%

Reading the description of the perk, it says it provides 20%, whereas it's apparently 20x. Who knows whether they meant it to be 20% or 20x. It may be a bug in the code or simply a misdocumentation.

In actual fact, the system caps the probability at 95%. That's good enough for me!

Anyway, so long as the starting probability is not zero, you get 95%. This is why it's so good against Mirelurks. They tend to hide their vulnerable faces, giving V.A.T.S. a very low probability of success. This perk means that so long a sliver of face is visible, you have a 95% chance of an effective hit.

The process of raising MacCready's affinity is a nice side-quest in itself, figuring out what he likes and dislikes, and thus, step by step, teasing out his life story and trust level to the point of granting the perk.

While looting and shooting underground I had four messages to help settlements under attack in quick succession.
Later in returning to Sanctuary Preston was not to pleased, I looked at the settlement stats via Pip-Boy to find many were out of food and water.
I think I'll abandon the Minutemen they're obviously useless.
I really would like a mod to be able to build my own faction.

Some of those are already turned on by default
At least that's when I tried the bat file I made as described

The attacks probably damaged crops and water pump etc
Did you have any sentry guns?

BTW check out the gameplay of that weather/storm mod
Not sure why Bethesda made the rain sounds of vanilla so quiet

Playing late last night with my DT880 headphones and the thunder sounds are so damn good and immersive!

All my settlements have more than enough sentry guns of all types, It's annoying to keep fixing pumps and re-planting.
You can assign people to defend and scavange, so why don't the ones assigned to farm re - sow, they all have trade routes. Being part of a group, i.e. the Minutemen, with 20+ settlements and yet no Minutemen will go to defend or go to the rescue.

I don't know if you use power armour ( I don't ) but I found a set behind one of the walls
I only use it sparingly, since I only have a few fusion cores to spare (though I did steal back the ones I gave to Vault 81). But the mirelurk hunters still thrash me.

So I finally got around getting to the Glowing Sea...

And I should have left earlier in the day because it was night time when I got there, pouring rain, thunder/Rad storm, and with the darker nights and weather mod, it was some scary stuff!
RAD levels were insane, and I didn't bring enough Rad Aways even though my Power Armour had well over 1200 RAD resistance... just had no time to relax and explore, while getting attacked by Ghouls and deathclaws
Had to bee line straight to my quest target.

Although I was suprised how relatively easy it was (on hard level) to kill the Deathclaws, although none of them were above level 16, and me at 30 (actually gained 1.5 levels here).
I was expecting them to be much higher level.

The Castle mission with the Mirelurks was a lot harder
But that 2 shot combat rifle I have might have helped a lot.
Also had Danse with me and he helps a lot as well.

Loved the Glowing Sea it's my favourite location so far in the game.

Now that I've finished the main story and levelled up quite a bit think I'm gonna stick my power armour on and go explore it properly.

Found first nasty bug.

In settlement-building mode, it's almost impossible to place an object because the object hangs up in the air rather than being at ground level.

I have managed to place a couple of plants on a roof, and two more on top of a hedge. But it's rare that I can place anything.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

Cured this bug on my Xbox by reinstalling the game. If there's a bug bothering you, a reinstall may help. I don't know why.

So I just modded up a nice plasma rifle I found on a Legendary death claw in the glowing Sea - does 2x damage on target with full health, and does 80/80 damage.

Wanted target practise - so I fired up the Settlement Raid mod
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2995/?

Dialed up an Easy Raider raid first up - wasn't too hard with me and Danse in power armour, plus some settllers and 2 Sentry guns. Even with the better AI from Arbitration
Good way to get ammo and loot :)

Added an extra heavy sentry gun - then next tried a medium Gunner Raid - ophhh got wasted here, and there were quite a few Legendary Gunners around level 20

Lots of fun though!
Kinda like tower defense

My Sole Survivor lady is "seeing" MacCready, slept for an hour and woke up with the Lovers Embrace perk to hear him saying "whoa…didn't know you could do that with a Mutfruit!"

Nor did I.

So, I was trying to get from Cambridge Police Station to Monsignor Plaza when I stumbled into a gang of super mutants and a mutant hound in a dead end. They're easy enough to deal with, but the fight attracted the attention of the horde of ghouls in the Cambridge impact crater, including the putrid glowing one.

200 laser rounds and 20 stimpaks later, I limped out of there.

The Brotherhood scribes you have to escort to find data are morons. Immediately failed the quest when I got to the location because the guy ran in, alerted the entire pack of ghouls and got himself killed before I could eliminate any ghoul.

i know, so my solution was the laser gatling gun. It will destroy everything.

Weird, I went back to the Glowing sea with the same Power Armour with 1200+ rad resistance, and I hardly took any radiation damage with a storm going and some light rain later on.

Not sure why I was getting so much RADs the first time around as described above...

Either it was a glitch, or it might be the PA chest piece I swapped out. The one that you create in a building/quest that refreshes your AP faster when your your hit by radiation.

