FGT Championship A-spec sucks!

All this time I've been trying to find the right setup and messing with the LSD, suspension, etc. I finally took the recommendation to use stock settings and upped the TC a little. HUGE difference! I shave 10 seconds off my test track!

It's just too long and boring... so many long races in succession.

I've got all gold on everything except endurance (which I'll never do because I've done them in the past with my brother and I am SO over that crap), and I've been dreading this race. My dread is now reality, because this championship is absolutely horrible. I thought NASCAR was bad, but this is ridiculous. It's too long, WAY too long. I've run through every setup thread, and while it's enough to win (at least the first race anyway, that's as far as I've gotten), there is no setup to absolutely dominate. I'll be so glad when I get done with this because I will never touch this car again. If somebody knows some trick to this race, I'd certainly appreciate it. No sense in this.

Do your three races.

Go away for 6 hours.

Do 2 races.

Then your a winner, hooray!

All I did was buy the car and left it the way it was when I entered the series. I lost 2 races but won the series. I went back to beat the two races that I lost and came out victorious. It's only hard if you think it's hard. All I think about is passing the guy in front of me and once I pass him, I think about the next guy in front of me.

Oh, so you can't setup a car that is exactly the same as everyone elses, and then dominate? Aww, that's too bad. You really had to put skill, concentration and dedication together to win a race? Come on. Those races are some of the best in the game, really.

I did not find the championship that hard lol I golded all races in 1 championship.

I had previously attempted the FGT championship and gave up. Then, I went back to it yesterday and golded all 6 races with DS3

I really don't think I have improved that much as a driver, I think they change the AI in 1.07 patch and slowed it down a little.

Even in Cote, I was in the lead by the first lap and stayed there the entire race. The last time I tried Cote (v1.06), I got to first and then slowly one AI after another would pass until I was in 5th or 6th.

Did anyone else notice that FGT is easier now.

The FGT champs are a tough one. Wasn´t able to win in Cote, and didn´t even finish Suzuka. One of the few races, where competition is really good. Godda try it again I think..

I coudn't beat it until v1.07. I chalked it up to the added DS3 sensitivity as I put it all the way to +7 as soon as I noticed the option. It made all the F1 races much easier as well.

I'm not a good driver or experienced tuner. I use a DS3 and I pretty much gave up on the FGT when I first got to it because I couldn't get control of the car and it wasn't fun. I was surprised that I had a much easier time driving the Ferrari F2007 in the seasonals. With the v1.07 patch the DS3 became more sensitive, really helping with the fastest cars. I decided to go back and conquer the FGT Championship. My solution was to try and make the FGT handle as much like my F2007 as possible. I applied all the stock settings that came on the F2007 to the FGT. I raised the front and back spring rates proportionally to account for the fact that the FGT can be lowered and the current F2007 cannot.

I feel I succeeded and this car handled much better for me. It is still not as smooth as the F2007 because FGT has more power with less downforce, but it's close imo.

Here's the suspension setup I used:
RH: -10, -10
SR: 19.4, 19.5
E: 8, 8
C: 8, 8
ARB: 7, 7
C: 2.0, 1.0
T: -.5, .5

Anyone done Suzuka (A-spec) in the rain with the updates since this thread was started in late January?

I tested rain tires for an hour before entering the championship and found intermediates to be the best (the rain didn't change intensity in the 6-7 different times I exited to the championship screen and re-entered as a spot race). When I got to the race during the championship, I pulled to a 5s lead after 12 laps when the AI pitted and changed tires. Suddenly they were hunting me down at a pace of 15s/lap! The rain didn't change at all, so that wasn't a factor. There's no way I can go that fast with any of the racing tires. The oddest thing was that the AI was much faster in the straights, not just the corners.

How do you know for sure what tires your competitors are using? This would be a great help and some people on this thread seem to know exactly what the AI is using.

BTW, rain might not be my thing. I drive with a very "digital" or on/off driving style in which I am only 0% throttle or 100% and same thing with steering the car. This doesn't seem to work well in the rain, even though it has been very effective in other low traction situations such as rally and the rain courses from previous GT games.
