I don't use SRF but it is most definitely not cheating.. If a player used some kind of exploit to activate SRF when its supposed to be that would be cheating, but since it's random chance and a player might not even notice its on, it is not.

SRF is also unequivocally faster than without SRF, provided you're a quick racer who is pushing the limits of grip, SRF will artificially increase the grip level of the slipping tyres, as thats what it does.. this allows faster cornering speed.

It's not an exploit. It's a bug that's exploited. Sometimes knowingly, sometimes not. You can't say people wouldn't notice it was on though. Your one second+ quicker lap time doesn't mean your form has dramatically improved overnight. You're getting a lot of help to go quicker.

Ignorance can't be an excuse when every player can check their driving options when they join quick match though. You have to check/change your driving options (AS, TC etc) on the much more common courtesy car quick matches (massive difference in SRF enabled lap times with those races by the way) so why not check on the tuned quick matches as well? Then you have a choice to run it with or without SRF. Stay in the race and exploit the bug (essentially cheating) or leave and reconnect to a race with it turned off. It's simple really.

I've told the guy who reported it the first time that it isn't totally fixed so hopefully they'll look at it again. Until then, I'll keep asking that people stop using it when they don't have to.

Running 1.10.xxx at Roma tonight (previous best 1.12.xx), and then 1.22.xxx at the Cape (previous best 1.24.xxx) - for the first time ever, I got the SRF stuck on glitch!

What a big difference it makes. Wonder what the guy who was running 1.08s at Roma had stuck on (the speed that he kept passing me at, it looked like it must have been racing softs!)

Trouble was, the SRF was off in later rooms, and it took ages to get used to the car again!
How do you know if the SRF is on. I have always seen it greyed out.

I may have worded that post too harshly and I'm sorry about that. I call it cheating because if the quick match is meant to have it turned off by default, it should be run as such. A quick check of the driving options (before your first race starts) tells you whether you will have an unfair advantage in the race or not. I'm at least 2 seconds a lap quicker with it turned on and that gives you an idea of how strong an effect it has. For the record, I tested it offline as I barely ever see it turned on online.

Anyway, it got reported 2 weeks ago and they tried to fix it (possibly during server maintenance on the 18th) but they didn't do a full fix. It's a lot better but it isn't perfect and I won't go into details on how it's done.

I'll get in touch with the person who reported it for @FPV MIC and let him know it still needs work. PD obviously take it seriously with how quick they tried to fix it so hopefully a full fix won't take too long.
 You are a credit to the community:tup:

Found a little hidden treat(from me maybe), but the NSX concept 01 car is good. Fun to drive after some tuning. Had a best lap of 1:10.89x and a best total time of 3:40.34x.

Of course LaunderedKarma was in there with a GSXR running 1:09.1xx and total of 3:34.... Lol.

Can't paint it or change the wheels though.

New touring car QM at Monza. I'm not even going in there. Just tell me it's an orgy of shortcutting so I can go on with my life.
The game seems to punish shortcutters fairly well in this race. Your bigger issue will be the racecraft (or lack thereof), with 16 cars flying towards the first chicane, and everyone wanting to get there first, to the point of some forgetting that they have brakes of their own.

Then of course you have those drivers ie. everybody, who feel the need to throw themselves down the inside of a car ahead, no matter the corner, no matter how far back they are.

Albeit chaotic at times it can be fun to dice with clean drivers or splice through the field if you start low or got rammed early on in the race. If you can do sub 1:49s you'll beat anything that isn't the GTR and/or a good driver. Just remember people don't like to be overtaken.

I've switched to that race and your description is perfect.👍

I tend to wait for everyone else to go through turn one (any track) before I even look at it and it usually nets me half a dozen places. With Monza, I can go from last to third/fourth in all the ghosting car carnage. Madness.

The short cut isn't so bad either. They lose a lot of speed running through the sand and the 10 second penalty takes that much speed off for when they hit the straight that you can breeze past them. They soon learn it isn't viable.

Sub 49 is a dream for me but I've only done about 10 races so far and still learning. Got it down to 50.2 in the SLS and GTR and 50.5 in the rest of the cars but I need to perfect my line through the chicanes. I always worry about running too deep and getting a penalty trying to take it too fast. I'll get there. Eventually. Maybe.

