Fastest car in GT2

To be honest the fastest accelerators go as follows (in my opinion):
1:hks 180s drag
2:hks skyline drag
3:speed12
4:escudo
5:cultus
And my fastest....
1:speed 12 (about 450+ and can steer around the test course)
2:hks 1800s drag(blimey that's quick!)
3:hks Nissan skyline drag
4: escudo ppv (my fav car through all gens!!)
5: Cultus ppv
As I say, these are my opinions!!!

Without tuning, (That is, increasing the final drive on race cars) and having cars, even race cars as 'standard', I think the 180 Drag, Speed 12 and TS020 Racers are the fastest. Never bothered with an Escudo on GT2, so I couldn't comment.

Since I've been looking around in my GT2 memory cards, I've come across these records in the "Machine Test", not sure if these are good or not, just thought I'd share...

Sharing is good.

Tried the HKS 180SX a while back and got 261.16mph. Haven't really tried a lot of cars, next on my records was the Kure R33 at 243.04mph.

1000m:
16.844 again HKS 180SX
17.903 again Kure
18.569 R Skyline GT-R R32 '89

400m:
9.847 Kure
10.259 HKS 180SX

like I said, I haven't really taken many cars to their max at the machine tests... the HKS 180SX just keeps pushing, but is slow off the line.

I'm thinking for this particular save game, I tried to avoid using my Race cars in the Machine test records as they would just be dominant. (I have quite a few in this save.) The only arguable one is the GT40, (not the Gulf) where in the garage it would show the R, but in the records, it would not be shown... I was never sure if that was a glitch or not. This save seems to be from around 2004.

Ah, gotcha. Was just trying to give a frame of reference. You know the RUF's all have R worthy downforce, even if it's fixed, right? I'm pretty sure the R390 road car does, too. And the Vector definitely does.

I thought it was funny how the Kure was almost half a second faster over 400m than the HKS 180SX, but then the 180SX was a full second faster over 1000m.

No, that's cool for the frame of reference bud... Thanks. (Edit: It was what I was hoping to get) I'm also pretty sure you're right about the RUF and the R390 Road Car too. As for the quarter mile, ya I could never get either of the two Drag cars to beat my Unisia Jecs GTR. My friends actually banned me from using that one in anything, lol. That one was my favorite race car by far in GT2! Mind you the black Kure was just awesome for looks and the performance was only slightly behind the Unisia.

I personally guess the Escudo is the fastest one in terms of overall performance in GT2 and I always used to get in that car to defeat the hell outta others... lol The TS020 and GT40 are also pretty quick unlike that is represented in GT4. :embarrassed:
But as for max speed the 180SX comes to the top if my memory serves me rightly... ;)

I never drove the Escudo, simply because of previous experiences (GT3). The Unisia Jecs GTR was my favorite car overall also. I like how it could actually turned, unlike others *cough* HKS Drag Cars *cough*

Just curious, but what makes the Unisia any faster than the Arta, Calsonic, and Pennzoil? Aren't they all just clones of each other? Sure look like it on paper, same dimensions, same weight, same hp...

Hmmm, my Unisia is listed at 702hp, 687.2 Lbs-Ft of torque and 2601 lbs for weight. I don't own the Arta, Calsonic or the Penzoil, but the Penzoil is listed at 680hp and 676.2 for torque in the dealership. The weight is the same. Do these numbers match yours?

When you take the Pennzoil home and check it in your garage the hp jumps to 702, torque up as well to same as Unisia.

Oh ok, well at least that's the same. Maybe they would be clones then. Although, for some reason, I could always get better times with my Kure vs. the Zexel for the R33 race cars... Might just be the confidence factor working.

The fastest speed I've gone is 267 mph.

I've also gone 255 in an R390. I may not be the best, but that doesn't seem too bad. Nothing like really tall gearing on really fast cars. I may try the Escudo next.

Hmmm... these are my numbers as follows:........................ First- Toyota GT-ONE Road Ver. (vandenal) 262.52mph....... Second- Nissan R390GT1 RoadCar'97 (vandenal) 254.36mph....... Third- [R]TVR Speed 12 (vandenal) 235.45mph....... Fourth- [R]Escudo (dad's buddy) 230.96mph....... Fifth- [R]Toyota GT-ONE '98 (vandenal) 228.39mph....... Sixth- RUF CTR 2 Sport (vandenal) 227.42mph....... Seventh- [R]Vector M12 LM (vandenal) 226.18mph....... Eighth- Skyline GT-R R34 (vandenal) 225.35mph....... Are those any good?

Theoretically, the HKS 180SX has less "face" than the GT-ONE Road Car (2.1 m^2 vs 2.25 m^2), so being able to beat my top speed by over a mile an hour with a "bigger" car with less hp (989 vs 1026) I'd say is pretty good!

Thanks jeffgoddin! I spent 5 hours yesterday making the setup for that car. I can pm it to you, maybe you could beat it! Let me know what you think.

That's fast! But how about trying again at the test track and not at the Turbo Challenge where you can slipstream another HKS 180SX?:sly:

Yeah I managed to snap the screenshot just before I rear ended the other guy, going down to 240 or 250 something. I'll get me another HKS 180SX to fool around with later. I'll try tuning the transmission more in depth, rather than just setting the auto really high. Tall gearing is of course the answer, but maybe I could try varying ratios, perhaps a taller 5th gear and a short 6th, something to go rocket berserk. And maybe, maybe the Motorsports Land glitch, but probably not. But I may still draft the other guy, as when i hit 267 like that, i strategically slowed down so I was behind it, and tried to draft without biting its shiny metal ass:crazy:.

Pretty great speeds everyone. I have gotten my 1999 Mazda RX-7 GT-C with 682 HP and only 2511 LBS to 248 MPH however, I used to be able to set it up to go 256 but I don't know what setting I used. I got my GT-One Road Version to top out at 278 without slipstreaming as well.

the fastst car in my save is the Toyota GT-One road version,i've tuned it and it went on 450km/h+ and that was not the speed end.so the fastest car is TOYOTA GT-ONE ROAD VERSION:) :)
I have the same car and tuned it to max as well but it only goes upto 395 km/h whereas my escudo reaches 400 km/h+ (no tune) why?

Try these:
  • Set the ride height to 55mm / 100mm for front and rear respectively.
  • Do the gear trick with a slower Auto Setup: set the final gear to 5.500, set Auto Setup to 6, set the final gear to 2.500, move 1st gear to the far left and 5th and 6th to the far right, then space 2nd, 3rd and 4th in between so they're evenly spaced.

With this setup I was able to get 419.93km/h top speed from a max'd out GT-One road car with racing super softs.

Reached 419+ km/h as well. However, with escudo, its 425+ km/h+

291 mph in the Escudo. 468.3 km/h for the people who use that system. Used the wheelie trick on the Test Course-nothing else.

LATER: 610 mph (981.6 km/h) in the Escudo....breaking out of Laguna Seca with the wheelie trick.
Oh god, thats broken as hell. Teach me how to do wheelie
