Yeah, Race Hards for the F2007. 6:15 P.M. GMT (Greenwhich mean time) on SUNDAY will be the next race.

So are you set on this Hard tires idea for F2007s? I did some runs last night at Monaco and it didn't go so well. When I got a clean lap in it was easily 2-3s off my normal pace. I figured switching to ABS 1 would help, but it didn't really do much. The hards seemed to take almost 5 laps to warm up and by then they had worn a bit (spins and peel outs contributed). Could have been a bad racing night. I didn't do softs or meds right after since it was late, but I imagine it would have gone smoother. Any chance we can compromise on mediums or something else?

Can those who haven't declared a car yet, please do so. The spreadsheet will likely be a pain in the wrist to change for the F2007 and F10 leaderboards.

Most people seem to have signed up to the series but not been bothered to use an F1 car and would rather spectate.

Part of the issue is that the cars are super expensive, and with no money glitch those who dont have one arent likely to ever get one.

Another problem is the speed of the cars. Most older folks who are signed up on GT planet dont have the learning ability, and the reflexes left to learn how to drive them. You have to be in your teens or 20s to really get a feel for these quicker cars if you've never done them before.

I've logged numerous laps in the F2007 at Monaco on HARDS and the car drives fine. I beat my fastest F10 softs time by 7/10ths a second. So I am skeptical of Tool's findings, very much so. I realize that he wants to win, haha. I'm likely to do it in a public room again, since I can kick people. Also, the tires warm up faster there.

I think with the tire rule we should just keep an "overall standings" rather than a separate leader board for the F10.

I'd second that provided Monaco is a balanced race. Tire grip is important there so the F10 should have an advantage. But I feel that if there is a close end of season battle between a F10 and F2007 then the F10 drivers may be at a slight loss due to Monza. Then again, I know the end of seaoson track better than anyone else in the world.

I disagree, I've run laps on HARDS in the F2007 and it drives faster or atleast as fast as The F10. Its also easier to push hard. :sly: My fastest in the F10 with no driving aids online was in the 1:14.8 range, with the F2007 on HARDS that dropped to 1:14.2. The HARDS "go away" a little bit slower as well. So after 23 laps you will not be dropping as much pace as the F10 will.

I know its possible to go much quicker (yes D-UNEXPECTED001) does 1:12's with no aids, and 1:10s with aids. But generally my driving is at a static point. I've not seen much improvement lately.

Yesterday was my first time driving hards at Monaco; so it could have been just me. Overall though, it was bad news. Especially for a track I run so much. Maybe it's the agony you F10er's have been beeeatching about all along.

i think the F10 tuned right is just as nearly good as the F07 last night i guy in the F10 beat me by over a second on hards in the F10 i was running on hards in my F07 and running 1.15 flat, we should be able 2 use mediums atleast

I'm looking forward to Monaco, my favourite track! Hopefully I can drive a bit faster than at Monza :)

I'll take another look at it, but the F2007 on HARDS if still faster from what I saw before. I've done 1:14.2 during a race with tire wear in it. I will TT both cars and see.

Damn, here were my offline TT times just now:

F2007 HARDS; 1:12.844

F10 SOFTS; 1:11.908

:yuck: I dont know what I'm gonna do to even them out. I might have to abolish the tire rule. I couldnt get a perfect lap off in the F2007. Fast laps for me are a one shot, squirt it all out and be done type deal. I'm not a long distance type driver.

errrr
The only thing I can say is that its a lovely colour. Oh and do you know where to get one of those panda's? They look quite fun to drive put PM so we keep the thread clean

um, what does Panda'd mean? lol

Anyway, The mediums will work. I'm sick of changing the rules and so thats it.

how about take off the tyre rule and put no ABS , tyres rarely lock with no ABS as long as you know when to brake , ie: you can brake fully on high speed and medium fast braking points

the only reason your going to lock your wheels is if you have 10/10 brakes on medium or slow fast braking points , other than that it won't lock.

You also have to know the road surface elevation because it can lock on different kinds of surfaces.

And obviously to promote the "saving tyre" through out the race which is part of race strategies.

If you have a balanced brake distribution it won't lock up :P but if you make it happen then it will.

I was going to say do ABS off instead, but I figured it had been beaten to death. I'll try out all three tires (hopefully tonight) at Monaco.

i just did a test in my lounge so online phycics it seems the F10 may have the advantage on monaco , Here try this guy's get in your lounge and try some laps in the
F10 on softs and the F07 on mediums and softs thts how your gonna solve this .!!!

Thats a good idea. I its impossible to implement though, since people can use their wheel to turn settings up during the race, and the replay doesnt show ABS. Damn, I think the medium/soft thing is okay for now. On the faster tracks the F2007 will have the advantage. Why PD did not let ABS be set to "off" is beyond me.

A PP limit like Golfer said originally may work, but then you'd still have the comparison revelations and shiftiness of how much to limit it by.

we can have someone watch during the race

All little ahead of myself here, but i already know I'll be out of town on 7/12. Do you think we can move that one?

Have the physics changed on the F1 cars? I was racing in a lounge with D-Unexpected and my car seemed to be on ice. It definately wasn't the same as it was at the race on Monza. I may have just been having a bad day though!

They started using Bernie Ecclestone's idea of sprinklers to simulate wet conditions but they didn't tell anyone about it.

that would be a damn shame, lol. :ouch: Eventually, I may move over to i racing once I'm able to see how much it would realistically cost. With the hardware and fees. My interest in it has increased lately.

Maybe, we'll see on onna those bakin' New Orlean's dog days. Using some thick drawl, maybe ya;ll can decide on a day.

Hi guys, I've just realised that I'm hosting a pre-season race for my eco-friendly race series and the race starts at the same time these F1 races will. The pre-season is on the 5th May i think. Its a sunday. Sorry for the mistake but I will have to miss that race and all the others once my season starts. There will be a two week gap after the pre-season race before the season starts so I will miss rounds : 5, 8, 9, 10. I may be able to have the races start an hour and a half later on those days.

Nice double booking.

Thats okay Golfer. I remember test driving a Toyota Echo a few years ago. I engine smelled pretty hot, and I think I got up to about 90 mph. O-60 in 11 seconds or so.

ok guy's here's my final test results 4 Monaco ,,,,, in my lounge (online physics) both F10 & F07 soft tires '1 ABS , it seems the F10's tendency 2 spin easier wont be to much of a problem here But the F07's tendency to understeer will , in 07 with an extensive tune just for the track i managed near a 1:12.30 soft suspension +short gear ratio so i hit 7th at lest 3 times but with F10 NOT tuned specifically 4 the track it got near1:12.50 with a more extensive setup it could be quicker than the F07 @ Monaco . hope this sheds some light on stuff i did dam near 60 laps of practice ;]

How the hell do video games with Monaco in get everything so right evrywhere and then at Monaco they are always way faster than reality. Webber holds the Monaco lap record and it was described as a perfect lap. It was a low 1.14. In F1 2010 the online lap record is a 1.10
Oh and why have we started calling the F2007 the F07? Its looks a bit bizzare when its typed.

ye F07 does look a bit strange but im on my ps3 typing with the D pad so it helps 2 abbreviate a bit + truthfully the racing softs are grippier than real life.
