btw fanatec announced that "I can also confirm that we will bring a new firmware version for the CSR wheel with autoclutch and this feature will remain exclusive to the CSR and CSR Elite wheel. " http://911wheel.de/?q=node/7945

Just bought GT2? buhahhh..

I still play with turbo S wheel and I do not see how anyone would buy new wheel just for auto-clutch and I therefore can not understand what fanatec is hoping to gain form dropping firmware support for old wheels. I mean those two people that still have a working old turbo S without warranty could be very happy if they got firmware updates at least for time before the wheel dies :)

I am still waiting for proper CS wheel. (might also consider elite with better rim)

Also Thomas said this previously:
"715 will bring several improvements and bugfixes.

Issue with shifter paddles on Xbox360
Imporved force feedback effects
Autoclutch
Improved damper on PC and PS3. PC needs a driver for further imporvement but this will follow soon.

"This version is only compatible with CSR Elite but we are working on a similar version for the CSR, PWGT2 and PWTS wheels."

Having had my PWTS replaced by a CSR (Thanks fanatec tech support!), I can say that for my hands, the different ergonomics (slightly worse) do mean an auto-clutch feature is more welcome on the CSR..

Although I would say that it would be more endearing for Fanatec to create new GT2/PWTS firmware up to date for this kind of thing..

Hmm, Makes mental note of Fanatec dropping upgrading features (ACL) for older hardware.

Nice move Thomas.

The autoclutch feature only works with the paddles, right? And it was made for Forza? I think Fanatec's decision to only have it on the Forza-branded wheels was a good decision. However, I have a CSR wheel and I doubt I'd use it...it seems like a cheat to me.

Could you elaborate in why It's a good decision.

I bought a GT2 for Forza, did I make a bad decision? Well maybe I did.

Note that that firmware had other fixes also that will not be seen on older wheels.

Also turbo S was an official fanatec wheel for forza 3. One wheel per game is it now then :) ?

Isn't this just simple business methods? To try and sell more of the 'newer' product?

Off topic, but, Apple regularly use this tactic. Each iDevice is only supported for a couple of years then gets forgotten about.

not sure why this is such a shock?

the turbo S and GT2 have a clear advantage on the CSR in most areas, so it's not a shock that thomas has added a feature to the CSR that gives it a unique advantage on the internal competition.

So I got my replacement load cell earlier today but no idea how to replace it? I've already taken apart the brakes, etc as shown in Thomas CSP video. But no idea how to pop out this old load cell. Do you just shove this thing out of that black harness? :dunce:

edit: Found this link at turn 10 forums how to replace the load cell on Clubsport brakes

Just wondering if this delay is because of prduction issues, chinese holidays or a secret CSW production?

Justkidding :)

as an avid Cuber (rubix cube / twisty puzzles) i know what the Chinese new year is all about. they just SHUT DOWN for 2 months. just everything. Most puzzles are mass produced in china and shipments just STOP when this time comes around each year. fun times.

Thomas said they made some last minute hardware changes and was targeting late Q1 (March April).

Hardware changes = improvement in durability or reliability. So we shouldn't mind the wait. 👍 (as long as it's before Christmas that is :dopey: )

If it's because of secret CSW production I would be fine with that :). The CSW is what I want like everyone else, but I was going to get a elite to hold me over, but they keep getting pushed back now. I'm still going to try and get one when they do get back in stock, becuase I think the CSW is still a few months away.

For the elite? or csw?

Production times for the CSW. So late Q1 is when they plan to start making them from what I've read. I'm guessing if that's the case it would be about a month or so after production starts before they would be available to purchase. It's looking like maybe around May before the CSW will be out.

Very disappointing no news on the CSW. The hype machine for this wheel has crashed at a halt. Also wondering bout that formula rim for the csr-e. I'm in no hurry but I miss the updates

Oh snap 1600 posts FTW!

Looks like everybody can apply as review manager.

I am out of luck because I just criticised fanatec not updating GT2 firmware anymore :D

I signed on, but did not realize it was to be a manager. I rescind the offer as being a community test manager would likely take time I cannot commit to.

A tester on the other hand.................

I think that license plate qualifies you right there.

And free advertisement for Thomas on my behalf, lol. :sly:

kidding aside, sounds like "community manager" has more than just testing involved, and I work nearly 50-60hrs/week and can only race some nights if I feel up to it, but mainly weekends. I would love to test and review, but to be in charge of several is more than I am up to currently.

Not sure who gets my vote for the poll.... there are a few cool ppl around!

One question.... Is that plate real?

I think that license plate qualifies you right there.

nope just makes him a fanboy, and I would disqualify him on the basis of objectivity

PS - i am not interested in being a tester or manager. interested to know when Fanatec will improve their website payment method and customer service. then i will buy a CSW w/ BMW rim. Thomas sort it out please ;)
