Oh lol, its April 1st. CTMs it would be wise not to make your main posts today.

As far as the pricing is concerned, I am pretty sure it is all subject to change. Silly mistake not following the directions though.
 
I see.. The confusing part for the mod is it says

"Sean Cebron, or better known as Sonac of f-wheel.com, will take over the handling for all these tests and will notify the appointed community test managers today."

I think the mod thinks that it should be Sonacs doing the forum posts *facepalm*

Reading is hard hence I gave 'estimates'. However I can not be blamed for this though. If Jogo didn't post the prices here I would have kept my mouth shut and informed the winner of the poll about the correct prices as well as the rest.

It is always someone that spill the beans I suppose.

Last I checked LogiForce the www is a public place, I spilled no beans, someone else could have done the same, Thomas listed all the CTM links on his blog, just a matter of clicking on a link, don't blame me, blame the obscure directions.

I guess another way to look at this is someone at Fanatec failed in due diligence to ensure the CTM postings were within their set guidelines. You are crossing a line here.

I don't blame you for spilling the beans. I am not shooting the messenger. It is just that I could have kept a lid on it if nobody posted, but indeed it was bound to happen. Anyway, I don't blame you and I am sorry if it came across like that.

On another note. The pricing of the rims is incorrect I just hear from Sonac. I will be mailed as soon with the correct prices. They most likely need to be switched around I reckon. Like you guys noticed already. ;)
 
Alright prices of the rims are switched around. There was just a simple mix up.
 
I remember Thomas stating a whileback that both rims would be the same price. Giving users to option to choose either wheel setup. I have no real high interest in the formula style rims and really am dissapointed if there is 2 price points for the "stock" rim packages. I understand licensing and all but maybe raise profit margin slightly on the formula bundle and drop some on the BMW. Its like gas stations here in the states who advertise cash/ credit same price. The cash paying customers are helping to paythe credit card companies business user fees while the credit card users are paying less than the actual fee charged on their purchase.

At the end of the day most people would want it for free though. :p

But to be honest, I am sure Thomas has his reasons for these prices. Like the license as well as the fact that more real alcantara is used on the BMW rim. He might want to keep the price point for the Formula rim low so the price to get started isn't that high. These are all guesses though. But this is what it is and we have to accepting wether we like it or not.
 
Very true. Just expressing my opinion.

Of course we all want it free, but I was being realistic. 80$ is a decent chunck even when talking about a 600 wheel. Difference for some of going clubsport or elite pedals.
Add to the price of the required table clamp and your looking at near 800 for just the wheel alone for those that don't have a rig or stand yet. Not that the target audience is the newer wheel user, but you will see complaints about that one too.

Again, just expressing my dismay.
We were told 600$ for the CSW with either launch rim. Now it is more no matter which rim you choose den before the table clamp.

If the licensing is what added such a significant cost Increase, why not just make a generic wheel that looks close to that BMW rim like they are doing with the formula style rim. Then for round 2 of rim releases due licensed versions.

As a Porsche wheel user, its kind of strange driving Ferrari's Chevy's etc. With the Porsche logo at your finger tips ;) ............game breaking even....... kidding......



Edit: curious to know why they csr:e still has the first batch fly in price with the extra 40 per wheel as well. I thought after the first batch it was going back to 500.

Don't forget Thomas said that he has made some changes to the CSW since it was first announced. I do not want to be blunt, but if that means it will be more reliable, its probably worth the extra cost.

All the more reason to apply for the community test.

Those changes were made to the base, which meets the target price that was stated months ago.

To be clear, its not really the price that gets me. Its being told one thing, and then getting a whole different truth.

As I mentioned, csr:e are still on site for 539 ???? When that price was for the first batch so users could get them faster it was understandable, but now that the csr:e is an "instock" product why is the flight charge from China to distribution points still there, or did I miss something along the way and all wheels are now being delivered to fanatec that way instead of by container ship.

Not bashing Thomas, or fanatec as a whole. Most of you know I am usually one to come to their defense. I own 2 wheels and pedal sets and have my eyes on the csw which has been no secret since these (e and w )wheels were announced.

If the shifter gets a 20 % price increase over it's targeted price of 100 you are now looking at 100$ increase over expected and told prices. In other words, the target price of the shifter.



This IMO is Thomas's biggest fault. Giving us target pricing and seemingly pretty convincing ( or convinced himself/???) That they will and can be met. I would rather a sort of silence until all variables are known. Or give us later dates and higher target prices than those of wgich he is told. If it comes in under price/ before date it makes the consumer happier than delayed delays and sudden price increases.

Yes $80 is just about 60euros, i vaguely remember some discussion about the weird pricing, anyone know why we europe pays 80 euros instead of 60?

No idea :( the 80€ includes all taxes though. However I don't know now much taxes are in America.

regarding the pricing of the rims: Thomas never wrote somewhere how much the BMW rim will cost at launch.. I expected something between 250-300 for this thing..

I am positive rim pricing was discussed. Very early on.
I have a sad feeling we will be seeing the same air freight charges tacked onto the csw when it releases as well.

I do not believe for a minute production of one product is causing shipping delays in another product. What happens when. The csw releases and production ramps up o. CSS/csh.

I don't think this increase in the csre is going anywhere anytime. But whatever. My eyes are still on the csw.


Apologize if any of this came out as bashing. Really not my intention.
 
It's not more then normal to respond that way Caz. In this day and age there is little trust and when there is then it is often destroyed due to broken promises. Hence we start to look at everything with a questioning look. I do as well and many others around me. So you won't hear me say you are bashing at all, you are just doubtful is all. ;)
 
I was under the impression the csw with one rim was to be about the same price as the elite. Just no xbox support but, quick release rim and more buttons on pc. I believe they just priced this out of what Im comfortable with spending on a sim wheel. $550 was pushing the limits before, but $700 is just a little much. I think the price differences in the rims has more to with sales than anything else. The gt rim will probably sell close to 2 to 1 over the f1 rim.

The base is sold separately from any rims as far as I know. This has been said on multiple occasion by Thomas in the past. The motivation was so you could choose the rim that you will require the most first for your game(s). So one that only drives open wheelers would pick a Formula rim with their base, anyone that drives more often in normal cars with a normal steering wheel would currently most likely want to acquire a BMW GT2 rim as their first rim with their base.

Thomas could have send a BMW GT2 rim with the CSW base, but realize that you would the. Still have to pay the same price as both of those products prices added up at the end of the day. so it wouldn't make a difference in price.
 
So it's 450 Euro/Dollars for base with no wheel?
I was lead to believe the price point would be similar to the elite. Basically gaining the ability to swap wheels but losing the Xbox comparability.
 
The base is just the base. The story early on was 600$ for the base and a rim. 2 rims were shown and both were confirmed to be available at launch for 600$.

I'm on my phone otherwise I'd go digging.

Maybe because the Elite comes with a wheel.
Unless I'm mistaken the CSW doesn't.

Who knows for sure. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors ATM. Plus we don't know the full specs on the CSW base.

Exactly. 450$ for the base is what I always expected. No surprises therefor me.
 
I'm sure they showed it with a rim simalair to the CSR:E one..just minus the Forza logo on the front.
