Cheers. All the pics are working for me and are showing on the first post.

The dash board is actually a saburu impreza dashboard which I converted into a copy ferrari dash.

I've done a tutorial on www.xsimulator.de but the website has been down for a few days. Maintenance I think.

Fantastic job, I checked out your post on the x-sim forums about how you constructed the dashboard. Great work, alot of time and money went into this!

Hopefully one day we will get motion simulators on the ps3 or 360, its such a shame they aren't already there.

One day it will come on consoles. Just need more power so you can install operating systems and then have software for it.

that is really nice, but i see one problem

In a real car your seat doesn't move independently of the wheel like that, pulling your arms from the wheel.

can the wheel mount be attached to the movement rig too?

I think what you should try and so is find a used Thrustmaster F430 wheel, remove the G27 and take a pic of it! :sly:

Just install the G27 back, the F430 wheel isn't worth it.

In a real car the pedals, seat & wheel don't move. Just the body. In this 2dof case, forget that the seat exists. When the body moves it's having the same effect i.e body rolling over to the right or left and you feel arm slipping off the wheel and feet of the pedals. You should try one and if your a driver you'll feel the similar feeling. The only thing that's lacking is REAL G-force feeling that you can't recreate but it's a great tool for getting used to the bumps, viberations & been thrown side to side and back n fourth.

x-simulator.de This is a DIY site where more n more people are doing this kind of thing.

F430 Thrustmaster :) ...

I can't view the pics so followed the link which just brought up a page of ads, could you point me in the right direction from the site menu? The build sound awesome.

Thanks, I'll try them now.

Wow, excellent bit of construction there. Looks like that really took a lot of time and effort! I'd love to have something like that but never live in one place long enough to warrant even conceiving an idea for a pod.

I really like the finish on it, pro job on that rig, my hat comes off to you sir.

Can I ask how much it would cost to add motion like yours to a cockpit?
More of a console gamer so wouldnt need but just curious what type of outlay is required.

It certainly helps immersion but Have you found it really has also added a lot to the fun or can it become a bit tiring at times?

Tiring? Never. It is the best buzz.

Mine remember is a NIXIM simulator modified to motion so it cost me around £2500 excluding tv, g25, buttkicker, computer etc

So that is just for the Rig.

You can build your own DIY version which could cost you up to £1000 excluding computer and tv and G25 wheel.

Let me tell you that I can never drive sim racing again without motion.

Okay so about a grand to incorporate it.

Maybe, but that for that grand you'd need to build your own circuitry/pcb's etc which (to me, at least) is a major problem! A better solution (again, for me) is this kit. It's expensive and as far as I can tell, only available from the States (import duty, VAT etc) but it's a "plug and play" package. :)

And, I'm going to implement this kit in the future... 👍

Nice, that kit is just the ticket really, makes it all a lot less confusing or specialised for the hardcore. It is good for "Simers"

I certainly could of went this direction and gave it some thought about 2 years ago. However I wanted to enchance the "Entertainment" more so than "Simulation" going with the audio/tactile route. Simply because the audio/tactile can benefit all types of games and platforms while also enchancing music too.

Issues I still personally would have with motion are:

1)Wanting full motion of seat/wheel/displays.
2)Not have to listen to that chirping bird sound.
3)No console support and no sign whatsoever it will ever properly be supported.

I would assume that if "Motion Sims" was ever to get supported on consoles it would be with a closed/endorssed brand like D-Box. If that happened then Id be tempted more. Currently Id still be more interested in having 3D Projection though.

Everyone has their own different wants/ideas/preferences and thats whats great about projects like this is seeing other people work on their dream setups.

3-D projection is what I wanted but the cost for a couple of projectors killed it for me. Also I want a triple screen so that means I need 6 projectors?

I've played Need for speed shift in 3-D on a projection and also on one of those samsung 3d tv's. Amazing feeling but that does reduce performance in lap times :P.

Good to hear you liked 3D.
Now wanting triple screen 3D is a bit hardcore. I like your way of thinking though.

You dont need dual projectors.
Mentioned it on my own thread but the upcoming Optoma GT750 due in August is going to be ideal. About $799) so £650 - £700 I reckon for a 720p full HDMI 1.4 spec and also Nvidia compatible.

It might be good to play some sims on it in 2D @ 120Hz for laptimes and enjoy the 3D when it suits.
The thing is the 720p native res wont please everyone but at this price awesome.

This field of view is perfect for me. I was going to take off the screen mount and have this kind of projector sitting infront of the rig.

Yeah something like that is really engrossing for a single screen. I used to play a lot on a 80" projector at quite a close distance before getting triple screens.

If your in what is a small room take note if you ever consider to get a projector that their are big differences in what screen size different models will give you regards their positioning/distance.

As an example the Acer 5360BD to get a 60" screen needs minimium of 79" distance. To achieve a 60" screen on the Optoma GT750 needs less than 1/2 that with only 38" distance. If the Optoma GT750 was at the same 79" distance as the Acer it would give a huge 126" screen.

Im really hoping the GT750 launches in the UK at a decent pricepoint.
