Following GT6, will GT7 be an automatic purchase?

I've been a supporter of PD and the GT series since day one - we're talking GT1 on the PS1! I got my PS3 primarily to play a GT game - this was in anticipation of GT5, though I never played prologue. GT5 was a great game. Despite some odd design/game dynamic choices, it gave me enough confidence to happily pre-order GT6.

Right now, GT6 literally feels like GT5.5 MINUS some of the features that were already there. It's what GT5 should have been, only they inexplicably took out good features like shuffle races and endurance races, and gutted other features like offline single races, while making no improvements whatsoever to the lame excuse that is the current career mode.

I understand that there are planned content additions on the way, so I am withholding final judgement for the time being, but my patience will not last forever. I am very curious to see the community features realized, as well as the GPS course maker and the return of real endurance races with B-Spec driver support. Those things alone would go a great length to reassure me, but for now they only exist in the hypothetical.

PD retaining my business going forward is further compounded by the system jump that will accompany GT7. This jump provides the perfect opportunity or excuse, depending on your point of view, to look at other games and systems. If I get a PS4 it would be primarily to play GT7, so GT7 has to be worth the kind of money to justify not only its own purchase, but that of the system as well.

As things currently stand, I will be waiting until after GT7 comes out so I can make a fair comparison with whatever Forza is out there as well as iRacing and whatever other competing titles may be out at that time. I am going to be very picky before agreeing to pay a monthly subscription (a point off for the PS4 though I understand Sony doing it).

Whether or not PD gets my future money is basically up to them. They can turn their focus toward racing and almost guarantee my support, or they can continue removing good features and modeling the moon and the stars and drive me kicking and screaming into the laps of their competitors. I couldn't imagine it getting to this point, and yet here we are already moving in that direction. Where we go from here is up to PD.

Actually, it's up to you as a consumer. PD will produce what PD produces. It's your choice as to whether you participate or not. No skin either way. The game will continue to exist in both cases. The fanbase is orders of magnitude larger than GTP and the other major GT forums memberships en total.

GT6 isn't what GT5 should have been, it's what GT5 morphed into. As will be the case with GT7, and GT8, etc. It is missing things, no doubt. I'm still tapping my feet waiting for the course maker, but I'm sure they'll deliver, as will be the case for the community features and BSpec. I didn't buy GT6 to complete the game for trophies, nor did I buy it expecting some revolutionary change that radically altered the nature of the franchise. I bought it for the improved physics, revamped menues, additional courses, and other changes (the coming coursemaker) that I decided was worth investing in. Why some people bought it just m'cuz continues to amaze me. I can't afford frivolous expenditures. I have a mortgage and a post NWO income. For some, it's obviously a source of buy-as-you-please, but for the rest of us it's "hmm. more generic peanut butter and generic canned veggies and milk or skippy and some scrumptious overpriced imported organic free-range apples?")

Will be pre-ordering as soon as I can. Remember it's on a new console that is apparently easier to make games for. I don't think GT6 is as good as it could have been but I think GT7 will redefine racing games on consoles!
Remember, this was the case with the PS3, compared to ps2, as well and look how that turned out.

PS4

... PS4 GT

yahh ill buy it now if i could.

Remember, this was the case with the PS3, compared to ps2, as well and look how that turned out.

ehh wrong, PS3 was far bigger bitch to program for then PS2. None ever claimed PS3 was easier.

PS2 was a walk in the park compared to the Cell

Ehhh, wrong.
There were 1st party devs claiming ps3 was MUCH easier to program for than ps2. Killzone devs come to mind and I'm sure there were others. But please tell me how those were just claims and that what they are telling us now is like totally different.

I feel like GT6 added so many cars I've been wanting forever. Cadillac CTS. Ferrari FXX. Tons of American muscle. Just a general update of cars to their newer generations in general. I can't really name a car I want in the game that it doesnt have anymore. Hell, when the FT-1 was announced I wanted that and I got it for free in like 3 days! Im happy with it no matter how much this community hates it.

