I don't think either will make the other obsolete. If you've got the money for either one you are going to know which you want.

YSSMAN's idea.

Well, yeah. Generally speaking, it seems rather out of the ordinary for Americans to create any kind of GT car, but when you go through the checkboxes, the Camaro begins to fit the bill fairly well. I think the big hurdle is the name "Camaro."

While I am not a fan of the GT's styling I must say it looks like a great performer. Although I noticed in the Inside Line track test videos the car had a fair amount of body roll and nose dive. My father test drove the Camaro SS and he said it was a boat of a car (then again my father considers a DB9 a boat of a car so his standards are quite high). Basically he said that it is still a muscle car in muscle car form and not a sports car in muscle car. Hopefully the 2011 GT will be better. Although at this point a used EVO X or 335i is looking like the more likely option.

WOW, I mean the 5.0L is practically what you'd expect for such a powerful V8 of that weight, but damn that V6 has an impressive number.

VQ? Are you trying to say the VQ still outperforms this? This new Mustang is a couple pounds and a few ponies from matching the Z34 in acceleration and it meets the magical HR Z33s. And it's 24 or whatever grand. Don't get me wrong, with 35k in my pocket I'd be shopping Z vs GT and until I drive both back to back I have a hard time thinking the Z is in too high of a price range. But there is no denying sub 14 second 1/4 mile times from a sub 25k car is pretty impressive.

Anyway, I am looking forward to some comparos a in month or so. Car and Driver just put up a 1/4 mile for the 5.0 of 13.2 compared to their 13 flat for the Camaro. The closet Ford fan (and not so closeted bench racer) in me is worried that all this hype may not yield the results I'm looking for.

But Motor Trend (of all people) put up 12.8s for the '11 GT. I think the new GT will easily beat the Camaro in a straight line--but I don't care about that. I do care about the handling, shifting feel (shifter and pedal) and of course the noise.

Holy crap I'm stupid impressed with the new GT....It's truly in a league of its own now.

So what will all the little teeny-bopper girls with rich parents drive now?

I know a girl that just turned 16 (friend of a friend) and her parents bought her a brand new 2009 WRX before she could even legally drive it. Now for her 16th birthday they put all kinds of aftermarket goodies on it.

Wish I had a daddy that worked in the oil fields. :yuck:

Something they've always driven. tC's, V6 Mustangs, & SUVs.

And V6 Camaros and Challengers now. I saw a Challenger R/T being driven by a girl at the gas station today. She was heavy on the throttle as she left, and I did not like the sound of that thing at all. Then it hit me that it sounds almost exactly like a 5.0 Foxbody.

-> I'm beginning to like this New-Gen 5.0, it it looks very promising compared to the sedate S197v1 4.6 GT. I want to test drive this beast more than the Camaro. :dopey:

-> Unfortunately, my first choice is still the *Monaro* GTO 6.0. But that may or may not change after I driven the Nuevo 5.0. :)

:odd: The Hemi sounds nothing a Fox body 5.0. Granted, I don't like the stock exhaust note of any R/T or SRT cars, but they don't sound like any Mustang I've ever heard.

99% of 302s sound like trash. Mostly because the exhaust has 10 year old Flowmasters while Flows start going to hell at around 2 years old.

I love the sound of a fox body 5.0. Plus they're unique. I can tell that there's one coming down the road without even looking.
