Following GT6, will GT7 be an automatic purchase?

i would preorder right now if it would be announced allready.

im hard pressed to find a game that gives more bang for the buck than gt series

I bought GT1,2,3,4,5 & 6 without thinking twice. With all the drama surrounding GT6, I have to say I'll be waiting when 7 is released before I spend my money. When comparing GT5 & GT6, instead of a step forward I think they stepped sideways!

In my case i bought GT1,2,3,4 and 5 without thinking (even buying consoles just for them), up until 4 rightly so as these games were all very enjoyable and always added something refreshing, but 5 was such a disappointment to me i learned my lesson and what you are planning to do with 7 i did with 6 and skipped it after reading what it was about.

Haven't regretted it for a moment, the difference being that there are many descent alternatives out there today, and back in the early days of GT you didn't have that on consoles.
 
The big issue and the real question about purchasing GT7 is that it requires a PS4. When I bought my PS3 in 2008, the 'fatty' prices had just come down, we were in the middle of a recession and buying a console with GT5P, Ferrari Challenge & F1CE was a lot cheaper than buying or building a decent gaming PC.

Now that I HAVE a decent gaming PC, and for the last two years have spent a lot more time with PC sims, it's not so simple. I can tell you that my purchase of GT6 was pretty much a no brainer because I had the PS3 just sitting there and I had a Gamestop gift card that had been sitting around for a year and likely wouldn't have been used otherwise. (I'm not much of a gamer outside of racing sims).

I don't think I would buy GT7 unless it was a HUGE improvement and finally addressed some of the legacy issues.
 
I only use one racing sim as switching between physics models confuses me :lol:, for me at the moment it's GT6. However, Project Cars is looking more & more to be a GT killer. There are also some great PC sims coming, like Assetto Corsa, which look great too. I've been slowly going off of GT since GT4, GT6 might be the final nail in the coffin as regards this series for me. If PD stop patronising their customers, stop forcing things on us & start giving us options, then maybe. Only time will tell...
 
Nope. I've had it with PD's insane levels of pure incompetence, laziness and inability to act on feedback.
I'll probably jump ship to Project Cars, as it would seem it is being developed by people who are at least a tiny bit competent at what they do. PD needs to stop making games all together. They're an insult to the gaming community and the automotive industry.

GT7 is propably a made purchase for me, considering the potential GT6 shows. It is clearly limited by hardware, a fault on PD's account for going too ambitious perhaps, but the power of the PS4 combined with the intended vision of the GT franchise makes for a promising future.

For many, GT5 and 6 were disappointments. I do believe that the technical flaws can be ironed out by a huge leap in power. GT6 has the potential to look next-gen already, if only by increasing the resolution, increasing the car grids, perfect the lightning, and pushing the button to make the cars into the detailed models they were created as in the first place. Everything points towards a future-centric approach, with PD, instead of fixing this generations mistakes opting for the long run in order to make GT what it is supposed to be.

That attitude, I think, slapped many people in the face expecting the grandeur of GT being on display here and now. While it is a great and very enjoyable game, it reeks of untapped potential just not possible on current hardware.

So why the positive outlook on things?

The massive leap in hardware power and the preparation PD has done in order to move towards the next generation will propably pay off massively once GT7 arrives. The amount of time that had to go into optimizing, squeezing every bit of power out of the dated PS3, can now be focused on other aspects of the game. With technical problems (hopefully) out of the way, PD can focus on the GAME instead of the technology.

So, there will propably be a lot more time to focus on the sound engine, on the A.I. (also propably limited by technical problems) and on the game structure as a whole. At least 400 cars are already ready to make the leap. So are almost all of the circuits bar the original ones.

If PD does nothing to change this, then well, indeed GT7 won't be a purchase for me. But I doubt it. I highly, highly doubt it. Let's hope I'm right...
 
I have owned all the GTs from 1 to 6. I bought my PS3 specifically for GT before GT5P was even available. However, I was so disappointed by GT5 (and subsequently GT6) that I went to try PC sims instead and discovered that I much preferred them - in particular iRacing. So, unless GT7 comes out and blows everyone away (decent AI!) I'm not likely to buy a PS4 and GT7.
 
Like many others here it depends on a few things.

- The price of the PS4. If prices have fallen or not. As is I won't even get a PS4 let alone GT 7
- GT 7 must be a big leap forward. I'm not too impressed with how things are going. If GT 7 is just the same repetitiveness we are already having then no , not getting it. GT 7 will have to be very very different.
- Compatibility of my wheel. That must work. I'm not gonna buy a new wheel just for 1 game.
 
I missed out on the first two years of GT5 mainly because I refused to pay upwards of £200 for a console to only play one game, so when I had the chance to buy a brand new 12gb super-slim for £120 the day after boxing day 2012 from HMV of all places, I jumped on it and bought the GT5 academy edition along with it.