Maybe they claimed its so powerful and great kissed its ass like any 1st party dev would its called pr, but none said its actually easier. Taking the word of someone not payed by sony would be a much better source of legit info.

3rd partys pretty much dubbed the PS3 as hardest console to program for, it sank many developers in Japan into obscurity same ones that kicked ass on PS2. It was universally penned as difficult and took years for devs to catch up quality to the 360 even though it was more powerful hardware.

Id guess you are just posting some bs doom and gloom like many on here no matter what the subject is. Doubting PS4 easy of dev and brinig up LMAO PS3 as if it was easy to dev on lol shows you are just posting some personal BS agenda.

PS4 is the anti PS3, designed by developers for developers not crazy K. But keep spewing foolishness to suit you feelings.

 keep your ignorant assumptions at bay fido

Someone on the internet saying PS4 is easier to develop for than PS3 is legit.
Someone on the internet saying ps3 is easier to develop for than ps2 is not legit.
Awaiting for part 2 of your novel...

read some gdc articles then post child.
keep spouting ignorant bs, yes your feelings are facts lol.

Unfortunately, as GT has no direct competitor, GT7 will be an automatic purchase. Consoles definitely need more sim racers, we've only got one! Can't even play the main rival Forza without buying another console 👎

Luckily, I'm not getting a PS4 until they release a 'slim' version so by that time GT7 should be at least a year old and I'll miss the stupid beta test period we're currently in with GT6.

The ps4 is already slim so you will be waiting a very long tme.

My feelings haven't been part of this discussion. I've learned better during my previous stint on GTP. :sly:

Let me back track for you a little bit so maybe you can spot just where things got confusing for you:

Someone said "Remember it's on a new console that is apparently easier to make games for." This is a fact. This person said this because they read it somewhere.

To which I replied "Remember, this was the case with the PS3, compared to ps2, as well and look how that turned out." This is also a fact.

To which you replied "ehh wrong, PS3 was far bigger bitch to program for then PS2. None ever claimed PS3 was easier." Which is indeed incorrect. :sad face:.gif As shown by both my reply below and also by my assumption that you don't actually know how to program for either console.(yes, bit of ignorance on my part) I should've stopped here as your feelings and attitude had already gotten the best of you before there was any reason to. My mistake.

To which I replied "There were 1st party devs claiming ps3 was MUCH easier to program for than ps2." Which again is a fact and disproves your statement of "NONE ever claimed PS3 was easier."

This is where things got a bit out of hand and you decided to go a little Mel Gibson.

Yes I'm being a bit condescending but I just can't help it. Coming at people with bitch and BS from the get go with no reason just makes you that much easier of a target.

If I got something wrong, I apologize and please correct me.
Let me know if I can be of any more help in the future.
Thanks.

I'm well past the point of "considering" buying Gran Turismo games, probably since GT2 or GT3. I'm one of the most vocal people about the problems in the games, especially GT5 and GT6, but I'm still a huge fan and I'll keep buying the games until or if I stop playing videogames.

I hope GT receives a massive overhaul for GT7 as it desperately needs a fresh kickstart, but even if it's the same game with more (premium) cars and tracks I'll be getting it.

Certainly not, GT7 will have to be shockingly good for me to even consider it this time round. And if it doesn't support my T500RS will not be getting it at all.

It would be rather unbelievable if GT7 had the same AI , engine sounds and career structure not talking obviously about any new features.

The problem is ( and we can all agree that this is something *real* ) - the amount of PS4 quality content. I say it will be similar to Forza5 in that regard - GT7 will be MUCH smaller than GT6 both for tracks and cars.

In reality GT6 and 5 are smaller than 4 - all standard and dupes are there for numbers.

Only if we take away all non premiums we're at 400+ already. Then there are "standard" tracks which wont be ported.

With GT7 we're on a way back to GT3 - new system and much more time to create higher quality content thus ..less content.

I just can't see how they can create PS4 photo-ultra-real models in the same amount of time they need for PS3 models - and that already takes them a lot of time per car.

Let's just hope it'll be a good game.

