Far Cry 3 ransom note cinema trailer

Far Cry 3 burning building gameplay trailer

Cool! Uncharted in FPS mode. :D
Anyway I'm a fan of FarCry serie, the 1st game is very good, the 2nd have a big map but is boring.
From what I saw this game may be the best FPS of the year.

More like COD clone atleast in multiplayer. It's identical to COD even with killstreaks...

Ha-ha, yeah it is, not! Nice try on the burning chateau esque. ;)

Pretty much every game in the world seems to be copying COD now. Even halo 4 will be copying COD. 👎
Anyway I have purchased every single Far Cry game but I think I am just gonig to rent this one. I am very happy to see them climbing back into the colorful tropical environment. I hated the FC2 environment and could not stand that campaign. Hopefully they fix the save points. They sucked in FC2. I have always loved the map editor in these games. No other map editor even comes close. I just wish the community was bigger. Usually the multiplayer dies off withing a few weeks.

Have you seen multiplayer gameplay? There are even killstreaks, points that come up to same way, tiny maps, and fairly similar graphics. It's pretty close... Looks like a COD expansion to me.

Yes I have, thus my reply.

👍 I really disliked the re-spawning enemies and save system in Far Cry 2.

Older multiplayer footage for those who may not have seen it.....

A little BF3-like knifing animation put in the mix also....looks fun to me though. I'll most likely purchase this eventually for the campaign though.

I agree the respawning enemies and poor save points made FC2 a very un-enjoyable game. Especially when I would like to enjoy free roaming but would be punished if I didnt get to a safe house before dying. So much of FC2 I wanted to explore and look for collectables but didnt want to risk losing the progress. So the gameplay usually involved aiming for another safe house and just to straight to it.

FC3 is looking really good and I am quite optimistic. The recent gameplay trailers have really helped get me excited for this game. Would be nice to save anywhere we wanted. Or even set up a campfire as a save point anywhere in the game like the feature in RDR. I will keep an eye on reviews and gameplay videos to decide if I will rent or buy this.

Far Cry 3 Delayed

Far Cry 3 is now set to launch on November 29 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and on December 4 in North America, Ubisoft announced today. The last release date we had for Far Cry 3 was set in September; as producer Dan Hay puts it, the extra time will be spent making the game "the best," rather than what we assume was "the almost best."

"We're taking more time to create the best possible gameplay experience," Hay says. "Far Cry 3 is a huge offering and we want every element of this insane, action-packed adventure to be of the highest possible quality for the players."

There is always the multiple gamesave option to get around this, save if you think the area ahead is likely to be a merc hornest nest and explore away to your heart's content.

I must say though that I explored both maps without needing to do that - just a failsafe really - also good if you fancy exploring alternative ways of tackling a mission.

Agreed, the re-spawn rate could have been better, but that's just one of those things I suppose.

I agree that the single player was a bit tedious and repetitive, at best.

I stopped with the campaign when for a mission I had to go to other side of the map, while going across the same hamlets filled with enemies.

Despite all of this the multiplayer was fun in myopinion. The idea of being able to create different maps with the editor was great. Pity that only a bunch of maps managed to get known and furthermore being used in online matches.

Now it's time for the third chapter, maybe they learned the lesson and made a good offline story as well as keeping an effective multiplayer.

What I'd like to see though, is the sense of realism that weapons had compared to other games like call of duty.

I was just about to post that 4 player co-op video in post #47.

This 4 player co-op looks way way better than I ever imagined. Almost like a dream come true. The colorful tropical envirnment from FC1 combined with 4 player co-op! This just went from a maybe rental to now a possible purchase.

Lets just hope Ubisoft does not make the same mistake they made with Future Soldier. FS only allowed you to play the co-op modes with friends. Worst mistake the company ever made. Maybe they learned their lesson from Future Soldier and decided to bump Far Cry 3 to improve the co-op.

Liking the look of this, Enjoyed FC2 before the glitches got the better of me. Onother game to add to my list:)

Stumbled upon some gameplay footage from PAX by accident on YouTube and this is probably the first time in over 7 years I'm actually excited over a FPS-ish game. Looks amazing and love the environment.

With so many great games coming this fall and winter, it's going to be tough choice.

I'm actually intrigued - what glitches were in the game? I ask because I didn't encounter any; except for some jeep drivers jumping out and appearing ontop of their vehicle instead of beside it - or the occasional wounded merc half submerged into a rock.

Mind you, I only played it for the first time a few months ago, and I can't recall if there was an update patch to load when I did :)

I suppose glitch was letting it off lightly = http://www.gamesradar.com/warning-far-cry-2-is-still-a-broken-game/

Okay, thanks. Mind you, "Game-breaking" is a phrase that's bandied about a bit too much, I think :indiff:

The article was from April 2009 and I know it says that not everyone gets these problems, but I haven't heard that anyone (until now) experienced any of this and I do frequent a forum that is mad about FC2.

I think the patch that was released must have fixed things as I definitely haven't encountered any problems when I played through the game. Two of my NCP characters disappeared during that time, but came back at the end during the 'Heart of Darkness' - that's supposed to happen though. I won't explain why, as that's spoiler territory and quite a few folks are just now playing this in preparation for FC3.

Well, This was when i would have been playing so i posted it to back up my comment. I would guess they would have fixed it by now. I agree with you on the use of the phrase "gamebreaking" But i would have to say this glitch (when it was in effect) was indeed game breaking. If you were to encounter it theres nothing you could have done but start again.
