First time I did it I came 4th overall after deciding to skip Suzuka because I hate that track
:tup:Thank God someone else hates Suzuka. I was beginning to think I was the only one.

Way to many people take this "game" to seriously on here.

I know, right... people on a GT site taking a GT game too seriously? Unpossible -- someone alert the presses!

A wiser man than myself once said:

"Either do GT5 'Yes', or GT5 'No'. Never GT5 'Maybe', or *squish* just like grape."

Best series in the game by far, just because its harder, stop complaining

Best series ever. The FGT is the best car in the game so far (don't have X1 yet). You're just not driving it right but then again with a DS3 I can't see how anyone can...

Even though DS3 users probably account for ~95% of the GT5 userbase....

i think the reason why people don't like the nascar and formula events are due to the fact the cars are more evenly matched and they can't rely on the car out powering the field

hope this is the case because more of those types of races are needed in gt for the guys and girls that really want to race and have an event that is hard for the right reasons

Now that's BS

Do you really believe more than 5% of the millions of people who have bought GT5 own a wheel?

GTPlanet < World.

I think the reason why people don't like the nascar and formula events is due to the fact that the cars reveal the problems with the GT5 physics model.

Go and do Fuji FGT with a DS3, follow a car through the last 4/5 corners, and you'll come to the conclusion that the AI cars have more steering lock than you do.....

There's just no way to drive a FGT where you either get 100% steering or 0%.

If you think the FGT championship races suck, just wait until you get to the Vettel challenges! Better start saving for a wheel now cuz you're gonna need it to win those.
And after trying, I can now say that the FGT car is very slow in comparison. As are the Ferrari formula cars, and Bugatti, and everything else in the game.

Apparently I touched a subject with some folks here, some who agree, and some who don't.

I personally have never had a wheel for any GT series. I got one for free from Toys R Us back when I ordered GT4, and the box is still sealed. Maybe life would be easier with it, but I'm just so used to the controller.

Last night before I went to bed, I looked in the mirror and my eyes were bloodshot, simply from trying to win that race earlier in the day (I only completed 4 events, couldn't take it anymore for those of you keeping score, and apparently it's quite a few of you). It's just too tedious, too much repetition, break concentration for 1 second and you go from first to eighth (Cote de Azur or whatever track). I've always been a "loose is fast" racer, which may be why I didn't have near as much trouble winning the NASCAR race as I had racing the FGT. There is no "loose" with the FGT.

What gets me is that when I do the seasonal events, I buy and build the car so it's just fast enough. I make my max power match up with whoever has the highest power, and I try to get my car weight down to whoever has the lowest weight. No suspension, no aeros, no all out builds. I pass all of them by lap 3, usually end up winning by huge margins. And we all know first starts off with like a 30 second lead. But you take a car like the FGT where you can adjust everything and weight and power are equal and I get slaughtered. I guess I'll always be a door-slammer kinda driver.

I know all about the Vettel events. I'm about to break 38 in B-spec and am at 28 in A-spec. I couldn't even get in the ballpark on those challenges. I had traded for a Vettel long ago, but I don't drive it. I leave that up to my B-spec guys.

I don't really care if some of you want to call me a part time gamer, or attack me because I don't feel the same way you do about the game, whatever makes you feel better. I was just looking for some insight and other's opinions about this race, and if it spilled into other aspects of the game you don't like, that's fine too. It's just nice to know that you aren't the only one that feels the way you do about something. FGT is back in the garage and I'm moving on.

How can it be bad if it is hard? If there were one setup to dominate it wouldn't be fun. I don't really see the point of racing when you know you are going to win. I actually found it a little too easy, i won all races in first try (with a wheel though) but it was still so close and in the last 5 laps my palms were wet and i was concentrating too much to breathe. It was a lot of fun. If only you could pause after each race, because it does take a lot of time.
The competition is still forgiving enough that you can make a mistake in the first corner and still come from last to first by the end of the race. It is hard in Monaco though, but it is possible.

Well, I tend to agree with you. I did not enjoy the event. I won all the races, twice, once using a controller and once with a wheel. I did notice that with the wheel was substantially easier, but nevertheless I did not enjoy the ride.

I believe that it all comes to the attitude of the FGT. I would always try to win any other event with a significantly weaker car than redo any of the FGT events .:grumpy:

It sucks because it's a championship. I dominated the first race until the final lap, I screwed up in ONE corner and spun out. Next thing I know I'm in last place. fml now I have to restart everything.

No you weren't. You were whining because you couldn't "dominate."

While the GT series has always been first & foremost about collecting cars, whining that you actually have to drive well for however long in order to win a race will not garner much sympathy here.

FWIW, I can't stand the FGT either. I hated this series. (Not because I had to work to win it, but because I simply don't find the car enjoyable to drive.) But as soon as you comaplined about having a setup that was "good enough to win, but not to dominate" in your very first post, you lost any sympathy you mighta had from me, and it was clear how this thread would quickly turn.

If all you want is to collect cars and get money in order to do so, there are ways to cheat which will allow this. Expecting many people on a site like this to commiserate with you just because you've actually gotta DRIVE in order to win is foolish.

Hey, just like real racing. Except, you don't get to start over in real life.

It's a video game. Unless you're 14 and never met a girl before, you'd barely have enough time to start over if you manage to screw up once. I don't mind repeating one race at a time, but repeating a whole 2-3 hour championship is ********.

OMG I thought this was the most balanced series in A-Spec, in fact the only event that the AI gave me some challenge.

