Weight has almost nothing at all to do with speed.

If it has enough power, the right gearing and little enough drag it'll do any given speed. If it won't do a given speed, either it doesn't have enough power, doesn't have sufficient gearing, has too much drag or any combination of those.

It is simple to hit 250 in the XJR-9 LM, simply adjust the trans. to a top speed of about 270, add a turbo (total of 1000hp), and if that isnt enough, get someone in a Veyron to provide a draft, you should hit 250 easily.

Yes,but the xjr-9 is lighter than the buggati and has high HP and torque its still amazingly fast and handles

I don't see how this relates to you trying to max out the speed of the Jag, what are you trying to tell us? Just set the gearing higher and install a turbo like luckypants said and it will work.

I think it would be a good race against the minolta, yes I tried it for some reason after it hits top speed the speed continuously drops

You're hitting the rev limiter. Set the gearing higher.

I can get 253 without too much of a problem. Anything over that however is a completely different matter!

If weight doesn't really affect the top speed of cars then why does the GT No Stripe have a higher top speed then the 06 GT?

Because it either has more bhp, a lower CD, smaller frontal area, different gearing or a combination of the above.

Physics is physics, it doesn't change because people believe it should work a certain way.

As has been repeated weight has almost no effect on the top speed or a car.
