Yeah the PC sims are a fair bit better, with i racing being the best but expensive.

I think the F1 teams use rfactor for their simulators but I could be wrong. I used to do the old Silicon motor speedway at the mall of america, I think that was the original rfactor as well. It might have been its own thing, I dunno.

A little off topic but, do any of you have rfactor? As I am currently downloading the fsr 2011 f1 mod. I tried the demo and the wheel felt better than in gt5, in terms of feel for the road.

I have all the PC Sims bar one or two and I have to say R factor is the best game I have ever played for F1 mods.
I love the F11970's mod I think its called the cars sound unbelievable in that mod, The mod could be a load of crap and I would still play it just for the engine noises.
But the feel of the wheel does not touch the feel that you get in GTR 2/EVO/RACEO7.
I wish there was a way to combine the F1 mods of R factor with the FFB you get in the GTR series.
Lets hope they convert more of the F1 mods on R factor over to GTR evo and such like.

I've got a copy of rFactor, I was sent in one package with my G25, but it never wanted to work. The disk has some problem I think. I play with Race07 now on PC and it has really good open wheel cars too. (Formula3 I think)

It wont work mate its the original demo of the game from back when R factor was a free down loadable game a long time ago, You only get to use like 1 or 2 cars and 1 or 2 tracks.
I like GTR EVO/RACE07 the best I just wish there was more mods for F1 cars on it.
I cant wait to get my PC fixed and upgraded so I can get back to the PC Sims along side GT5.

What is the reasoning for damage to be on light? The damage model in gt5 is quite bad as it is, as it lets you get away with a lot without having damage.

Some people dont like the heavy damage, although I'd vote for it. LOL, yeah all the races are suspended.

Any one got race07 and GTR evo ?
I just got my PC up and running and though maybe we could have some F1 races with the mac corp F1 mod on GTR evo until PSN comes back online.
Any one game ?.

couchy might, I dont. On the first post I posted a funny vid of golfer199 trying to drive a real F1 car. hahaha ;)

I only have rfactor, if someone wants to run some races on that I all up for it. Hace to decide the mod to use. I currently use FSR 2011 mod, but have a tryout to get into another legaue which has their own mod.

The only thing I have found about rfactor is the default tire sounds are way too low. You can manually adjust them, but not in the in game UI.

Some people don't brake properly into the first turn on some tracks, leading to some massive pile ups. Light damage means you still have a chance of catching those ahead of you. Heavy damage would cost a lot of time plus a pitstop.

Thats were the race stewards comes in(or replay), penalizing the driver who caused such an incident, also having a formulation lap would warm up the tires, but yeah false starts would be hard too control in gt5.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work either because even though the person who caused the crash would be penalised the person(s) who they hit are also penalised. I know it works this way in real life but IRL F1 drivers are all highly skilled and don't have to cope with lag, or using a DS3 to drive.

We havent had any pileups yet, but a couple people have gotten hit. Like ArtMann at Cote D'Azure.

If Artmann were to choose I think he's rather have heavy damage, but of course its tough to get everybody through the race without having some issues.

In all the other series its "light" damage. I suppose I could change it to heavy if enough people want it.

Right now we aint racin' anywhere not even in fantasy land. ;)

Once psn is back up we could do a short test run with heavy damage to see how everyone likes it. But, if heavy damage cause half the people to not show then I don't think it should be added.

Putting it to a vote is fine. I don't like the idea of virtually giving up a race due to a turn one engine crushing crash. Some solace can come from the fact that the times these crashes have happened it was typically done by an outsider. Getting outsiders can and will happen in an Open Room, and even in a Private Room as we've seen.

Ohh, don't you remember playing video games online. It feels nostalgic already. I'd take all of those problems right now for some online racing.

The lack of real peripheral vision makes me hesitate on heavy damage. I don't know how many times I've had someone come out of what I thought was nowhere, and I almost turn into them. Even when I was checking mirrors. I wish you could see those little side mirrors while in the in-cockpit view (without 3 monitors of course). Or give me (although very unrealistic) a rear view mirror up top no matter what view or car I use. I guess it's not too unrealistic, as the driver you'd have a rear view. In most cars at least. Just because GT5 doesn't have a cabin for that car doesn't mean you shouldn't get a mirror. I think the mirror thing has been semi constant throughout the GT Series. At least from I can recall.

