Must be a stupid kid, doesn't he know they have flexy rulers these days?!:lol: But again, I like the front and side of the Coupe.:p I wish we got Mustangs in Australia, at least we're now going to get 300 or so Focus RS's (take that America :p). We'll be getting one at my dealership!:dopey: It sounds like every dealer in Australia will get just the one.:sly: Sorry for the OT-ness, just thought I'd throw that in.:sly:
 
We got an '02 Mustang very briefly, and since then the last probably was in the '60s. There are plenty of American imports in Australia too. There is a company that imports the Mustang and converts it to RHD for us pretty damn well, but as a result you're practically paying supercar money for an average Mustang.

They could make it even cheaper with a four-cylinder. Though I doubt a turbo-four would be significantly cheaper than a V6.

Imagine... a $19k Mustang with a 200 hp 2.5 liter naturally aspirated four. The indignity. :lol:

I always loved the thought of an Eco-Boost-four-powered F-150. With an aftermarket exhaust. :lol:

Funny you say that. It was on a TV show a few days ago. Mother's products has a TV show and in the last episode they traveled down under and interviewed the guy who converts cars to RHD.
 
So has anyone blown the brains out of the new engine yet? I'd like to see some forced induction. I read that the engines flows so much that you'd need crazy boost or something. Something about how it can't handle it because there is so much air that runs through the head.

Looks like all these people just posted videos on youtube over the past week or two lol. Wtf though, 550hp from just 6psi... the turbo doesn't even spool up!
 
I like how in their motor teardown, they keep talking about all the oil jets and channeled sleeves for oil flow and subsequently increased "Longetivity". Gotta love them rednecks.
 
I'm not sure about turbo, but Supercharging isn't that expensive. I was taking a look at the Ford Racing catalog and for $6 k you can get a kit which includes a racing air filter and the supercharger and some other thing. The only thing you need now is a long weekend to install it. Or, you can just give it to you mechanic. I was expecting more of around $8k for the supercharger only.
EDIT: I am on Vortech's site and they have them for $5K!

430hp...so in reality it could actually have zero power mods and that still be correct based on those early dyno runs of the 5.0 GT.

RE: @ Edit: Vortech's are Centrifugal SC's, they are cheapest in cost, and work great in newer Mustangs to really make them pull. Centri's make the most power higher in the RPM band. There's a guy running 11 on good days with just a non intercooled Vortech V2, catback, 4800 Torque Converter and 4.10 gears on the Mustang forum I'm on. Oh, and Drag radials
 
I've been waiting a long time to see this test, and now it's here it pretty much confirms what I half expected, the new 2010 Mustang GT is dead on level peggings with the M3, check it out:

 
Willow Springs has got to be the most head scratching track around when it comes to lap times. I'll wait until I see how the Mustang GT fairs somewhere else before I'm convinced it can actually run next to a M3.
 
I'd leave it to Car and Driver and have them run the duo at Grattan or VIR. Nevertheless, an impressive run for the Mustang, and taking into consideration the price difference, grab a BOSS and wipe the floor with the M3.

I'd like to see a comparison run between the 335ci and the Mustang V6 Pony Pack. That would be a very interesting race.

Presuming the GT isn't going to be as quick as a GT500 it doubt it can get near an M3 if this list holds any weight.

It better considering that they used a race car for a nearly a whole racing season to develop it.

In reality that's nonsense though. The Mustang which competes in Grand-Am shares very little with the production BOSS 302 in terms of development parts. For example, the Grand-Am 302R has $5k+ 3-way adjustable Racing Dynamic coilovers, while the street BOSS 302 doesn't even have coilovers, let alone 3-way adjustable variants with vastly superior track performance. I won't even bother going on about the ridiculous exhaust on the street car either...which is definitely a borrowed development from their race program (sarcasm) :lol:

It doesn't have to share any parts for it to have helped develop the 302. The video posted about the Boss 302 unveiling has the engineers & whoever, saying they used the Boss 302R to dial in on how to develop the 302 road car.

I thought the 2011 had a much lighter engine with the wustite-coated cylinders and all that.
