Fallout 4

It seems the three affected mods are
- Higher Settlement Budget (downloads from 5th December)
- Rename Dogmeat (downloads from 4th December)
- BetterBuild (downloads from 29th November)

I have the first and last ones. I did a quick rumage through and didn't notice any dsound.dll files. Actually, my Index is only reporting one dsound.dll file on the hard drive which Fallout 4 is located in: The Witcher 3. I remember downloading this particular file so I don't have any reason to go back there and check. It seems that those affected are downloads from the date above so I may have dodged a bullet as I didn't start modding until yesterday, December 9th.

None of the Grafix-based files (as there are more than one) didn't have any dsound.dll files either and ESET Quarantine didn't have anything recent though I noticed they were updated yesterday so I may have, again, dodged a bullet there.

My network utilization is also currently sitting at...0%.

The most resource-intensive program is Skype and it's been like that for me for as long as I can remember. I'll keep an eye on things for my stuff, though.

I think they're just false positives. If there's nothing wrong with your PC prior to this "scare" then there's nothing to worry about. :) I tested the latest Grafix 2.1 "fix" and its clean. I like the 2.0 version though.

I tend to do a lot of sneaking about and built my character around that, but more and more I am getting hostiles avoiding me. If I spot a building I'll bring up a scope to have a look, if I spot a hostile through the scope they immediately go behind cover, I'm talking long range here. Yesterday I scoped at a building across a lake spotted a Mutant who immediately moved behind a caravan, I had a Deathclaw go behind a rock, a Gunner who was sleeping get up and go behind a tree and stay there. At all times I was hidden and solo.
I appreciate and like that Bethesda have made hostiles run for cover when being shot at, but they seem to be doing it without firing, as if being scoped is the same as being shot at, very annoying.
Has anyone else experienced this ?
Totally hidden not moving and I heard a step then was killed by a Behemoth, so they now can move silently and have a cloaking device.
And just now while inside a building with Ghouls, I ordered MacCready out into the open to attract some attention, he literally stood next to two Ghouls, neither noticed each other.
Might start again, delete all saves, things are getting stupid.

I was prompted to update on xbox one last night, maybe I'll hold off until I know the patch is ok.

So I stumbled across Covenant last night, something is definitely a bit off-keel with that place. Somehow I have a feeling things are going to end badly for them, hopefully I wrong, but I know they are hiding something from me.

I also had an update and didn't investigate to see what was patched. I still have cow on a roof at Sanctuary so that is still a thing. Not that I mind. Still cracks me up.

At Covenant, stand looking towards the lake, go to the north end, i.e. turn right, at the North end of the lake is a half submerged vertibird, next to it in the water is some power armour and frame, unless you,ve found them already. Enjoy.

I have a cow on the covered porch in one of the houses at Sunshine Tidings, I threw down a Bathtub feeder close to the house but it sill won't leave the porch area.

No I haven't found that yet, thank you. The only other power armor I have found so far other the default set is a T-51 series. I did the 'Follow the Freedom Trail' quest that ends at the Old Church near Diamond City, after I finished up there, I went directly towards the waterfront from the old church and then took a left and followed the river, (the water was to my right). I went a little ways until I saw a dock with some green Army Tanks on it. I went over there to investigate and found a Terminal that I could hack which opened a door to claim the T-51 armor. I am in the process of upgrading it to 'C' class which is the highest available right now.

I believe the Power Armor models are based on what level you are when you find them. I've seen videos specifically saying "T-60" here or "X-01" here and because I showed up at the places a dozen levels before the people in the video I'd only find a T51 in p lace of the T60 or a T60 in place of an X01.
I'm sure there are places where the armor is always the same type but I haven't found one of those places yet. :(

There's actually a guaranteed spawn of X-01 at a place called 35 Court. You must be over Level 30 so the X-01 power armor will actually be there. I dunno if being at a level below 30 will still spawn the X-01, but I wouldn't risk it

So my settlement no longer has a wall, it never gets attacked anyway.

