Since there isn't a car in general section(that would be nice) I decided to post it in here. I was toying with my Audi this weekend and hit 150 on something called a toll road. What about you guys?

My 98 Z28 I got up to 155-160ish mph and my 1997 YZF 600 (motor from a 2002) I got up to around 170 mph (Who knows how fast the guys i was riding with got up to. I was just trying to keep up.).

Fastest I've gone so far was 160mph in a Lexus GS 300H. Pretty funny how that thing stayed silent and comfortable even at that speed.

You tell me as it was completely off the clock !

This was my old Civic Hatch which I personally installed my Integra TypeR engine into.

the most ive got was 130mph. Sad thing is my Car had a governor on it so it just stopped rising. Still had ~3000 more rpms to go.

About 5 years ago I got my 69 Camaro to around 145-150mph after shifting from 5th into 6th gear with plenty more to go. I wish I had somewhere I could just hold it down and see how fast it would go in 6th gear.

I had my 96 Firebird Formula up to about 140-145 in 5th shifting to 6th with not much more to go. Pretty much dies once you hit 6th gear. haha

The 98 Z28 I had was the same. 6th is basically just an overdrive. It wasn't really meant for anything other than getting better highway mpg.

Even though it is an overdrive gear, it depends on the car and the gearing. I have the T56 in my 69 Camaro and it still pulls hard in 6th.

I maxed out my '88 VW Cabriolet at 103mph on the Interstate at 1am.

I raced my friend(back then) on the same Interstate. His '86 Audi 4000 quattro maxed at 110mph. I kept pulling in my '90 Audi Coupé quattro to 125mph. Could have gone higher but was starting to get scared. Too much traffic for that speed.

About 115mph in my '88 Skyline, and the national speed limit (excluding Northern Territory) of 110kph in my Accord.

Fastest I've been driven was about 155mph in SIC EM (2004 Subaru Impreza WRX, ECUTek and MRT exhaust) and about 120mph on the back of my mum's Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade BLE.

125mph in my 85 e30. Scary, the car was 15 years old at the time going downhill.
105 in a rented dodge minivan during the middle of a 12 hour car trip. I wasn't paying attention. :D

A feeble 112mph on a looooong back road here in Oregon in my old '04 Civic....what I remember most is forgetting to shift into 5th until about 60 mph, whoops

135ish MPH in my '99 Civic Si. The stock trans in that car has short gears so I wasn't too far from redline in 5th. Highway driving at 70 MPH I am at 4k RPM in 5th.
And my '95 del Sol only made it to 113 MPH before it reached top speed. I think I was midway through 4th gear and it was the base model with the stock D15B7 engine putting out a whopping 102HP to the flywheel new. It probably had 190k on the odometer at the time.

Mountain bike: 64 km/h verified, possible 80km/h another time (much steeper hill)

Motorbike (my partners old 125 Honda BROS): 115 km/h?

My R32 GTS Skyline: 160 km/h (was passing a truck - have no inclination to see what the actual top speed is, thus haven't tried)

My R32 GTS-4 Skyline: 180 km/h (hit the speed limiter relatively quickly, and with three people in the car - only did it once just to see if it did have a limiter).

Fastest i've been though was a ride in a mates 600hp R33 GT-R. He got it up to 280 km/h (also passed a car like it was standing still/reversing ) before the straight started slowly turning into corners/humps. I drove it back home afterwards and didn't really want to speed in it, but got it up to maybe 130 km/h or more while being squashed back in my seat passing a slow car. Never looked at the speedo as car was squashing me back in the seat so much that i just had my eyes glued to the road. ;) I know it was in third gear anyway.

God that was fun. :D Don't think the car i passed was too pleased, as after i pulled back in they turned on their high beams (in broad daylight).

Unfortunately he rolled the car in a hill climb a few weeks later and wrote it off. :(

Yep a Civic Si or a Civic with a B16a2 engine will hit just over 145 at the redline the speedo clocks aren't accurate and will show way off the clock at these speeds.

Going on that theory I hit the redline with my Civic with Integra TypeR engine (see picture above) and i'm led to believe with the gearing (and I had stock wheels / tyre size) it should hit 153 on the limiter in 5th gear !

I had fun in a couple of 70's era cars. 185 in a Jensen Interceptor and about 170 in a Lamborghini Uracco. Scariest ride was doing 140 in an AMC Gremlin.

Fastest I ever managed was 188 km/h in a 2005 Toyota Tacoma double cab. If the governor hadn't kicked in I'm sure it would have surpassed 200 km/h. Then I did a few months later with the help of a friend's '86 Mustang GT.

Hehe, fixed that for you! :p But do you remember the year and engine? Sounds like interesting at the very least - you're so lucky!

It was a 440 Magnum with dual quads, tunnel ram and a .509 lift. Had mix 'n match parts from the wreckers for the body which was built around the motor that we pulled from a 1970 Charger. It wasn't long before the cops ordered it to be inspected and at 640HP it was not allowed back on the street.

Wow, sounds like a real Frankenstein-esque vehicle. I can see how going that fast in a 640HP Gremlin would be a bit hair-raising though! Was it a project car, or did it get into an accident and you had to rebuild it? Either way, what ultimately became of it?
