Ford SVT Lightning

It doesn't surprise me what Robin said above could have happened.
Let's face the facts. GT has never really given European and American cars a big advantage in numbers against the numbers of Japanese game. And it seem in GT1, though, they were almost equal with the Euros and Americans put together. However, after GT2, I feel the jump on European cars to Japanese cars grew extremely well.

IMO, I think the number of European cars to Japanese cars resulted in a bigger number of Europeans. I mean, there were 4 citys. 1 for some Japanese, 1 for America, 1 for most of the well known European manu. for us Americans, and then 1 for the European Manu. that were mostly Euro only. However, that number dropped greatly in GT3 with Japanese cars getting the GIANT advantage, and with now GT4, the Europeans and Americans still coming a bit short on them. Its a big number increase with Euro and American cars put together Vs. the Japanese cars which is good.

But what I'm trying to say is that since the game is Japanese based, and even though KY has the Ford GT, it shouldn't surprise you that to them, American trucks are sometimes shown as BIG 4WD monsters.

And come on, its not the first. Look at the GT3 and its areas. Also, the Mercedes in GT4 is a mistake as well.

Look, it doesn't surprise me that they can only get the exact info on Japanese cars instead Europe's and America's finest.

That Ford GT better be exact in ALL Specs. The damn guy owns one.

I'm curious about the Lighting's supercharger whine, also. Is it correct atleast?

Rumors around the SVT Camps is that the new Lighting (based on the '05 F-150, if it comes out) will not only come with a six speed manual, but also be a real two-door pickup (with a slight extension so it continues the F-150 base look) and have IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) from the Expedition, just revamped for the possible abuse, of course. It's also said to have very good performance numbers, and not just in a straight line, either.

As far as the supercharger whine, there was a Lightning vid floating around here a few days back and there is a slight amount of whine, but its nowhere near as nasty(read: good) as the real thing. From what I heard I believe they did in fact record the Lightning, however I'm guessing their recording techniques may have filtered out a lot of the blower whine. Hopefully a supercharger upgrade will amend this problem. :)

As for the next-gen Lightning, its completely cancelled. Ford number crunchers found out it was going to be cost ineffective to produce it, and thus all development stopped. The very earliest the Lightning will now be designed again is 2008(as stated by Ford), which would most likely put it on a revised platform of the current F-150. So don't expect another Lightning until about 2010(assuming Ford's financial outlook is better), if ever.
This really sucks, because the most recent numbers being whispered from the development team were upwards of 550 hp before the SuperCooler(google for this awesome innovation). Damn shame.... :indiff:

If you put the ride height of the ram or the tacoma to it's highest do they look slightly lifted?

Well, i know the SS Silverado in full trim is 4WD. The SSR should be RWD.

Aside from the Lightning screw-up, can anyone tell me if the Lightning in the game has the same nasty blower wine the real ones have? Im very curious.
James-

i know in "real life" the SILVERADO SS is AWD, but it shows its FR in GT4 !!!

SILVERADO SS

This is clearly an error which isn't great for some people but it's just gonna make the trucks faster in a straight line.. and that's pretty much all they are good for :P

Ram lifted - :D:tup:

Tacoma Lifted - 👎:ouch:

No lifting sport trucks...

Tacoma X-Runner* > Ram SRT-10

Right! Some crappy 1st-gen sport truck is gonna beat the fastest production truck on earth. Right.

You should pick up Sport Truck magazine then. They rated them based on how they liked them. Not everything is based on performance. Of course, I would take the SRT-10 over the X-Runner if I had the choice, but for half the price, the X-Runner is a great contender.

I suppose so.

So when is someone going to do a burnout and see if the Lightning is FR or not?

lol. i dunno. it seems as though all of the people that have the game are being bastardly and are playing it right now(I'd be doing the exact same thing). :)

Woah, there seems to be alot on confusion about what the SS Silverado Concept in GT4 is and what it is based on. The concept was out at the auto shows last year and basically it was a mule for the powertrain of the C6vette. Not the chassis just the LS2 (6.0 400 hp) rear transaxle 6 speed and independant rear end. It was a really cool truck but everyone knew that wasn't going to make production.

The current SS Silverado that did not make it into the game is a big dissapointment at best. It has the 380 hp Motor shared with the Escalade (Gen III based but not as performance oriented) 4 door and AWD. So it's heavier, slower, and less responsive than the one in the game.

I feel it is a big shame that they don't have the SRT-10 Ram in the game but then again I feel it's a shame that it doesn't have the GMC Syclone, Typhoon, 96 Impala SS, 300C SRT-8, etc etc.