D-UNEXPECTED001 uses bumper cam, with the big ass review mirror on top. The visibility is tough to get used to but in the end I dont think it slows you down because he's so fast... Although I dont use use it myself, I usually use hood view or roof view on the standard cars.

I hate when I use the look behind view and forget to reverse the direction in my head when compensating. Happens every time.

Well it looks like the Nurburgring race will have to be postponed again until all the service is back up. I for one am hoping the "30 day premium package" includes movies. ;)

He uses roof view not no view and I use f2007 also , I tried using no instruments but braking without it was hopeless you really had to have experience to brake without it , I only tried the F10 once but I cant even go near the limit because its so turbulent even if you are not near the limit the car is already sliding , I have tried all kinds of setup non of them worked out well on the F10 and reducing the aerodynamic down force of the F10 is fine but I think it doesn't make a down force difference but it only makes the car react aerodynamically differently , on my F2007 I could play with the down force and still its a very good car for any driver , I also have a setup on the F2007 that makes it so grippy and even much more easy even beyond the limit but the tire wearing is a lot so I don't think it works well for the races. I tried abs off because I saw reventon10's replay and he was also shifting on the limit (exhaust flaming) and no shifting mistakes at all on the whole cote d'azur replay , it was unbelievable he was shifting on the limit and he did not do any over revving of the engine but he was also very professional on overtaking when I tried abs off it was not impossible but because Im new but its very difficult on low speed corners and medium speed corners especially because im used to going with 10 10 with 1 abs.
I saw at around lap 3 when he tried overtaking mustardaddict on the 2nd corner but he didn't give up so he made sure on the 4th corner he could do but he was someone I have never seen before on overtaking he is so professional on his driving.

I had a chat with reventon10 the latest race winner well it was his first race :D

I asked him on his steering wheel and he said he has a driving GT wheel and settings were at 10 feedback and steering simulation to real , I also asked him if he was using the switch to adjust the brakes and he does use it only if he knew the circuit very well like in Suzuka which he said was still very difficult even if he knew it well enough , he said he adjusts both front and rear 3x in 1 lap in suzuka and I was like thats impossible then I asked does it make a difference? he said you could go up to .500 seconds faster but then he said if you had abs on then it wouldn't really matter that much because switching 3x per lap with no abs only equals to having high brake bias with abs. He said that he only uses dfgt's switch for suzuka but in any other tracks he doesn't.

He said that you don't have to worry too much if you are having a hard time as a beginner because he was also very unprofessional at overtaking the most important thing is to become mature with driving which will make you mature enough on learning.

I asked him if he was faster than DUNEXPECTED001 and he says thats what everyones thinking about but then he says its important to understand the difference between F10 and F2007, he says they are only as quick because they take the lines perfectly like F1 drivers but still he says there is a big difference between driving the F10 and the F2007 and that the 2 cars are completely opposite in terms of difficulty and he said that he doesn't have enough knowledge on car settings , he has raced with DUNEXPECTED001 for few races he says they are just as quick even though the F2007 gets to be even faster on some corners in high speed tracks like Suzuka but still he says its very difficult for him in all ways because he uses no abs , no instruments , cockpit view , dfgt 10/real ,MT ,its not just about how faster the f2007 is as a whole but its also about its easiness even beyond the limit and combining the opposite settings like Automatic, abs , roof view , instruments. Then he says the pace difference of F10 and F2007 are just half a second the F10 being half a second slower but then he would be just as quick on circuits but then he would be faster in cote dazur he tried explaining me that in Cote Dazur that there was a sense of fairness because there were walls and there was no such thing as F2007 going beyond the limit because on Monaco track if you try going beyond the limit you will hit the wall and that its not like in Suzuka where there is space for going beyond the limit at the easiest pace but still in terms of difficulty both cars are completely opposite. He says he has said the same thing over and over but people just don't understand , the only tracks you can really see who is better on monaco or on a wet condition where the unrealistic : "beyond the limit at the easiest pace" doesn't exist and cannot exist , but still he says the F2007 is still much easier even on monaco or the wet but then that would be the only way to really show who is better even if the other car had the pace advantage and the easiness advantage.

Last thing he said was even if DUNEXPECTED had F2007 ,abs,AT,instrument, roof view which he has - if he turned it to Manual (sequential) that alone is already enough for DUNEXPECTED to be completely off the pace if not lapped around in a race but realistically he would have just shattered the engine of an F1 car because a few hundred rev mistake is already enough to blow an F1 engine.