I did some exploring tonight, went to Libertalia and got the Le Fusil Terribles! With my current perks and mods, it does 178 ballistic damage. This is a special combat shotgun, and it's a nice step up from my Enraging Double Barrell's 140 damage.

I've been finding some crops glitch for me and don't repair when I click on repair. I wasted 15 Tatos trying to get one plant to repair.👎

I encountered a Mirelurk Hunter only once so far and I was already half dead. It wiped me out in seconds.

They're nasty. They seem to be a creature that preys on mirelurks, so they're quick and hardy. They do seem a little vulnerable to status damage - a laser weapon with burning effects seems to be pretty effective in taking them down. If you take a risk and go to the Vault under Malden Middle School, you can pick up some nice gear; I have an automatic laser rifle with quantum gyro lens and burning damage. It chews through fusion cells, but it also chews through the scenery.

Also, pay Swan a visit if you haven't already done so. He's a monster of a super mutant who lives in the pond in Boston Common, near the start of the Freedom Trail and the subway station where you rescued Nick. He drops some really good stuff; I just got a power fist that deals greater damage with each consecutive hit, and some heavy armour that I upgraded with some add-ons that I had on some unused armour that pushed my defence up to stratospheric levels.

The mirelurk hunters aren't a problem. It's the mirelurk queens that pop up behind you with no warning.

I need to take on Swan at some point. Just need to figure out the best way to attack him. I've got X-01 power armor and 77 fusion cores so I'm pretty sure I'm set for anything at this point.

I ran into Swan by pure accident and I was not prepared at all while on hard difficulty. Plus I was not in power armor. After throwing out several cryo mines, taking jet along with psycho, multiple saves, and a fair amount of luck, I finally beat him. Just wow did not see anything like that coming at all and it was at night.

He scared the 🤬 out of me when I first encountered him and I went nope nope nope nope nope.

Yesterday I decided it was time to give it a go.
I used Piper to keep him occupied while spamming him with rockets, as she did not keep him occupied very long I had to run and after a while I lost him and he went back in the pond and regained all his health :banghead:.
So round 2 started the same and again I had to run as Piper got wounded.
Staying out of his throwing line had to hide behind the small building, as he came around the corner I tried to run again but got stuck on a car so it became up close and personal.
His health was whittled down to a third and I reckoned that I'd survive the splash damage from the missile, so I fired two or three shot and finally killed him.

Must say that I used a legendary rocket launcher that does extra damage to super mutant.

While looting a building with Deacon, he fell from the third level to the basement slap bank in to a group of Raiders, as he can't die I would hear shooting then nothing then shooting, after a while I heard one of the Raiders shout ' how many of them are there ?', did make me laugh.

I have not done the Glowing sea and reading posts on it like yours has put me off, anyway last night I came across a chem which does -35000 rads, yes that is right. I have seven of them so might give the Glowing sea a go.
I don't know how to do the hidden spoiler to say what it is.

I took out the Swan with a crit shot to its head with my Gauss Rifle.

But yeah Mirelurk Queens are the worst. Their poison is crazy

Mirelurk kings haven't been an issue for me. Just the queens. I was approaching the factory or whatever it is in the northeast near coastal cabin when I got to the concrete wall outside of the factory, and since I was crouched, the [HIDDEN] went immediately to [DANGER]. I initially assumed it might have been whatever was at the factory, possibly raiders. I was very wrong. Mirelurk queen.

I haven't been back to that area since.

I didn't realise how tough those queens could be until I encountered one in the open just south east of Coastal Cabin.

Taking out the Castle queen was easy with so much cover available, but this took me half a dozen tries and a few mini nukes to get the job done. They're disturbingly quick over even ground, so I had to attack from a higher vantage point and keep at it before she reached my position. Three nukes and a few plasma rounds nailed it just as she started to flank me and cut off any possible retreat.

Mirelurk Kings can be annoying too but definitely not as annoying as queens
I haven't found neither to be hard, but the King did scare the hell out of me. Was just walking around and saw a blip on the radar, and then all of a sudden this thing was already in my face.

The Mirelurks are tough, for me it's the Chameleon Assaultron, you hardly see it, cannot use VATS and it has this sweeping laser, only met one took ages to dispatch and many tries.
South of Fort Hagen I was ambushed by two Deathclaws, while fighting some BOS flew in, great I thought, one Behemoth and six more Deathclaws later I was exhausted. Not sure if there is a nest nearby but a heck of a relentless fight, they just kept coming, luckily not all at once.

I found Swan rather easy at level 25 on hard, he's like level 50.
Only took 5 secs or so from my 100+ damage combat shotgun to take him down.
And no power armour

I don't know how to do the hidden spoiler to say what it is.

A hazmat suit has 1000 Rad resist which should be enough.
Otherwise just add lead plating to your power armour parts like I did. Took me over 1200 Rad resist

If my second experience is the norm, then only the pools of fluid have a lot of radiation.
But maybe the Rad storms there elevate the overall level of radiation, like in my first trip there.