Used the steel to build more of my house.

Now got a Power Armour garage and a weapons room just above with a chair in case I need to just get away from it all and stare at my guns

Actually I've seen that on youtube and I think the guy who posted the video about it says that below level 30 it will spawn lesser P.A.
Not sure, haven't really sought it out since I rarely use power armor. That said, I'm level 32 atm so I very well may go over just to pick up a new suit. :D
Thanks for the reminder.

I had entered the building in the lower 20's and it was just a T-60, so it is level based :( You should be good, though.

Making stand alone defense towers

Want to use the ridiculously powerful missile turrets, but are too afraid of raiders destroying your generators anyway? Wish that you could have all that power without the messy wires going all over your settlement?

Well worry no more! Thanks to the rug exploit, you can easily hide generators in shack foundation. What's more, if you stow the rug, the generators stick to the concrete.

Just don't forget to do all the wiring before placing the generators in the concrete

I did that just fine in Sanctuary without needing an exploit: I started with two shack foundations in the river. I placed a generator on one and a tall power pole on the other. Then I put walls up around it, and a roof over the generator. I placed the launcher on the roof, then wired the whole thing up. I did the same thing on the opposite side of the bridge, the fortified the entry to Sanctuary with metal walls, guard towers and machine gun turrets. The only way the raiders can get close to the launchers is through a single door in the wall, which leads to a hallway; the hallway has regular alcoves that store machine gun turrets of their own and traps throughout. And if they make it through that, they will immediately find a two-story fortress that is similarly heavily armed.

Well I managed to get MacCready's perk, so thankfully I can get rid of that idiot.
I now have Strong, blimey what a difference, as soon as you engage hostiles he's in charging with his sledgehammer even when I gave him a gun, shouting 'Ha you lose ! '.

So I just found out that some mods doesn't end up in their proper folders and just floating around in Data folder.

that's how mods work - at least esp files, just sit in the data folder
Only things like textures go into various folders

What are people hoping for from DLC story-wise? Or what would you do for a DLC story?

Have recently received the Institute Killer Weave mod, at a craft station I cannot see where I can use it. I've seen ballistic weave but not the Institute one, anyone have this or know about this.

Yes I'm talking about texture folders. Some of them have to be installed manually I guess. I'm cleaning up my mods and saw how messy they were.

I'm hoping that DLC will add on more seamlessly than they have in the past.

It bugged me that I'd get an immediate notification of a location. I'd make it harder to find the stories.

Maybe you need a synth armour part first

You can repack the textures into the proper folders if you want NMM to do it properly I guess. Read their instructions, to make sure...
Me, I normally put the textures into their own folders, under a data folder in the Mods folder and use the JSGME mod manager to move them where they should be.

So I can uninstall them later on or detect conflicts, unlike doing it manually.
Although you can do the same thing in NMM but it's more comlicated
Some mods like Pipware UI can't be done through NMM

Probably extend that extra section of the map next to the glowing sea, maybe or something similar

Anyone have the partner stuck outside Cryogenic chamber bug?

Started a new game after this new patch, and everytime your in the vault at the start of the game, your partner is stuck outside Cryogenic chamber, after you get awakened.
And you can see the person walking and trying to get into the cyro pod.
So the game just stays there and you can't proceed!

Never had this issue in V1.0 or the beta patches....

Yes I have a save outside of the vault just after exiting, and I use various console commands to change my appearance and my SPECIAL, but still, very annoying Bethseda

I would love to see aliens like Mothership Zeta. For some reason Fallout is appropriate for that sort of thing

Not sure about Aliens, they scare the hell out me. On the mothership Zeta I couldn't leave until I knew every Alien was killed, could not switch the console off or go to bed until I knew, paranoid I know.
What could be interesting is having an out of area Faction like the Enclave or something totally different move in, and therefore do you make alliances or go it alone to combat them or even join.
