The ending sucks ass. That will be all.

Hell - the story itself isn't good at all, and that isn't going into the debate about how politicized it is going one way, which has been started by much smarter people then I. It feels way too much like a pendulum - you might be doing some really jokey side quest one minute, and then you are doing some really disturbing and raw main mission. Granted, that pendulum has always been present since Far Cry 2, but it hasn't been this jarring.

Then again, Far Cry as a series has never had good stories in my experience, aside from 1 because I haven't played it. They seem like half decent ideas (Especially 2 and 4) but are so poorly executed, and in the case of 3 and 5, are botched by hilariously bad endings.

It's a little annoying how I cant drive/walk 1 minute down the road without running into 24 bears, 15 wolverines, 18 trucks, and 37 enemy NPC's along the road.

Which is why I cannot play Far Cry 2 no matter how hard I try, because it is like that, except it's all enemy NPC's. And outposts respawn enemies too!

It's not so much the story itself I'm bothered by...

Or even that the good guys don't win — I'm fine with a hard left swerve every now and again because it's refreshing. I don't even have a problem with you being the bad guy because of Jacob's music box bs (which is poorly explained, by the way), but this? This is just...needlessly contrarian. Regardless of which option you choose when you confront Joseph at the end renders every goddamn option you made earlier in the game pointless.

The people you saved? Dead. Your companions? Dead. The bases you liberated? Nuked. Ergo, pointless. Joseph doesn't get a single ounce of comeuppance through the entire game; the same person that killed his daughter for no reason, flipped Faith eleven ways to Sunday, and then lucks out in a way that would turn the universe inside-out with an out-of-nowhere nuke from... North Korea?

The second ending is better by proxy, but everyone you're in the car with? Dead.

It bummed me out to the point where I just want to uninstall and never think about it again.

I thought FC3 was the most enjoyable overall. The characters, the boss battles etc.
5 is great and I honestly don't understand all the hate relating to the endings. After playing AC Origins and the DLC, I wonder if Ubi do the same and continue the story in the DLC in some way.

The ending sucks ass.
It can be much more appealing if we have opportunity to join the cult in the beginning

I thought FC3 was the most enjoyable overall.
While FC3 was awesome, FC4 was better or on par with FC3 in almost all cases. FC5, while being much more complex and interesting gameplay-wise, just isnt polished enough, imo.

I've no problem with the story, in this current (western) world of flipped values, should we be surprised at such an outcome?

...not with a president who is listening to the whispers of evangelicals bored of waiting for the end of days.

Not sure I'm getting the joke @inCloud

Couldn't do so much this week, putting off the final confrontation with Jacob, I suppose. So I've been sightseeing and tidying up a little.

Just picked this up the other day, having a blast so far. Originally wanted to wait for a price drop, but it looked like a ton of dumb fun to pass up. Always been a fan of the series since the very beginning, but this one looked a little too unusual for my tastes. Not usually big on the cult stuff, but I admit I am really enjoying the characters and setting more than I expected I would. Plus my character has a badass mullet.

From a Far Cry: Primal spirit totem found at the back of the church on the Devastation map through a nightmare house to various apocalypses, a Far Cry 2 and user created Last of Us homages.

Done with the story missions.

Spoiler below contains spoilers.
Did all the cult outposts, side missions and quests along the main story missions and saved the boss fights until last for each region, aswell as the father.

Now, what do I do now? There are no enemies left.

Probably reset outposts for fun?

I've done some arcade...

It's fun, for a short time. It's not something I could play for hours at end. At least not yet.

Waiting for the DLC's.

Meanwhile, i'll play other games. :P

I dont think, there are some Western and Eastern Worlds anymore.
Ahh, I see. I meant more western as opposed to all of the rest; those who aren't necessarily subscribed to, or a part of the things we get up to and find so important.

part of the things we get up to and find so important.
With all that globalization, i dont think there are some counties with other values than traditional western values(Bhutan and Tibet, maybe).

Precisely my point, we think that everyone is into what we get up to or find it so important, but that's not really true: Eskimos, Mongolian tribes, most folk in rural circumstances across much of the world, the Aboriginal tribes, Tibet as you say. Sure they're likely aware of the western values but don't necessarily want them affecting their lives.

I quite like Arcade Mode. I must have played for a about an hour and a half last night just getting thrown between random solo maps, and with the x2 xp earnings it really made it easy to earn some quick cash. Some where terrible, but for the most part it was enjoyable.

I forgot how great the opening to FC3 actually was. Really chucks you into the game.

Something weird with the player movement though, almost as if there is additional input lag using the analogue sticks.

Yes indeed @STI9 a few others elsewhere have mentioned something similar. For me it feels like I'm still using a DS3 instead of it being optimised for the smoother and 'weightier' DS4 controller.

Am I the only one who enjoyed this game? I must add I am not really a Far Cry fan. Only have played FC2 and a bit of FC3. But this game is absolutely fantastic. Everything about it; graphics, gameplay, sound and overall game design.

HOWEVER, I do agree the endings were a bit stupid. I got the nuclear ending which pretty much makes it feel as all the effort you went through as pointless.

I watched the other ending on youtube, thinking that was the right one, but it's just even worst. The third ending is just comical... There should have been a fourth ending were you get rid of John, or arrest him, and then you stay to free the state from the remaining cultists.

Other things that I found a bit weird is the way the story progresses. Forced cut scenes kind of kill the Open-World feel to the game. Doing side missions tends to feel a bit bland and pointless once each area is freed, specially after the nuclear end which pretty much breaks all immersion or incentive to keep playing.

You're certainly not alone. I also enjoy it a lot. Since FC3 these games are just more of the same really. But as long as that "same" = fun then who cares. :)
