To correct someone earlier, In the movie "Bullitt", Steve McQueen drives a '68 Ford Mustang GT w/ a 390, he chases the bad guys who are driving a '68 Dodge Charger R/T w/ a 440. Both are Manual shift 👍 .

The car I wish GT4 had the most, from a movie is the '70 Porsche 917K.
It won Le Mans in '70, and was in the movie "LeMans" staring Steve McQueen. How many other cars do you know of that have a flat 12?

This car and ones by ferrari around this time in history set the stage for Lemans cars for years to come. Back then the Porsches (917K) and Ferraris (512) would be hitting around 230 MPH on the mulsane straight. The cars haven't gotten much faster since. In my opinion these were the best years for LM.

What about the Jensen Interceptor they used in the English series, The Professionals or The Avengers (was that an English show?) Some of you UK members must know this one.

For it's time, that is one hell of a car. :)

Good call. Don't forget Mrs. Peel's Elan from The Avengers...

What about the riced cars from The Fast and The Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Do they count as famous cars? Skylines, Evos, S2000's, the list goes on.

Then there's the Panda AE86 used in the Initial D series...

This famous car thing could go on forever.
GT4 is full of famous cars because, well, it's full of cars.

But, there is no Eleanor.

There are no Firebirds, so we can't have the T/A from Smokey and the Bandit.
Or K.I.T. ("I do not think I can catch that Corvette, Michael.")

What about JFK's limo? It certainly isn't a performance car...so maybe not.

Christine?

Or how about the jet car from Condorman?

Hey, one more...

<------
How about Tron's light cycle?

It's not a car...it's not even real, but...

{EDIT}
It does go at the speed of light...

Wow, a postwhore 👍 Altough you were right about K.I.T.T., without any doubt the coolest car featured in a move, ever! AND IT HAD A SUPER-TURBO MODE TO! OMFG!

Ah yeah Bond's 2CV! He drove that in For Your Eyes Only, to escape from the bad guys when they triggered the anti theft device on his white Turbo Esprit, which responded by exploding.

Bond also drove the car I most wanted to find in the game, an Alfetta GTV6, in Octopussy. He has excellent taste :sly:

I wish that yelow 2CV was in the game. It had a 4 cilinder engine from the Citröen GS instead of a 2 cilinder boxer because it hadto do some amazing stuntwork.
I believe it had about 40 mad horses under the bonet.

Here is a link to that scene: http://81.68.229.29/media/For_your_eyes_only.wmv

I agree with you, that Alfetta GTV6 should have been in the game.

The wonderful Camaro (a yenko clone) in 2F2F. Put on the Cragar look-alike rims and tune it to 425 hp. A black GTO from XXX (though it was a '67). But, you guys are right, this can go on forever...

I thougt this was about cars IN GT4?

DevilGTx
OJ's white Bronco?

Is that in GT4?

And that "Light Cycle"? It can go on forever, but lets try and keep it realistic. It's not just about naming famous cars is it? :)

they put the picture of the old style mini in the lightweight cup intro :yuck:

Apparently they just ripped that picture straight from GT3. I haven't gone back to check but it does look familiar. :)

Every five posts I've seen a "this can go on forever tee hee" cmon it's fun damnit!!

My favorite famous cars actually in GT4 are the Viper R/T10 and GTS coupe from the hit scifi series "Viper"(same rims, that's enough for me)

And the car I wish was in GT4 is Australia's 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe aka Mad Max's Interceptor; What an amazing car.

I just thought of this one while looking at my 1:18 scale model collection. It wasn't exactly in a movie but. . .

Porsche 550 A Spyder (The one James Dean Died in)

Or the modern replica which is actually affordable in real life. . .

Beck Spyder ( Another way to get around the Porsche excluded thing )

Out of curiosity - and slightly off topic - why would they have different versions of cars in different regions of the world? Why not add all of them to the game and make them available to everyone?

To encourage collecting? To permit 'add-on' discs later on?

probally since sony is a japanese company they did somthing special for japan :P

but why the mini :yuck:

I've heard that EVERY version has a slightly different array of cars ... it's not just the Japanese one ... and it's always puzzled me why they'd do this.

...but why the mini :yuck:

Umm, beacuse it's one of the most influecial cars ever.
Beacuse it's one of the best selling cars ever.
Because it had one of the longest production runs ever.
Because when it first came out it creamed it competitiors.
And plenty of other reasons.

People are still trying to copy it's design today. Nissan Micra, Suzuki Swift, Honda Civic, pretty much all small cars are based on the Mini design. Small engines using power-to-weight, wheels at the extreme corners to aid stability and interior room, etc. :)

Also I seem to recall that, speaking of the Tuscan in Swordfish, the Tuscan has never been type approved in the USA, I am not sure if it is even legal to drive one on the public road there? I suppose a personal import could be registered but.... has anyone done it? Or am I plain wrong?

There was a TVR Speed 6 brought into the states and driven. It still had it's home plates on it while it was here. Have you seen any of the Gumball 3000 videos? The guy from britain or england or whatever brought it over here to participate in the American Gumball 3000. I'm sure it wasn't exactly legal either. I don't know though. They may have made the guy do something to his car in order to drive it here for the short time he was here.

You can bring over TVRs to the US... kinda like a 'work visa' for cars, limited time and can't be registered in the US. Not cheap either. But if you run the Gumball, you can afford it.

I ran with these guys when they came thru Texas. Was on my way to work on a Sunday morning (suck) and spotted several Ferraris and a 930. I was going 120 in my Bullitt Mustang (movie car ref.) and wasn't close to keeping up.

Oh- the RUF Yellowbird is in the RUF video on Nurburgring. Makes that a CAR and a TRACK from GT4. LeMans starring Steve McQueen. Make that the laSarth II track, pre chicanes.