-oh the next F-150 Lightning has been put on hold at least until 2008 but we will see a regular cab Silverado SS and a SS Trailblazer both powered by the LS2

This makes me wonder if the Aussie Monaro has 4WD in the game instead of its correct RWD. Meh lets face it when you have a car game made by japanese your always going to get a bias towards only Japanese cars. Sad but true.

the Mini Cooper S only have 5 gear instead of 6
Nope. The standard Cooper has a 5-speed, but the Cooper S does indeed have a 6-speed.
MrktMkr1986
Acutally, the concept version (the one in the game) is indeed rear-wheel drive. The final production version is all-wheel drive.
Correct. The SS Concept thats in the game is basically a C5 Vette under the truck body. Its RWD, fully independent suspension, and 6-speed manual. The production SS is AWD, has a 4-speed auto, and a solid axle rear.

Actually, the SS Concept used a bored out LS1, not an LS2. It was a bored out C5 LS1 5.7 taken to 6.6L and mated to a C5's T56 trans. The real "test mule" for the C6 was the Caddy XLR. Its basically full C6 chassis with a Northstar engine and trans. The truck was a toy, the XLR was the test mule.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just not as picky about certain things about cars and trucks. I don't think it will be surely as bad. I'll play the game as it is even if 0.01% of a certain car's capabilities and/or features are incorrect on the real life car aren't exact. Hell, doesn't matter if a stock 76hp Mini Cooper could beat a Dodge Viper's acceleration by 3 seconds, I just want to play the game for myself and enjoy regardless.

hmm, well the only way I can see this happening is if the Mini Cooper has a wicked shogun-style aero kit that will produce 1786412789346 lbs of downforce and give the mini cooper about 700 hp, and also lots of tuner stickers and NAAAAAAWWWWWSSSSSSS! Then it will r0xor to teh maxxx and the g@y Vip3r will be teh pwn3d. But I guess at that point I'd be playing Need for Speed Underground: 2, now wouldn't I....

God I hate ricers and L337-speak. Sorry, JohnBM01, this has nothing to do with your post at all, I'm just very tired, as must find sleep. I go now. :odd:

About the Audi TT only being FF in my game - I originally had basically a "launch disk" of GT3, one of the first editions from the original American launch. So Jedi, maybe they changed it in newer copies. I trust you that yours is AWD, trust me that mine was FF, as I could do reverse doughnuts in it like there was no tomorrow. It was definately FF. It would sit and spin the front wheels all day long with sims on it while the rears just coasted along at 3 mph. Someone said adding a VCD would make it AWD, which i can't test as i no longer have that original version of the game. I now have one that is only a couple months old. I'll check out the TT again, and I expect it to be AWD. Maybe this is a good sign that PD can correct these mistakes when they are brought to their attention.

The Audi TT was definitely still FF in the PAL version of GT3 and still FF as a hidden car in GTC02.
Those who claim that it is a 4WD have a good imagination and phantasize the missing properties with their cars theirselves. Easy for Kaz!

Just as the weight of the Lister Storm is way too high in GT3, and is probably still too high in GT4.

Sad but true : untill now Polyphony has never changed a wrong car specification in their database 👎

I bought GT3 the day it came out so I figured I would test out the TT, and I’m not really sure what to say. I set the ASM and TCS both to 0. Brake balance at the stock level 9/level 9, with racing super soft tires. First I tested it stock (no VCD). If you powerbrake then let off the brakes just enough for the car to start moving then get right back on the brakes as much as you can without it stopping, the back wheels will not turn they will just drag as the car moves. If you push against a wall the front wheels will spin fast and smoke while the back wheels will spin VERY slowly (about 1 mph). If you powerbrake the car then let off the brakes to take off, it spins just like a FF would. After installing the VCD all problems go away and the car is now a true AWD car. I can’t decide if it is a FF or AWD stock, but if its AWD then I would say that 95-99% of the power is going to the front.

Alot of cars are not true 50/50 cars. The TT wouldnt be as high as 90-10, but its up there.

Yeah, thats true, my truck is 35% front / 65% rear.

Back on topic, you could just use the VCD to set the lightning to 100% rear, you still could'nt get into FR only races but it should handle right that way.

Well the audi TT's clutch defaults to FWD on the Quattro in the absence of wheel slippage. Chances are the AWD system that seems to be predominently FWD just wasnt translated well into the game.

... riiiiight u guy's should really get over this stupid over glorified ugly hunk of sheet metal that really should get off the road ... like WTF american car's are ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS!!! spare a few but seriously u sad mutha ****ers! i honestly couldn't give.. just my opinion but im sure alot of people will agree with me that truck is pathetic... an australian ute... try one of them in gt4! be much better enjoyed than that pos by me!

Like said before, the 2003 model looks like the 2000 model which was 4WD. Isn't it possible that instead of making a huge screwup PD just made a typo concerning the building year?
