Ah, good point. But of course cars back then all seemed to have similar trends going. I suppose it's just the way the industry works, eh? Somebody comes up with something that sells or evokes some sort of emotion well, and all the others try to emulate it. That's been the case with BMW's flame design language; everyone else now has swoopy wavies and sharp creases and cut lines.Thats actually a pretty recent phenomenon. Go back ten years and you dont see that very much, go back 2030 years and you dont really see it at all.
JalopnikThese exclusive first shots of a SHO-badged dashboard in testing outside an unknown location are the first piece of evidence portending the reawakening of the Ford Taurus SHO with the 2010 Ford Taurus.
We don't have any details besides these shots of a dashboard emblazoned with a SHO trim level moniker. It's safe to guess the new "Super High Output" Taurus will have the same flavor of Ford's wicked Ecoboost technology as that found in its platform-mate, the Lincoln MKS AWD, which would mean the same rumored 350 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque.
With the new 2010 Ford Taurus looking as dapper as ever, the return of its hot-rodded performance variant can only be good news. No one at Ford has yet confirmed the existence of a 2010 Ford Taurus SHO, or a 2011 SHO, but these pictures don't leave much to the imagination. A look at these exclusive photos here on Jalopnik show the SHO badge emblazoning a SYNC-enabled Taurus prototype dash. Compared to the regular Taurus seen in these interior spy shots, the dash appears to have a carbon fiber-esque look to it around the gauge cluster and above the airbag.
Don't expect it to arrive at January's Detroit Auto Show, where the non-SHO model will debut. Instead, the Chicago Auto Show or New York Auto Show seem like a safer bet.
*stuff about SHO needing a stick*
now, if Ford gets the brains to bring back the SVO Mustang, and bring over the Focus RS.. then we will have something going right!👍 Randy
This is innovation? Looks like a lump. They changed from the old bland styling and "finally" adapted a new bland styling.![]()
I'm still waiting for someone to come out with a new car that doesn't have wedge-butt. I think we'd see a lot of people flocking to a car if its company humored me by offering a parallel main line.
The original and second generation SHO had manual transmissions available. The last generation, the Jelly Bean, the one with the greatest engine of them all, did not, however, and that reflects all the mistakes that marked the beginning of the end of the Taurus. They would sell about 5.
I can has Yamaha heads?
I can't wait to see this.....The return of the SHO.... 👍👍 Awesome... now, if Ford gets the brains to bring back the SVO Mustang, and bring over the Focus RS.. then we will have something going right!

Somebody say Malibu SS?...Volvo will sell you some... They still use that engine in the XC90 and S80, right?
Actually, I think the choice to (presumably) go with a twin-turbocharged V6 is a good one for this SHO. It'll be interesting to see what the other companies will come up with if they manage to sell a bunch. Kinda makes you hope GM comes up with a forced-induction system for the new 3.0L V6 or for the current hi-po 3.6L unit.
Somebody say Malibu SS?...
EDIT: I just realized there are now two very active threads in here about two very cool Ford cars. Awesome.
HOLY EFFING EPIC!
... I'm blown away.