If you find the car too difficult to drive and you're too lazy to tune it yourself, consider turning on skid recovery force - it makes a whole lot of difference.

That said, I'm a wheel user so I can't comment on behalf of those using a DS3.

lots of people using driving aids in this thread...

If this is true then 95% of GT players are missing out on the point of "racing simulator".

That's like playing a golf simulator with a 1 button joystick, REALISTIC!

I've played golf with a one button joystick......it was just as enjoyable as GT5 is with a DS3. Point?

+1

1) This is the most realistic series. In real life, if you make 1 mistake, you're out of the race.

2) In real life, there is no such thing as one setup for all tracks

3) I want to go further to say that the FGT you drive in the series is much much faster than the AI cars. Vettel's Redbull is not "dominatingly" faster than Alonso's ferrari. In the FGT series, your car is MILES better than any of the competition, proof is that you can crash out to 12th place with 5 laps to go and still win. Impossible in real life

So morale of the story is, the problem lies between the DS3 and couch.

What? I hear you say that this is just a "game" and it shouldn't be this hard? grow up, that's the most pathetic thing I've heard of GT5 and you sound adolescent if that is your only arguement line. If you want Mario Kart fun, go play mario kart. /end rant

I've played golf with a one button joystick......it was just as enjoyable as GT5 is with a DS3. Point?

In your eyes, were you immersed? Did you enjoy improving your swing by rotating your wrists and changing your stance? Did you get a work out from swinging the club as you would if you were on the golf course?

You can argue until the cows come home I don't give a rats, but I (and others with wheel) are telling you that you are missing out without a wheel FULL STOP. If you wish to deny that and argue for the DS3, be my guest!

I ran the 4 hrs at Nurburgring in the fgt for practice. After doing that the fgt championship was no problem. You should only need to win 4 races. The 2nd place car had 395 points when it was over. The first two races are easy. I lost cote d'azur which I found crazy tough. The nurburgring has a point on the last stretch where you can cut across the grass for huge gains. Autodromo was not bad, easy to make gains in turns. Suzuka is tough but I had it won then so I took it easy and managed 4th.

I highly recommend running a shorter endurance in the fgt for practice. You'll be ready for anything in it after that.

It's not nearly as hard as some people have drummed it up to be. i won all golds on my first try using a ds3 and no tuning whatsoever. as long as you hit your marks and stay on the track you should be able to win pretty easily

I was immersed. I wasn't trying to 'improve my swing' I have a full set of clubs and a local membership for that. The same how I have a bowling ball for bowling, a rifle for hunting, and an oven for frikken' baking.

I have a wheel. A DFGT. The buttons are sporadic and it gets possessed from time to time being a 60$ defective bin wheel, but it works well enough most of the time. However, sometimes I just want to sit on my couch, and not have to exercise to play my games. 95% of GT5 is not unreasonable. Infact, its not even unreasonable to think that wheel users on this title are an incredibly underwhelming tiny percentage.

Dude seriously STFU! The FGT championship is harder than most championships and yes it takes a ton of practice. If you can't handle someone saying that they are having trouble doing an event the you need to GTFO! All he wanted was some tips or may be some encouragement, but you gave him that **** What is wrong with you! Someone asks for tips on a race they are having trouble with and you say:

If you are going to say something say something worthwhile try to help someone that is having trouble. If that is far too much to ask the I suggest you STFU!

@theOP: I am having trouble with it too. But I did figure out that shortening the gear ratios from what they are stock seems to help a lot. Also making the downforce in the back 90 and the front 47 seems to do a good deal for cornering. Best of luck to you! :)👍

Wow. I had no idea some of you took this so seriously. Since everyone is entitled to their opinion, let me share mine.

IT'S ONLY A GAME.

We buy games to have fun. We buy games because it allows us to do things we can't do in real life, either due to impossibility, lack of opportunity, or lack of money. GT5 is a racing simulator, which basically means it's virtual reality of what it would be like to actually race. But the true reality is that it's just a game.

If you absolutely have to prove to the world that you're a better driver than anybody else on a video game, if you have to have every car in the game, if you have to have every trophy, if you spend every possible minute you can playing GT5 (or any other game for that matter), then I truly feel sorry for you. I used to be that way. GT1 and GT2 were 100% completion, me and my brother playing it. But then I realized that other aspects of my life suffered because of my obsession with it.

Now I work 44-52 hours a week, have a mortgage, spend time with my friends, and actually race in real life. I bought this game to have fun and collect cars and money that I know I'll never have. But if it requires me to take 2+ hours out of my real life to win some virtual trophy, it just isn't worth it to me.

You guys and gals go have fun and enjoy the parts of the game you like, and ignore the parts you don't. That's what I'm doing. FGT Championship will just stay blank.

So were you saying you can't win at NASCAR or just that its taking too long? I won it (A spec and B Spec), ONLY after finding a cool tune here, and it took me 4.5 hours to do (A Spec). I got gold in all, and I bet I'm the worst driver in this thread. Ask me for the tune if you want it.

(And as for the 'its just a game', I hear ya. I'll not do some of the enduro if it looks like its gonna take like 25h or so. I'm also in it only for the fun)

Drive better.
I drive well enough to gold, or at least silver every single event I've been in, including the special events from the FIRST try. The only two exceptions were the lotus top gear challenge (took me about 7 tries), and the advanced daytona race in the nascar challenge.

I'm sorry, but anyone that says it's okay to repeat 2 hours of gameplay (I only get 2-3 a day) for making ONE mistake needs to grow up and get a life.