You can take a lot of liberty through the second chicane, though the back can snap away from you over the bumps. Don't take too much kerb on the entry into Ascari, as tempting and flat as it is, else you'll get a penalty. Always make sure your turn in into the first chicane is good as it determines how well you hook up the subsequent right turn and then how quick you are out of it all. Monza is all about rhythm so you'll get faster everytime you race.

The new Spa race is as erratic as you'd expect giving 16 people cars so fast that only about 6 of them can complete a clean lap, let alone 3. Just by being patient with the throttle and being consistent and not making mistakes you will get very far. Anything below a 2:05 should set you up to win most of the time, and the 908 is favorite for this race again, just like Silverstone.

Thanks for the Monza advice. Duly noted.👍

It's one of the tracks I've neglected over the years with it not having that many corners. Sacrilege really with it being such an iconic track. Planning on a few long sessions over the weekend to get my line and braking points better and (hopefully) try to get down to at least a consistent 49.5. Then try and fine tune it from there.

As for the prototypes, we don't get on. They don't like me and I don't like them and the last Silverstone race reinforced that opinion. I guess they're above my pay grade.

Saw it an hour ago and got a couple of clean races in but there was only 7 of us racing. I say clean but they looked like they were struggling a bit. Luckily, I got a few thousand miles in when they ran this combo about a year ago and had a 15 second lead in the 2nd race. Nice to have a head start for a change.

I can't remember my lap time (maybe a 33) but I finished with a 5:40. Easily another couple of seconds to chop off the total as well.

I actually went in to try and improve on the touring cars but the GT500s winked at me and changed my mind instantly.

Can't believe my luck. GT3s and GT500s at the same time.👍

Same here. I know this track pretty good. I must train with this cars but some drivers even don't know where the next turn is....

Shortcutters delight again at Spa, oh joy......

I kept getting passed by a guy who cut at Eau Rouge (without penalty), but usually managed to get him again further round the track.

I appear to have SRF on permanently at Spa - no matter how many times I went in and out, or logged off and back on again, it stayed on (not on at Fuji though). I'll have to do Spa with one hand behind my back, to reduce the advantage!

Well, there's no denying it's hard to get right every time…
It was my first race in the 908, and I couldn't get on with the handling - went back to the TS030, much easier to control. I won every race in the TS030, until that room with you in it - are you sure your car wasn't dropping oil?

Likewise.

The NISMO is hard to figure out but really fast when you can. I like it.

Was just in a room with 9 other Peugeot cars. 12 second win with the Nissan.
Very fast in a straight line, but looked a bit if a handful in the corners.

It goes to understeering front tire peel out very quickly. I'm smoking tires. Wheel goes limp and there's that very fine line between grip and slip. And unfortunately, I think it's slower in the the tighter corners but also that it's equal in the medium corners. And it totally trucks along down the straights and seems to out brake everything. Also, flat out through Eau Rouge and that last, fast left corner. Cool car.

The Nissan is a weird car to drive, really. I never really got the knack of it at Silverstone, and just stuck with the 908 and the Toyota. I can see how it would be a rocket at Spa, but even if it might be the fastest, it just doesn't feel fun to me. Fighting understeer, smoking the tyres and my wheel going limp just feels like a chore.

The 908 has that torque that can really hit you like a truck if you're not careful, but once you have that down its a jack of all trades. The Toyota is more friendly and the KERS gives you great acceleration but it struggles to keep up on the straights. The Audi is just . More trouble than it's worth.

There is corner cutting, but the ones at Eau Rouge aren't so bad, you can take it flat out and still catch them in the tow. The ones cutting aren't particularly fast so it's only a matter of time you catch up. The jokers that bypass the final corner are a lot worse, of course, but no one with talent does that anyway so they won't win.

Try the Fuji speedway..... 🤬 Its like more a hillibilly stock car race:tdown:

They hit me and i get a 10 sec penalty.
Yea its pretty bad rewarding drivers who cut inside and slam you off your line, you get the penalty and they drive on...