I'm no longer interested in the gt series thanks to gt6 and will follow gt7's progress only as an interested gamer and not potential buyer, The problem with gt5 and gt6 is not the ps3's resources but Kaz himself and his decisions (worried himself about the moons surface not being accurate really?), He never thought it important to make a career mode that is somewhat enjoyable or like a race drivers career, Do this race, Do that race in this car, Now do this race with this car on this track for no apparent reason other than to avoid me (kaz) having to spend more than 5 minutes working on a career structure.

Pause race and accidently hit restart, restart confirmation>yes no, Accidently hit exit>it exits no confirmation, So many annoying things that add up to make you go nutts and none of it is to do with hthe ps3, Kaz doesnt want me to have too much freedom, He thinks you and i should like cars to look the way he thinks they should look.

I dont think anyone from PD plays this game because if they did then they would have the same issues or annoyances as we do, They would think of things like "oh i wish i could customise cockpit camera view" or "i wish those dam AI cars didnt drown my car sounds out" and many other things like that which are nothing to do with being too ambitious for the PS3,

Make no mistake about it GT7 will be one big headache just as GT5&6 was, Kaz and PD have neglected the "game" part of GT. I hope they make a great game but my head is somewhere else now, Too little too late as someone said in an ealier post

The PS3 was my first console after the Nintendo NES (Famicon), and GT5 Prologue was my first game from the GT franchise. So I have no idea how the progress was between earlier games of the series. But I can say that from GT5 to GT6 there basically was no progress. It's the same game again, but this time with a heavy bug (the tire change one) that ruins long races.

So GT6 was a heavy disappointment for me. Unlike GT6, GT7 will not be an automatic purchase. But I may still buy it - because there is almost no competition on the PS4. I will stick to the PS (and not switch to XBOX), because I want to continue playing some PS exclusive game franchises. Putting my wheel stand at the PC is quite troublesome and I much prefer to use it at the PS. Maybe PCARS might become competition for GT7. I hope so. This might push PD a bit.

GT6 is undoubtedly an improvement (overall) on GT5, but considering I already had a PS3 when both GT5 and GT6 were released, GT6 could seriously be my last GT game :S

If I find 'another' reason to buy a PS4 (like, just 2 other games, that'd be enough for me), at its at a reasonable price when GT7 comes out, who knows, I might pre-order or buy later the GT7/PS4 package that will likely exist.

Currently if GT7 came out tomorrow, in Australia it'd be a $650 purchase, so nah-uh. If it were maybe a $400 purchase, and there were other games I could get 'as well', then it'd be a different story.

Probably. GT5 Prologue had me excited, but Forza 3 softened GT5's impact to me. I was really disappointed by GT5...I enjoyed FM3 and FM4 more, honestly. GT6 is much better than GT5 and actually feels like an improvement instead of a graphical upgrade.

I'll be getting GT7, no question. Though I wondering how did GT6 go sideways as you stated and so many think? When almost everyone is still doing the same thing in GT6 as they did in GT5. How do you really know what GT6 is capable of if you still still the same things from GT5? Answer me that, and be logical about it and not a gamer about it.

Yes, I would buy it but I don't have a PS4 yet either. If GT7 is released this year, I might not get it on release (since I just invested in a new PC [1300€] ). But if it is released in 2016 or even 2017, then I will most likely pre-order whatever editon I can with PS4.

The fact that PS4 is way more powerful than PS3 makes GT7 sold for me. If PD can do this much with PS3 they can do 10 times more with PS4. GT is one of the best racing/driving games you can get. No. 1# on PS3 (IMO).

Give them some ease, they are already pushing PS3 to the max with GT6 as it is now. There are things the PS3 simply can not do even if PD wanted to.

I know nothing about GT7, if I do I'm a Time Traveler. All I can do is speculate at the moment and that won't help me.
Way a moment there, you are not going to speculate. That's a complete 360'.

I will speculate when my time travel machine is finished.
LOL, I want to take a ride as well. I want to go BACK TO THE FUTURE!!! part 35. LOL
