What he says is the 5.0 can hang with the Vette on the straights, it's braking into corners that's an issue, but the handling itself is fine... in fact, better than the Camaro. But that's the racetrack... don't know how that translates to the street. He had a similar opinion of the new V6 and regular V8.

 How did she learn about the new mustang?

Don't fret, my Mom says the same thing every time I start rambling about new cars. "Did you see that black one on TV? I want mine to be like that!" Even the girls at work who know little/nothing about the car are already obsessed with it.

I blame American Idol.

The funny part is that my mom had a Fiero that she loved... until my dad traded it for a Rustang that died in a year.

Of course it's better than the Camaro, but I still doubt it can hang with an LS3 Corvette, even on straights, and especially in corners.

Found this on YouTube, thought it was interesting. Video at the bottom.

Take one 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 and add an X-pipe, catback exhaust, intake and a tune and you get 413whp, 385wtq. Then add in 3.73 gears. Result? How about an 11.65 second 1/4 mile time at 118mph on drag radials?

Gets interesting when you add a 100hp shot of Nitrous. 469whp, 513wtq. Bring that 1/4 time down to a 10.88 @ 126mph.

With freaking bolt-ons, a tune, and a small shot of nitrous these things are hitting 10's already!

Ridiculous. Sounds pretty damn good too. :D But, let me hear a roots supercharger on it before I make my final determination if I like the new 5.0 more than the 4.6/5.4L.

Pffft. If I had the cash to put out for one of these right now, it's all about a large turbo for me. V8 + Turbo =

Saw an '04 recently at a car show that had been de-supercharged and they had replaced it with a single turbo setup.

Same shop is back. Same car, less weight, more aggressive tune. 10.97 @ 124mph with NO nitrous. Straight up N/A. (1.49 sec. 60 foot time!)

Wow. :scared: That trap speed is damn impressive for a stock internal normally aspirated 5.0 Mustang. For me it's intriguing to think what this motor will be capable of once more R&D is done, particularly when it comes to higher flowing heads and cams.

I would say it's mostly the tyres and suspension setup allowing those times, but impressive never the less.

Stock suspension as far as I know...

At the end of the video they mention a suspension setup as one of their optional performance upgrades, which I'm betting is also on this test car of theirs.

They mention that as one of the upgrades they sell, they don't specifically say it's on that car. The way that thing bounces when gears are changed, I'd say it has to be stock.

It's bouncing on the tires, not the suspension. The rear end of that thing is pretty darn stiff. I assume they've put on stiffer springs and dampers in the rear because the car makes so little power, that way they can transfer the weight quickly and still not spin the tires too much.

So my dad went to a Ford Dealership today and took a look at the Mustangs. He saw one V6 with an automatic and was in yellow and a convertible. He also took a red manual for a drive and a GT California Emissions model to a test drive (convertible). He loved it..and they were only 2008's.

That's a california special, it's just an appearance package. Has nothing to do with emissions, thank god

These new mustangs are freakin' amazing, I thought I saw a MT video of this and they actually dynoed the 5.0 at 425hp. I could be remembering incorrectly but if that's true Ford underrated it by a bit hehe.

435bhp!

My question is: Why does Ford keep advertising the V6 Mustang? I mean, if I'm going to get a Mustang, I'd rather get and ACTUAL Mustang before I got one with a V6. That sorta defeats the purpose of a muscle car, doesn't it? I mean, sure, the V6 gets 32mpg, but if you're thinking about mpg when you're buying a muscle car, you're buying one for the wrong reasons.

That said, 435Hp? Nice! Looks like the Camaro and Challenge will now have a friend. Can't wait to see how much the Boss will have. And at least the 2011 Mustang isn't virtually the same thing as the Camaro or Challenger. (seriously, compare the Challenger and Camaro, they're practically the same car)

Because the V6 is their volume leader and makes them the most money? And the V6 has the toughest competition?

And this is what it sounds like

don't forget to turn up the volume :D!

So....Girls are buying more Mustangs than anyone else? Makes since. I've known more women who've had a Mustang as a dream car than any thing else.

But. Really? the V6 has the most competition....huh. did not know that.

The V6 Mustang is also a really impressive Mustang but as many people here would find really ignorant: I can't see myself buying a six cylinder Mustang. If i'm going to buy a Mustang it'd have to be the 5.0 but that being said the V6 is awesome and I think it will do some damage against the competition.

Race'emhard: Video is not working.

Camaro V6, Genesis Coupe V6, G37 V6, etc. Plus, daddy isn't going to buy 430hp for his little girl.

Uh, the car says "Mustang" right on the car. That means it is ACTUALLY a MUSTANG. It doesn't say "Pinto" does it?

You're also forgetting the new V6 puts out the same power as the outgoing 4.6L V8.

The outgoing Mustang was more than a match for the Camaro beating it at evrerything minus 0.2 s to 60mph. And the Challenger couldn't hope to keep up with the Mustang.

I'm a woman? A Mustang is my dream car just as much as my Camaro was. Woman are not the only people buying them--V6 or otherwise. INFACT, l've seen more middle aged men buying the new V6 than any other demographic.

Camaro V6, Genesis Coupe V6, G37 V6, etc. Plus, daddy isn't going to buy 430hp for his little girl.

They do around here.
