^ And dont forget that the Skyrim Dragonborn dlc also comes today. I will get Aftermath for BF3 for sure but I am not a premium member so I will have to wait.

O-M-G, forgot about that.... Well, what better time to get locked into some serious gaming than the winter time. It's crappy outside anyways and will be for the next 5 months. Good timing on all this content I guess.. :D

Well I'm glad I'm not looking to buy it yet. Might pick it up from Amazon US if they have a good sale over Christmas, but I do hope this isn't Ubisoft making a move to Uplay exclusivity in the same way EA did with Origin... Uplay currently sucks even more than Origin did when BF3 was launched! Also they don't seem to understand how to keep vital servers running. I'm just glad I don't really care about most of their games at this point.
 
uPlay is garbage, Origin is garbage, Battle.net is garbage and corporate greed is garbage. Steam seems to be a proven platform that I wish these other companies would have endorsed instead of trying to make their own version of it. I'm sure if Steam would have found it's place in the console world with Xbox live or Sony's network, it would have sown a secure foothold for all your game depositories and achievements. In any case, I have seen where some people were having crashing issues due to the uPlay network. Disabling their internet seemed to fix the issue until the game was patched. I guess it's a good thing we got a late release. BF3/Origin was so buggy upon release, it just about broke me.

[EDIT] Let me define what I mean by "garbage". Having to rely on a network to authorize and manage game playability when the network is not reliable. It makes it 10 times more frustrating when it's a single player game where online access shouldn't even be required. Ugh!

So guys, is Far Cry 3 as good as expected? Better? Worse?

Really thinking about getting it, but im not quite there yet.

Much, much better than expected.

The Islands are massive and stunning to explore, the wildlife is nice and dynamic (jet-skying down a river watching a tiger hunt a pair of tapirs), so much to do without even looking at the mission. That however would be a crying shame because the story (what I have completed so far) is great.

I would agree on GOTY, certainly one of the best things I've played this year, up with Journey and The Walking Dead (both of which I loved to bit - but for very different reasons).
 
So for some reason Fraps is outputting screen caps in really odd colors (skin is blue, for one) and it's getting pretty toasty in my room because of my computer and I can't stand it anymore. :lol:

I'll also have to figure out how to get my SMAA injector to work as it keeps crashing even with MSAA turned off.

I might either get this on PC, depending how hardware craving it is compared to the PS3 version. My PC runs games on par with PS3 games graphics-wise, but I might instead go for the PS3 version because my little brother is looking forward so much to this game.

He is watching Far Cry 3 videos on YouTube every time he is on my PC because he loves that game so much. He tries to watch as little storyline videos as possible to avoid most of the spoilers.

Might as well buy it as a Christmas gift for my brother, he will be very happy with it I think 👍

Don't really like console shooters, but I may as well give it a try. Even though BF3 never really caught on for me because I really dislike the feel of an FPS on a console.
 
I hate FPS' on consoles. The Uncharted Series are about all that I can handle. The pace of game is slow enough that it's hard to really call it a FPS. The Gears of War franchise is pretty good to, but again, wouldn't really call it a FPS either. Any other FPS I just absolutely hate on consoles. To over compensate for the lack of experience, FC3 is giving PS3 owners a change at exclusive content. It's not for reasons of love, but for reasons of feeling guilty that people are not playing the game on a PC. :D Just kidding of course....

That would be a great present for your bro, especially if you get to play it to. :) The co-op should be fun if you have a couple systems. Not sure if split screen is support, but guess is yes, but I don't know for sure.
 
Grabbed a 360 copy earlier today. It's been a while since I've been this this immersed in a game (Human Revolution was probably the last game I played which grabbed me attention like this). Only done a few main missions and the odd medical drop, although it doesn't help when you're trying to take out 3 groups of guys and a pair of bloody Komodos bite you from behind. :lol:

What I found surprising was how much I want to just hunt [insert wild animal here] and get skin to craft larger wallets/weapon holsters and such.
 
I'm getting retinal decay from this eye candy overload..... moderation moderation.

Picking this up tonight for the less than stellar(visually) PS3 version.
 
I was just thinking how much i want more DLC for Far Cry 3 and then it hit me.........

Zombie DLC!!!,

It may be because i just watched Cockneys Vs Zombies though, So i appoligise. :lol:

Going to start my 2nd Playthrough tomorrow, Looking to 100% it with the Relics, Loot and so on.

I was kind of worried at first, I was averaging 20 FPS before I realized only 1 of my 4 GPU's were actually doing anything. Beta Driver install later and all GPU's are firing at full usage, averaging 70FPS pretty consistently.

How hard on hardware is this game?
I haven't played any of the Far Cry games but from what I hear this one is fantastic.
Would my two 7850's do it justice?

You'll be comfortable maxing it out with HBAO.

It bakes the hell out of my 6950s though, although that's likely more to do with the ambient and them being so close together.
 
Righto thanks T, first I had to google HBAO to work out what the hell you were talking about. :lol:

I told the Mrs last week to pick it up for me at Christmas. She may now have to get me something else as I don't know if I can wait that long.

No problem, but allow me to correct myself - HDAO is what we'd want. You can run HBAO but there might be artifacts or, what I've noticed, mouse lag because HBAO is specifc to nVidia, and HDAO is specific to AMD.

Hm. That might be where the slight polygonal artifacts come from every time I die and respawn in a safe house.
