Following GT6, will GT7 be an automatic purchase?

If I get a PS4, which I don't think I will, I'll definitely get GT7.

I think the PS3 is the last console for me though. But maybe in the future I'll borrow the PS5 from my kids and play a little Gran Turismo 10 ;)
 
For the first time, no, the next iteration of the game will not be an automatic purchase. I will wait for reviews and see how it goes on that front, something I know a lot of people have done with GT5/6 and didn't buy the game as of yet. Bugs, glitches, lack of completeness at release etc. etc. etc. all speak to a team that is no longer focused and the product is getting away from them. Maybe they'll get it together again for GT7, I hope they do, in the meantime I'll be picking up a PS4 and Project Cars and see how that goes.

Actually, it's up to you as a consumer. PD will produce what PD produces. It's your choice as to whether you participate or not. No skin either way. The game will continue to exist in both cases. The fanbase is orders of magnitude larger than GTP and the other major GT forums memberships en total.

GT6 isn't what GT5 should have been, it's what GT5 morphed into. As will be the case with GT7, and GT8, etc. It is missing things, no doubt. I'm still tapping my feet waiting for the course maker, but I'm sure they'll deliver, as will be the case for the community features and BSpec. I didn't buy GT6 to complete the game for trophies, nor did I buy it expecting some revolutionary change that radically altered the nature of the franchise. I bought it for the improved physics, revamped menues, additional courses, and other changes (the coming coursemaker) that I decided was worth investing in. Why some people bought it just m'cuz continues to amaze me. I can't afford frivolous expenditures. I have a mortgage and a post NWO income. For some, it's obviously a source of buy-as-you-please, but for the rest of us it's "hmm. more generic peanut butter and generic canned veggies and milk or skippy and some scrumptious overpriced imported organic free-range apples?")

Actually it's up to both of us. I want to continue giving my support (and money) to PD. I love GT. But I want to race in a racing game, as absurd as that sounds. I don't care if the stars are accurate - it's not like we have free head control in the car to look at the sky anyway, let alone the time while we're, ya know, racing. I have no interest driving WW2 vehicles or on the moon, or accurately modeling blades of grass or any other off topic thing PD wants to put in a racing game.

I want to support PD making racing games. The choice, for them to decide, is if they want to make them. It's 2014: there are basic elements to racing that should be represented by now in a top level game, but for whatever reason PD cannot or will not put them in. I sincerely hope that changes - I will be looking for reasons to justify buying a PS4 just for GT7 when the time comes, and I hope I can find them.

This is what I did for GT6...

And that's why I don't have it yet.
 
I've been a die hard GT fan since GT1. GT is the reason I own play stations at all but GT6 has been quite a disappointment for me. The AI is horrible, the career mode is unstructured and pointless and the GD AI is terrible. Did I mention the AI is terrible? There is no way I should be able to win races with stock cars that are 150 pp points below the race leaders. If I am slow, don't adjust to my pace, make me get faster. Stop dumbing it down. No one gets better just because things get easier. Working for a win is much more satisfying then having it given to you. I want to lose some times so I have an excuse to mod my car, or try others out.
So in essence, no, GT7 will not be an automatic purchase and because of that neither will PS4.
 
I have had my PS4 since release day and will be pre-ordering GT7 as soon as its available thanks very much:D
 
Some really just need to give GT6 a true judgement as it's a total new game and was clearly designed differently than GT5 or any of the previous titles. Even though it has a number of the same aspects from the precious titles, as the mad tuning, power limiter, quick match "which will return soon" and others. Even those areas returned it was for what some should be thinking is the better of the game or "SIM" and now that GT has stepped into another world as I stated before many of times people are very uncomfortable with it as well learning again.

As I said before once GT got deeply evolved with Motor Sports, us asking for real world performance along with the Academy and the results it has produced. The changes had to occur as well, maybe more rapidly than some of you may have liked. It will change again but we'll have to adapt. Just give it another try and judge it as a new platform based on the new history of GT.

As many others have said, if I happen to own a PS4 at the time GT7 is released, yes it will be an automatic purchase.

If I don't have a PS4 by that time, then a decision will have to be made.

Correction, it's "clearly designed differently than GT5" in your eyes, not in everyone's eyes. Parts of the core of the game are the same or worse. Sounds, not much difference overall. Physics, improved on most cars, but tuning is partially broken and generally inefficient, brake balances don't work in some modes etc. Gameplay...sad. Backwards evolution in offline play from all other versions of the game, AI sucks, no difficulty slider in so-called Career Mode. Online is incomplete and glitchy.

How exactly would giving the game another chance change any of this?

Then you should have said "those that won't purchase GT7 based on GT6" by saying "We" you made it sound like everyone shares your opinion.

It's understandable that not everyone will buy a game at release, i hope GT7 will be have a lot new features using the PS4's power, my current answer is neutral.

Who in the world would know what you had on your mind by just saying "We", read your post again and ask yourself if anyone would figure out what group of people you were referring to as "We".

Nope, no GT7 for me.

Only bought GT6 because i already had a PS3.

GT6 is a huge step back compared to GT5 on the same hardware, so there is no reason to believe GT7 will be any better only because the hardware is more capable.
 
As I've always said, GT makes me buy the console. But this time around... I don't know... I really want to see and play GT7, but I'll be cautious. I have a bad feeling for some reason.

Still going to buy it though.

I won't buy a PS4, unless GT7 is earthshattering. Not very likely I think.

I also bought a PS3 just to get GT5...and man was that a mistake. GT5 was extremely underwhelming all around and I've basically heard GT6 is almost a step backward from that even. I haven't even bought GT6 and driving games are almost always a day-one purchase for me. So no, seriously doubt I'll be getting GT7 unless they've actually made massive changes and improvements which based on PD's track record is highly unlikely.

I used to be a huge fan of GT 1-4 but 5 and 6 are just rediculously outdated in gameplay, sounds, AI and athmosphere. There is no realistic or exciting racing in GT6 at all. Even if the physics improved, its the most bland and boring driving game out there right now and unless they finally kick out all the outdated stuff, they will be left behind very soon. Didnt buy GT6, didnt miss it for one second.
 
Purchase? On PS4, betas will be far more practical for developers so I will try the beta first.

Surely there'll be a beta! They would never want to ship busted products to consumers!
 
Since I'm a gamer, I'll be getting a PS4 at some point this year. Just couldn't afford it last Christmas.

And since there is no person in the world like Kaz, and no developer with the unique attitude of Polyphony Digital, and no racing game with the panache and soul of Gran Turismo, day 1 purchase by me.

Well, i thing GT6 is better than GT5. And i thing there is more stuff to come for GT6.

But i agree with you, the game is bland, not exactly boring but bland. !!!!!
