I have seen a couple people online without a flag next to there nsme.

I have two questions...

How is this done?

And can I change my current flag on this profile, or do I have to make another one?

And here I thought americans are all patriotic as hell...

Up in the forum menu, choose My GTPlanet, on the left you'll find "Your Control Panel". There the first option "Edit Your Details" scroll down to "Additional Information" and select the blank instead of your country.

I should have clarified. I meant in the game. We are patriotic but my fellow Americans have ruined our reputation online and getting insta kicked is getting old.

In the game is it possible to get rid of the flag next to my name?

I remember back in the GT5 Prologue days, I frequently saw someone who had no flag displayed. Instead, it was just two dashes "--" and their username was either called or made to appeare as "offline".

I'm not sure how it's done, it could be an error, or perhaps this happens in countries that have no PSN store?

I thought it would be really useful...

For instance even if I have good connection I sometimes get kicked just because people think I will lag. Not even giving me a chance.

Or, when people just hate Americans.

Not having a flag at all would be awesome in those situations.

I woud like to remove the U.S. Flag from my user name so foreign hosts will be less likely to kick me instantly and solely because I live in the USA. It sucks, but only a little so long as I don't take it personally. People can be very prejudiced and ignorant.

I would suggest you register a new PSN account in a different country. It gives you access to their PS Store as well and it will show the the flag of the country you registered in.

I might be a bit careful with purchases in Stores not in your continental region. I for example had a bit of trouble with the DL Final Fantasy games from the US PS store due to different region code so I had to make an UK account to get them in english language.

Or they're 5,000 miles away from you and don't want to run a lobby where 90% of the drivers have a ping of 0.05s to each other and it's a full second to you - with GT5 being P2P, all it takes is one player with a high latency to destroy the race.

I've clarified this so many times already but people don't seem to get it..

We don't kick 'foreigners' because of racism or stereotypes. But because it's a general rule that it will cause incredible lag, once the room I frequent gets more than one person from America or UK people can't hear me over voice communication, 3 or more and peoples cars start lagging.

Stop taking it as a personal attack or an attack on your country.

OT: I've never come across this, but you could always make a profile and set your country of residence elsewhere if you're so intent on lagging people.

I'll never understand the whole "No USA" thing in online lobbies. I've seen jerks from Brazil, Canada, and the US. Not saying Americans can't be jerks, but the country of "Jerkistan" has no boundaries.

Personally, I love having the American flag by my name...I also love seeing other people with different flags; but the best is when you are in a race with a dozen people and there are almost a dozen nations represented and there is a huge cohesion of proper etiquette and racing.

Make a Canadian account.
You need an address so use this it is the Ontario legislation building.
110 Wellesley St W
Wellesley & Queen's Park Crescent
Toronto, ON M7A 1A2
Use that as your address.

Here's a pic of Famine and Uriehusky right now - :banghead:

Too accurate T_T

I've lost count of the amount of times I've explained this exact same thing to people :(

I`ve been attacked in rooms because of the flag, guys drop back to ram me and I can hear the host trying to find out if the move was successful.
I don`t really see a need for flags over the car, in the pit that`s ok but on the track it`s like a bullseye.
Besides, I`m driving as a gamer, not as a warrior for my country, I`ve served in that capacity already.

I've only ever seen one driver with this 'no flag' business.

I can only assume that it's due to a Region that was simply missed out when GT added the flags to match up with certain countries.

The game will be looking for a flag in the database that matches with that region name, there isn't one, so it has nothing to display. Quite obvious really?

Doesn't happen often but when it does it's awesome really. 👍 I was in an open lobby race at High Speed Ring last year that had multiple nations represented and while there was lag the etiquette was off the charts. Good times :sly:

I got kicked year ago without reason.

I cryed 3 days and it doesn't help at all. Then I started drink and lost my job, my gf left with my kid and I got to sell my house to get more beer..Well I'm almost drunk it now :(

Maybe reason was flag?

Now I'm planing try GT5 again but I'm not sure should I since last time did not go so well...

Americans are getting insta kicked? Never seen an American getting kicked out of a room because of being American. You might have joined a French room with an angry host..........

LOL, you gotta have some thicker skin online at the interwebs. :sly:

The only time I've ever been kicked is when I dished out what I was being given in Nascar lobbies. It's funny how some hosts ( regardless of nationality ) delight in ruining the races of others but when they get the same treatment they kick people. Immaturity reigns supreme in the open lobbies, not that this is news to anyone else..

I think this went right over most of your heads...

Sometimes finding a room with a spec you want to race is hard, especially when you get instantly kicked from the only one with people in it, just because they don't like Americans, or they think we will lag.

To the guy thinking I didn't understand lag, and how easily it happens. I am completely aware.

I am also aware that I join rooms from all over the world all the time, and the mojority of the time I am having no latency issues, I know this because I ask them.

So, now that your caught up. Can we get to the part where we figure out how to get rid of the flag? If I moved to Canada I would be stuck with an American flag, its not possible to change it?

Cheers, mates.

You're only option is to create a new account and list it under another country, as said before. Easiest way as well.

"That guy" Answered your question, while also explaining to you WHY people kick people from other countries in great detail

I'm happy for you that you have good internet and have no issue connecting to people from far away - But other Americans frequently do have issues and definitely cause them.
That's why it's easier for people to just kick instantly rather than risk it.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Stop taking it personally.

Once again, I answered you. So don't get snarky as if all I did was tell you why you're getting kicked. You can only change your flag by setting your residence elsewhere.

I believe the 3rd post may have the answer....
Wait, a guy comes on and says his country flag won`t appear and that`s the answer?
I`m afraid you`re right Rosckolove, this is certainly going over peoples head...

Not over my head. Albeit very rare I have also seen racers that have no flag next to their name. I'm assuming the guy in the 3rd post has this problem. I guess all you need to do is create another psn account using his country.
