all these people defending chinese manufacturing quality, what a frickin joke lol. dont be so sensative, i actually am aware that EVERYTHING is made in china, i just dont have to smile when they shovel that load of garbage into my mouth. so what about apple? you think companies outsource their production to china because the chinese industry is the most technically advanced or precisely engineered? ya right, more like they undercut every other country's cost to production ratio so thats where all the jobs go. and before you go on some rant about supply and demand, spare me- i understand that too, but i'll always do my best to look at labels and not buy the ones that support the chinese taking jobs overseas even if i have to spend a little more.

You rant about quality and cost, and even mention that the people are payed very little for their work there. You forget to mention the time they have to assemble their stuff onto the product and check if it is done right or if the parts they put on there are in proper condition. Actually they don't have time to check anything and they just put stuff on there in the hope it'll go okay.
This is the reason I said that the good ladies and men in China need to take their time (and hope Thomas gives that to them) so they can check and double check the quality they are delivering. Like I said... nothing good comes from rushing things. So this alone should improve quality and they can have a bit of a breather during inspection. Sure there will be less products coming off of the line in a day, which might make assembly a bit more expensive. However to me that would be worth it.

Besides, in this world we are all human and have the same capabilities. So if a western person can deliver quality, so can an Asian person. If only you give the Asian person as much time to make sure he/she delivered a quality product.
The reason an Asian person doesn't protest much however compared to at least a European, is because we have a social system that catches us if we don't have a job. So we are taken care of. In Asian however this is not so much the case, losing your job can have huge consequences. Also Asian people by nature are not the type to protest quickly like we do. There is a whole different mentality there. So they'll easier oblige to a bad pay then we do or working circumstances for that matter.

Anyhow, it's not like they can't deliver quality... it's because they often don't have the time to deliver it.
 
^^ Indeed, some factory jobs pay out insanely in relation to skill. I have an idea for America, shut down half the fast food/restaurants and move these people into assembly work at $15-18.
Everybody benefits! No money moves to China/Asia, the obesity epidemic will improve, quality assurance standards will be better regulated and the economy will just be more self sufficient. Honestly I can't even believe the amount of restaurants that can apparently operate with profits in America.. insane! Anyway, this is a German product and simply faces the same business decision as billions of other products in these days.

Will there be a racing game which makes it worth to add support? To be honest, I did not even buy a Wii up to now but perhaps this might change if there will be decent racing games for this platform.

Project CARS is confirmed for it.
Pretty hardcore I would guess.

Wouldn't want my Mario kart wii wheel for it, that's for sure.

PC version around the end of 2012. I would imagine 2013 for consoles.
 
You are always welcome to see hardworking Germans, busy to export our know-how to China and and to educate less developed nations to become better. (In reality you will just see a bunch of guys racing in RennSport Cockpits and some others counting money)

Be careful what you say though... I might come over and race against you someday in one of those cockpits. It's just a day's drive away... when I drive slowly. :sly:

There is a reason apple and ThomasM(fanatec) and every other company mass produces in china.

In fairness I lie a little bit. Not all manufacturing is in china. Our family's business is British manufacturing which is bespoke not mass produced.

Guys, is there any racing game for Wii U?

Wii U hardware will be outdated in 2 years the most and I don't see any point in investing in it. I would personally not buy Wii U even if there was a racing game for it.
Why, you would ask? Because there are 3 other platforms that already have tons of great racing titles, these are so refined and mature that there is no place for a new platform.
 
Amf, Taiwan, India, Vietnam etc. are also on the list, China has better environment for business and security compared to other countries with cheap workforce and it is established in every way.
 
However like I said its not as much about cheap labour. It's about supply chains etc. how. Any places can you find so many people willing to work at such short notice. I believe the article says something along the. Lines if. There is not much labour going into making things like the iPhone.

It was the fact they can source most of the parts in china

Well i'm glad I live in a country where there is no consequences for loosing your job! haha :confused:
And i completely disagree that if Chinese workers were given more time to produce a product they would spend more time scrutineering. No they would instead finish the product assembly in the same amount of time given by their suppliers (which I agree is probably not much) but then they would focus their attention to a beginning a different product. It is simply their business ethic, produce produce produce- quick and cheap, then onto the next. If they were given more time to produce, it means they'd produce more, not fine tune more. Its just their successful business model they've engineered as a nation. Other countries see quality control vs production output differently in terms of prioritizing.
 
I appologize for derailing this thread, completely my fault! But... since we're still not talking about Fanatec products, can I just add this one link and then I'll stay out for a while I promise! Maybe you've seen it maybe you haven't, but it literally made the hair stand up on the back of my neck today, i almost teared up-seriously!
Its a Shell commercial in which Ferrari pulled several of their race cars from various ages out of storage, flew them around the world, and filmed them running through the streets of Rome , Rio , New York , Hong Kong , Honolulu , and Monaco . NO COMPUTER GRAPHICS!---these are the original cars on the original streets. Just, wow...

OK enough about China! Regardless if you approve of their manufacturing practices or not, currently and for the foreseeable future, they do produce many of the products we know and love.

Leave it alone. Let's get back to talking Fanatec products.
 
Got my CSR-Elite in a few days ago, but am still building my new cockpit, so I haven't had much testing done until today. My initial thoughts are pretty positive. I really like the feel of the force feedback in iRacing, GPL, and rFactor 2. I'm able to detect traction loss and understeer through the wheel quite a bit better than I was with my old G25 (not at all) and my old CSR (a little). Everything is very smooth with the way the wheel turns and responds, even more than I expected from reading the reviews on here and other sites.

I still don't like the wheel rim, not even a little bit, but I'm willing to deal with it for now while waiting for the CSW to come out.

Haven't had any problems yet, but then again I've only used the wheel for maybe 3hrs total, and none of that has been endurance testing yet. Hopefully it will stay problem free.

Appearently it was a real commercial that aired only in europe, not sure why, i love the scene where the car kisses the guard rail, or how about that 90's f1 car screaming down the beachfront boardwalk! howd they do it without cgi?
 
I don´t know if it´s mentioned before but on the new ISR show you can see a new type of CSP (V2??).
It also was shown before on a japanese website as CSP V2.

The pedals do look extremely similar to what we saw on the Yahoo blog. The color scheme is the same. You can even see the purple/pink spring or damper on the brake assembly.

Hopefully they also fixed the sporadic issue with the brake "sticking" after full or partial pedal travel that a handful of people have complained about on the first version. A more durable load cell would be amazing, too.
