Yeah I fear my load cell might be bad or something. I am wondering if it is 'sticking'. For now I think I will fallback to the T500rs til I get a chance to take these brakes apart. Hm, maybe I will just remap the Clutch as my brake for now đź’ˇ

I have a question about the CSP firmware update. Is it a critical update for the CSPs? I have had my CSPs for almost 2 years now and they are still working great. I have never updated the firmware. Just would like to know if the update is recommended and what improvements will I see.

no it is not critical. this is only to be used if you have had a problem with the brake deadzone from the very first time you used the pedal.
it is to be able to compensate for machine work errors that would have given a symptom of the brake pedal not fully returning to its rest when releasing.
if your pedal had run properly for a while and then suddenly started to have a deadzone problem then it is usually cleaning and lubricating of the guide block that will fix this problem.
a simple test for this problem would be to go into the pedal telemetry and look at the pedal percentage when at rest - if it is above 0% then try pulling back on the pedal with your hand - if it goes down to 0% then it is a simple case of mechanical binding ( so clean your pedals properly )

Very helpful info, would this also be applicable to elite pedals, or do they not suffer the same prob? (mine work great, just curious)

Anyone know why the CSR and CSR value pack are no longer on the website? I was just about to order the value pack. :grumpy:

well if it's made to order, I'd do what I do at jack in the box, except instead of asking for extra lettuce on my burger, I'd ask for a BMW GTE rim on my CSRE!

What do people here with Clubsport and Elite pedals lubricate them with? Is there a diagram on how to do it? Does it always involve taking them appart? I just got my Elites at Christmas and I'm getting a squeak on the accel pedal.

I had the same squeak too, spray some silicon spray on the place were the rod is connected to the gaspedal. That solved it for me.

Bicycle dry chain lube should work quite well. If I recall that's what Thomas recommended in his video tutorial on the CSPs

I've had many Fanatec wheels over the years and i gotta say that WHEN they work they are pretty good racing wheels. Turbo S was ok (replaced once), GT2 was the best, i just couldn't live with the plasticky noises and rattles (i sold it). The CSR wasn't as good as the GT2, strange feeling around the center, too much plastic etc. (i sold it). I don't know what to say about CSR Elite? I don't feel the same small details what i felt with the GT2. The wheel is almost too strong? I've got the same shaft clanking problem as almost everybody else has. The shifter paddles are too noisy (nobody sleeps in my house if i shift manually), not to mention the CSR H-shifter (replaced once), which wakes up even the dead... I hate the fact that everytime in PS3-mode before the race starts the wheel is off-centered. The wheel still sounds like a hand dryer. I LIKE the metal frame. The wheel has 4 red buttons that are impossible to reach for a normal human being. I've noticed that i use the wheel ONLY in FM4 (the game somehow sucks sweaty manballs) and Dirt 3 on PS3 (only game where the CSR Elite is better than G27). I love the simplicity of the G27. Gran Turismo 5, the G27 is better (ok, the rallying makes the wheel go berserk and noisy), WRC 2 (PS3), the G27 is light years ahead of the CSR "Elite", Shift 2 (PS3), again G27 and light years. So i (we) need new firmwares and updates badly to justify the pricetag and the numerous problems of the CSR Elite!

No normal human can reach the 4 red buttons? I mean, I'm not exactly "average" size at 6'2" (188cm) but I'm not a mythical beast either. With that said, I can reach the buttons easily, I actually use them quite regularly in races for going through timer and pit menus and stuff. I guess if you have average (small) hands, it might be a problem, but I've had a couple friends who were under 6ft tall and had no problems with those buttons either.

Ha ha mythical beast :dopey:. I may have over exaggerated a little. BUT they are still hard to reach. I'm 180cm with normal sized hands.

My friend is missing half his thumb on his right hand and the buttons didn't bother him at all. The wheel dies require more setup than others but is quite amazing. When using a FWD car the torque is awesome. I do agree that the vibration motors need to be stronger.

I just want to say that the 787B in forza and the CSR Elite is one of the greatest combos of any sort known to man. better than peanut butter and jelly, better than M&Ms and popcorn, even better than bacon and more bacon.

that is all.

It seems that you have missed most of the greatest things known to man, men particularly :)

If anyone knows how to contact thomas directly, i would reeeeeally like to know if they are working on another firmware update for the elite to fix the issue that causes ff motor to burn out. im still on firmware 715 which is okay, but theres a huge deadzone in forza with this version and i'm not going to download 721b if it is causing all these motor failures. whats the deal with the next firmware release thomas? Is it being worked on?

Where did you get the idea that the firmware 721b is causing this?

If this would be the case, if think you would see an update within 24 hours

What?

I'm on 721b and my motors haven't burnt out, been running it pretty hard too since the day I got it. I think you are being overly paranoid, but you can hold off if you want....your choice of course.

I would like to state that I don't think a firmware update would fix anything. When you press pause, on most wheels the wheel snaps to center. Most games are coded for one motor wheels, so sometimes the game tells both motors to center themselves. This causes the motors to combat each other, burning one of them out. (The lower one, as that one is the one that tends to run warm faster.)

Are you sure you know what you are talking about?
I don't have enough information to make a good argument, but I am pretty sure game has no idea about whether the wheel has one or two motors and does not really care, how the centering is done, it just sends the center command. Wheel does that as it is programmed to do, centers with certain force and if everything is ok, there should be no more work done by any motor once it is in center position.
Also I do not know if motors are programmed to counter each other. Iit would make sense for both motors to work synchronously in order to maximize belt traction. 2 pulleys = 2 times the friction and we don't want belt slipping, right?
I must say I haven't observed what is going on in Forza while wheel idles, because I had no problems, but I certainly will.

If you go on Fanatec's support page there is firmware I've linked below to update the CSPs so it will have a higher deadzone value to alleviate this issue. Be sure to make sure the brake pedal is lubricated properly (steel shaft and the foam) to be sure it's not sticking on you.

The V2 link is to be used if the V1 causes a loss of the vibration function.

The problem seemed even more apparent when I applied that firmware update so I contacted customer support, attached a video, and they replied that they will be sending me a new load cell a couple hrs after I emailed them everything :dopey:

In the meanwhile I've remapped my clutch to be my brake and I've been button clutching (iRacing). It's a darn shame the average console game doesn't allow such a basic feature.

Going to go download my new ALMS Pack!!!! Love the Forza Planet DLC Competitions!

Not to go too off topic here, but what's the deal with the ALMS pack? Is it just going to be ALMS cars or are they adding ALMS style multi-class endurance (2hr+) races?

Exactly, the games are all programmed to send the codes to the wheels internal circuitry, where it decifers the code and the firmware tells the wheel to center itself. How can this not be software related as it controls the motors position, strength, timing, direction, EVERYTHING. What else could it be? And if it is not firmware related why was this never an issue with 715? My real issue is why is Thomas not even commenting on this issue or saying that they're working on a solution?

The title car (Audi) is from the ALMS.
The rest of the cars are mixed e.g. AUDI sport quattro S1 :D:D:D

edit:
On the topic, I'm really thinking about getting a CSR to my CSR-Elite for my second rig.
This is really a killer offer, that Fanatec announced ;)