It made sense to me but it was too real as in the real world of motorsport racing

Well there's not much I can say because that's the truth of the level of difficulty for the 2009 and
onwards regulations

An example would be the rally driver from UAE that won about a dozen rally world championships and then when he was testing the 2008 formula 1 Renault car he crashed on a straight line.

It's very bizar isn't it but the 2009 and onwards regulations are completely leveled out differently from the 2008 cars.

That's how a decade experienced simulator can show the true picture and physics of a real racing car
I mean there can always be other simulators that can get to the point of decade experience soon enough that simulates bits but GT always went for the details but the advancement of gran turismo is
just way beyond anything else but I dont mean its advanced technicality but im saying its advanced due to the perfectionist who created GT but part of that is Sebastian Vettel who played all Gran Turismo's who helped a lot through development.

But remember you will always have to rely on your natural skills to be a good driver not just on getting on pace but also how you are on overtaking and everything else comes together

I just bought the F10. I don't know what you guys are talking about, but I don't find it to be that much different from the 2007. I put my 2007 tune on it and it was very forgiving, like the 2007. I am faster with it on the first sector of Nurb GP, then in the 2007, with mediums. I am not trying to start a flame war with this, just noting my observations.

Uhhh ohh. Are you looking to release the hounds of hell? Claiming that the F10 is anything short impossible to handle is blasphemy here. OK only some feel this way. They know who they are. I of course, can only go off of second hand accounts; so what the hell do I know. I have no intention of buying one, even if level 40 is a long way to go. I just can't get myself to buy a car that can be won or rewarded. Especially at 10Mill.

id like to have tht tune but the F10 aint all tht bad but let me say that online the F10 spins out much easier than it does offllne so w8 till u try it in lobby , myself im only at most 1 sec slower in the F10 than the 07 solely cuz u gotta tip toe it around sorts so u dont spin it around but it is much nicer offline

blasphemy, TAKE THAT BACK or CAPITAL PUNISHMENT will follow. :sly:

Why can't you adjust the packers in gt5? It seems to be bottoming out in some spots, but then again if gt5 had a decent data logger you would be able to easily tell.

you should be able to find out the real picture in online physics but for now you should wait for PSN

I don't know if I'm gonna make it for the next races but my PS3 is broken right now since PSN broke down by the red blinking light ,its easy to fix no problem but I dont have time because relatives just came.

I might just wait for the next season but I will see if I can catch up.

but it is true indeed d-unexpected001 does have an F10 and he said its impossible for him although he tried it in suzuka well he already crashed on the first corner but im sure you also notice the difference between the drivers you race with online that there is rarely an F10 driver that does what I normally do.

Surely you can drive it but you will see if you can reach its limit but driving without instruments,ABS,cockpit is in a different level.

But you will realize if you really are on the limit when we meet together in the grid , but difference again is ^^

The F10 is a bitch at Suzuka in the final sector online. I could not control it in the final sector (the 13R). You have to lift for that turn online, its almost impossible to run it flat, although sometimes I could. The First sector grip is $hitty as well. The F2007 goes a fair bit quicker, perhaps 5-10 mph faster through there online. Offline its pretty close.

I was 3 seconds off the offline pace at Suzuka. I dont know how much the diff actually is, it might only be 1.5 seconds, but I was having one hell of a time and spun three times during out first race at Suzuka.

At Monza & Cote D' Azur there's like no diff....But at Suzuka and Nurburgring there's a huge diff.... I dont know why they did that to the online portion of the game. It could have been that they mis-calculated something and wanted to change it for the offline. Or it could be some other factor like connection speed & race being hosted thousands of miles away and traveling through outer space.

I dont think there's any miscalculation online

Because in japan grand prix 2010 , Lewis Hamilton crashed at practice

So you'd expect some other people to crash as well

But actually a dozen of them failed to finish ^_^

And that's on the dry

On quali and practice 3 or 4 already crashed

When the race started even before turn 1 ended already 4 have retired

Not everyone could go on the limit in Suzuka due to the 2010 regulations

Sebastian vettel who won in 2009 and 2010 knows the limit in Suzuka

He is the only 1 who has done 128 and insists of 127 but it's too risky

But obviously the g force in suzuka is always 4g even 5

I'll go back tho the Schumacher times

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uk2p2nRK-p4

If you don't see steering corrections being made that means your no where on the limit

Which you won't see in the f2007 because most of it's simulation came from the old Toyota f1 from the old GTs which was never close to reality.
