Yeah I was really looking forward to this wheel. I just cant justify $700 for a steering wheel. This is from a guy who spent $250 to upgrade my brake pedal. Still cant see where the $500 upgrade is compared to a g27. Maybe someone can help me see it?

as a CSRE owner, I can tell you that the base is not only miles ahead but a full class ahead of the G27. I've not used any of the CSW rims yet, but if they're anything like normal fanatec rims, they're far better than the G27 rim.

however, we already know they're not like normal fanatec rims, they're far nicer. better than any other purpose built gaming rim I've ever seen. far better even.

You are right, and the Elite is G25 pedals compatible. I have just seen the AP Electrix Load Cell review and it is a cheaper alternative than throw my g25 pedals away and switch to Clubsport pedals (it will be easier to upgrade the wheel, then the pedals later). When moving to Clubsport Wheel, you have to switch to Fanatec pedals (wich are great, but more expensive than a G25 adapter ;) )

Love the passion about simracing here, I read a lot of your posts and really appreciate. Such a shame I suck when trying to write or speak english while I have no problem to read or listen :)

I can't speak for everyone of course, but I know there are more than a few of us who only bought the CSR-E because it came out before the CSW. This CSR-E is going up for sale as soon as I do a run-in test of the CSW for a couple days.

Where would you sell it and how much would you ask for it? (just curious about doing the same)
 
I wonder if it would be possible to get the gt wheel without the twin shifter clutch thingy? That could drop the price pretty good and not add any new production times. Just a thought for some of us old school stick shifters to save a buck.

You mean the paddle shifters? I don't think they would offer it without paddle shifters as many GT cars now use paddle shifters.

I might add my Elite wheel for sale over their as well. I don't think mine has 10 hours on it.

Question, will the BMW Rim fit on the Elite base?
 
The BMW GT wheel designed for the CSW will not fit on the CSR-E base. However they have said they are developing a CSR-E version of both the Formula wheel and the BMW GT wheel.

Is this a fact? Seems like CSW is not for me then. I have hard mounted and inverted g25 pedals and there is nothing major wrong in them for me.

As super bike said, the quick release is a big difference.

Also I think the CSW will have more buttons than the elite wheel, as the elite wheel has to conform to Microsoft's licensing laws.

Probably will be made from a cheaper material for the elite wheel.

I already have the CSR Elite (since the release date) and i'm thinking very hard about getting the CSW too.

I also applied for the CSW community test here on GT Planet.

My focus on reviewing the CSW wheel would be on comparing it with the CSR Elite. This would help a lot of sim racers to choose between the two Fanatec wheels.

I love my CSR Elite, but besides a better wheel rim, i expect more from the CSW than just a quick release and some extra buttons.
 
Guys there is more to the CSW then buttons or quick release. So much so that I can't wait for any extras that will come out. Or have you all forgotten the fact about having telemetry on your smartphone and other stuff talked about at introduction. ;)

Maybe I should ask HoiHman if he can let me drive in an M3 so I know how it should feel though. :P

I think the discussion of differences in this case is between the BMW csw rim and the rumored BMW csr:e rim.

I see no technical reasons for there to be a necessary difference. Apart from the release system of course and maybe at most 3 buttons less at most. Say the 3 under the display.

Well, it was just one of the things Thomas said from the top of his head while he was explaining the 4 screw holes behind the rim on the base. So if it will get implemented, cant say for sure. Would like it though. ;)

True, but at most it would just support fixed shifter paddles on it. Which hook up to the shifter port on the back. To gather telemetry you can do that via a game plugin and wifi/Bluetooth to a smartphone on a holder on your wheel. Another way would be that you gather the telemetry right off of the wheel, right off of your user input. How this would work, I dunno. Maybe via a driver or maybe there is a way to transfer the data right from the wheel to the phone somehow so it's useable on console too. I have no clue which goodies are still in store for us, but I am sure the CSW will be placed well above the CSR E. After all Thomas designed it to last and have almost infinite possibilities as far as I know.

May I ask how you know that it won't be able to support telemetry? Seen as you have the CSW I assume you must have seen some additional data ports? If it dosent then these same accessories for the CSW should also work for the CSR E?
 
Thomas, if you're reading this, please consider non-alcantara rims for the csr elite.

I'm probably one of the few that actually likes the feel of the plastic csr elite rim. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks like a toy and don't like the way it's joined together. But I prefer it to alcantara. Alcantara absorbs too much sweat and holds it there. After a racing session, it's like holding onto a wet towel.

I'm sick of wearing gloves all the time. It's just not fun in summer. Give us the option for rubber/plastic/leather. I'll take any of those.

That would be the same if i was starting to offer BMW drives on the forums. :) LOL

But back on topic: I think that there will be an phone / ipod holder for the CSW and the CSR Elite (it's just a metal bracket)

I hope that the CSW will have some decent driver software (something like Profiler from Logitech) to manage all those extra buttons

The main difference with the CSW would be the advanced electronics and the ability to go above 100% in FFB and shock in the tuning menu's

All just guessing, but we will know more in a couple of weeks.👍
