It works ;-)

But the annoying bug/feature where you can't upshift wis gaz applied or over revving is still there. You fall on a false neutral very often. It totally ruins the experience of the clutch IMHO.

Hi guys

Just a quickie question i have this wheel but no firmware updates yet do i need to update 669 firmware before firmware 681 or will 681 be all i need to get these settings?

Cheers

I went straight from FW 631 to FW 681, no problem.

Wen't straight from 669 to 681 : no problem ;)

Edit : talking about GT5. We have it in Europe since last Saturday.

How can I download the latest firmware for the GT3RS V2 wheel? I can't seem to find a support page on fanatec's site for this wheel, only carrera and turbo wheel S are there :(

Hi, i bought a PWTS back in August and just played GT5 and have got this jerking on the straights.

I know the firmware update should get rid of this but I have read comments on Thomas' blog about calibration problems and other things when people have updated and reading that damage caused by firmware updates is not under warranty has prevented me from updating before now (£300+ wheel with no warranty scares me :nervous:)

So to all of you who have updated to FW681, did any of you experience any problems and are there any particular issues when updating using Win7 32-bit software?

Cheers

No problems if you set Dea at 20 or 30 in the wheel menu.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, I meant when you were updating your wheels firmware, did you have any problems to do with calibration etc. which I have read on Thomas' blog?

Thanks for the reply

I'm using a Sony vaio windows 7 and I downloaded pw_64_driver_104 from fanatec site and I'm trying to install firmware rev_681 to my Porsche turbo s wheel and I can't do it please help.

FFB in GT5 : 5

On wheel : 900° , FFB 100, sho 100, abs 100, drift 2, deadzone 10, the rest is off 0

For updating :
Take windows XP 32 bit to be sure (as recommended, there is a reason) . And then follow the instruction step by step. No worries

No problems at all. However, you do need to recalibrate your wheel and shifter after doing any firmware update. If you have the manual (pdf file) it will walk you through the calibration process. Only takes a minute.

;)

I am not only having the issues with the strong torque of the wheel on straits, but the peddles do not seem to be working properly, and occassionally after spinning out the car will not start to move unless I shift into 2nd gear. It will just sit in first revving the engine.

For the peddles problem it mostly seems to be with the breaks. I'm only pressing down on the gas, and on screen it shows just a bit of break is also engaged. This cause my acceleration to slow down, and sometimes even stop as I just maintain speed.

Other times the break will not fully engage when I need it to. For example doing the first License test for starting and stopping, my car never stops in time because the breaks only engage at a 5th of full breaking power.

I popped in Forza 3, and none of these issues are present there. So it's not like my peddles aren't working.

Cheers, I will update later today then, thanks for all the help

I have come over to PS3 and GT5 having played hours of FM2, FM3 and F1 2010 on the Xbox.

I use the Fanatec PWTS and CSP and in all honesty the set up and feel i have had up until now has been awesome.

Having only purchased my PS3 and GT5 yesterday i am new to the firmware that is on the Fanatec site and as i am having issues with wheel wobble in all cars, fast or slow in a straight line i have picked the bones from this the threads that i need to update to FW681.

I am sorry to be a pain to all you experienced firmware updaters, but is there an idiots guide somewhere on hoe to do it correctly? I use a mac not a pc so have my brother coming over tonight as i have read it is ideal to use Windows XP but so that i am prepared could any of you help me with where i can find a walkthrough on updating the dongle please - I bought my Fanatec in December 2009 and have never used the dongle until yesterday so i don't have any idea what version of firmware is on there, all i do know is that the driving experience is very wrong until i have more control over deadzones etc as some of you have kindly mentioned.

My thanks for listening,

I am in the exact same situation with a brand new PS3 and GT5. I also have a Mac and don't know how to install the firmware update. I hope Polyphony will release an update where it will be possible to change the deadzone in the game. Have no idea why it's not already possible. :odd:

I'm not sure you need to update the dongle.
All instructions really are in the firmware download on the fanatec site in PDF form as well as a word copy. They are pretty instructive this time too.
Just follow them presicely and you should be good.

I'm still on the Ultimate Edition firmware (v669), so I can't recommend dPr or SPr settings yet. But here's what works for me:

GT5 Settings:

Steering Type- Simulation (though I think this is a placebo for this wheel)
Power Assist- On
Force Feedback- 2 or 3

PWTS Settings:

Sensitivity: 900
Force Feedback: 40-60
Shock: 70
ABS: 85 (right before lockup on my ClubSport Pedals)
Drift: Usually 0, 2 for some cars
Deadzone: Usually 0, 10-20 for some cars
Linearity: 0

Overall, the game feels great, but I have a huge beef with the lack of wheel tuning options within GT5. I'm spoiled by PCs and even Forza 3. I can't adjust throttle, brake, and clutch sensitivity. I can't add a little play to the brake and clutch. I had my Forza 3 setup dialed in beautifully, right down to the precise clutch engagement point. This feels like a glaring oversight.

I totally agree, GT5 definitely need some more wheel tuning options! If it was possible to adjust the steering deadzone within the game I wouldn't even need to update my wheel!

i had alot of problems updating the wheel on windows 7 until i found this solution

Start the update process as per the instructions.
After running the ‘pw1’ file, Windows will no longer recognise the wheel
and will not be able to find the relevant driver.
Open the Devices and Printers window – the wheel should be the Unknown
Device at the bottom.
Open its Properties window and select Install
Driver.
Select the driver location manually – Browse, and select the folder
containing; (it's in the 'PWTS_UE_Bootloader_rev669\usb driver' folder).
Windows will panic that it cannot verify the author; confirm that you
want to continue.
After the installation has completed you will have to restart the wheel
(in bootloader mode), and restart the update from step 1. But this time
you should be able to complete the process.

I completely agree, GT5 definitely needs more wheel tuning options. If it was possible to change the steering deadzone within GT5 people wouldn't have to update.

Absolutely no Fanatec 911 Turbo (not 's') support, outrageous, I would have thought that as a racing game this would support all common wheels but apparently I was wrong

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and as some people posting here, totally new to the PS3 and GT experience. although I did made a lot of miles (km's for me) in Forza3. I'm now enjoying my PWTS + CSP for a year and really love this peace of hardware. After reading all the info here, I've updated the firmware with success, so a big thanks to you for helping me out with that!!!
One question still remains, is it possible to adjust the button layout for the PWTS? Up till now I can't find out how to use the horn for example.
Thanks in advance for answering and hope to see you guys and girls online soon!!!