I doubt I will get a ps4 until [if ever] it is sub £200, however long that will be after GT7 is on the shelves is anybody's guess.
 
Will be pre-ordering as soon as I can. Remember it's on a new console that is apparently easier to make games for. I don't think GT6 is as good as it could have been but I think GT7 will redefine racing games on consoles!
 
Considering GT6 made me buy a PC and transfer to PC racing and Project cars coming out for everything - no.
GT6 uses an engine they have been using since 2008 and still 1.5months after release they haven't begun to release the missing features. Imagine them having to transfer to a new console and release GT7 in a year as they have stated. There is no way GT7 will be able to catch up to the other players on the market. They are already a couple of years behind.

If they release a Gran Turismo toaster, Gran Turismo cat food, Gran Turismo Shampoo, I will buy it all too.
 
I have been tricked twice into buying a GT game.

My first meeting with the GT series was GT5P, I was hooked from the start, I was introduced to Sim racing and I couldn't get enough, I went all out and bought a wheel and a cheap rig...I had found the hobby I was looking for and life was beautiful.

I couldn't wait for GT5 to be released, I reasoned that it would be GT5P and a whole lot more, I couldn't wait to get my laps down on the time trial leader boards and continue the fight I was having in competing with friends to claim the fastest time.

GT5 is released. I can't find the time trial leader boards. Maybe they will be added soon? No, they were not. Very disappointed, but still glad I bought the game, had hours of fun in online races.

I find other racing games and broaden my horizons...

I decide not to rush out and buy GT6, will see how the far Eastern wind is blowing...

Only a few days to go before release, I'm hearing & reading good things about the game, still undecided.

One day before release, I log onto GTP forum and see on the news page that there will be online leader boards. That's all I need to know. I rush out the next day with a pep in my step and pick up a copy no problem without pre ordering.

I then discover that the online leader boards were referring to the seasonal events...I swore, I shook my fist, I kicked the cat.
After my initial disappointment, I get over it and dive into the game. Single player mode is just too much of a chore, nothing that resembles a motor race, nothing that resembles a motorsport career.
I decide after much internal debate to do 'the glitch'. 200,000,000 credits later, all race cars purchased, I can now concentrate online and much fun is had and it continues...

Long story short, GT7 will not be purchased by me even if all my demands and wishes are met by the game.

As soon as Project Cars is released, I will go out and get my PS4, and pCars is where I will be devoting my time and honing my sim race craft, taking part in a proper single player motorsport career, competing with friends on the leader boards and battling it out online with fellow sim racers.

For me personally, GT7 will be too little too late, no matter what they include in the game. For some people GT can do no wrong, and I understand why they feel like this, they have had GT1 through to 6 and feel emotionally attached to the series, they love it, they love the structure of the game and the database of cars that it offers...absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I have no such loyalty to any game or series, If the game/sim is good then its good, if its bad its bad and Im not going to spend my precious time and money on a game just because I feel loyalty to a dev team/company I've never met.

I don't mean to keep mentioning pCars but I really can't see how GT7 can compete...even if the single player game modes and online structure (clubs/leagues) are identical, I much prefer the look and sound of the work by SMS.

I don't want 1200 cars, or any road cars for that matter, nor do I particularly want made up racing circuits...I want a pure racing game/sim that mirrors the real world of motorsport with proper racing cars, circuits and rules....how else am I going to live out my racing driver fantasies?

The GT series is a great series, GT7 will probably be a great game, its just not what I'm looking for anymore...

Yes I did, thanks for reminding! Totally forgot that it was getting a console release, I remember a few years ago when Simbin were supposedly making GTR3 there were rumours of a console release, but we just ended up with RRE, which sucks imo.

I heard Darin Gangy mention in a video recently that iRacing are even thinking of making their sim available on the next gen consoles...a wet dream for me!

No way! If this happened I would actually pass out or something. It would surely affect PC subscriptions though, I wonder (if it happened) if they'd sell it on disc or use a similar subscription method like on PC? Subscriptions are probably more lucrative on PC but the console market may be different

The problem is who will "release" that "air" and "how". Imagine if that "air" come from too many beans.

I'm not sure but I imagine it would follow the same format as PC, they would probably make their software available to download on the console, we pay our dues and then we go online and race!

The video where it is mentioned is on the new Thrustmaster wheel for Xbox One review on Inside Sim Racing, he mentions it near the end.

I hope you're right, but I heard very similar comments during the shift from GT3/4 on the PS2 and how things would be SO much better on the PS3. And now people are beginning to play the same old broken record about GT7 on the PS4.

Take it with a grain of salt. Tony Gardner, ceo of iRacing, responded to a question during an interview a few months ago, that they have think tanks constantly 'exploring options' and of course among the many things they looked at was the console market. If it were to happen, and that's a big if, it's a long way off. They have no immediate plans. And he did mention that it would be a separate game/service just for consoles and likely wouldn't interact with the PC/Mac version online, even if it were to happen.
