Words for this will probably escape all of us since pretty much no one cares.

RAM claims they have best in class towing and Ford responds by saying their F-450, which isn't in the same class as the RAM 3500, can tow more? That makes a lot of sense.

Stay classy, Ford.

Yeah but if you take into consideration the build of the RAM it's not a class 3 truck and really hasn't been for some time though Dodge puts it in that class on purpose. I agree with the comments I saw that both towing rates are amazing. These trucks are either for businesses or older types wanting massive expensive trucks to haul their fifth wheels around so at the end of the day who cares? It doesn't make sense at all for this fight to go on but...it does.

I think both sides are in the wrong for different reasons.

Buyers of such vehicles tend to be that way.

Really? Tell me then, you have a load of cattle you need to bring to market, horses to bring to a show, a competition truck to bring to a pull, a 30ft. camper to go on vacation in, how do you tow that without a truck?

To the ignorant a truck may be about penis size, but to those of us who actually use and need our trucks the size of our penis has nothing to do with our decision on what truck to buy. I find it very funny when some members get upset when other members stereotype things they enjoy, yet some of these same members will then go out and stereotype things they have no understanding of. Not directed at you, Azure Flare, just a general observation.

My beef with people who buy a truck that size is not with those who actually use it for work, my problem is those who are actually trying to compensate for the lack of physical assets.

And you know these people are trying to compensate how, exactly? Who cares if a dude who never needs a truck to work buys a truck? It is his money and he should be able to enjoy it however he pleases. Just because you don't like trucks doesn't mean anyone who does, but doesn't genuinely need one, has a small penis.

Of course if you see someone in a truck and immediately start thinking of his dangly bits I'd say that is more your problem than his.

*ugh*

A lot of people think that, so it's not just me.

And yes, dangly bits are at the forefront of my mind on a daily basis in case you didn't know that.

The best part being that the F-450 may not actually tow more, since Dodge switched to the new objective industry standard for tow capability and is claiming the Ram's ability based on that and Ford is the only manufacturer that has still refused to switch away from the internal measuring systems.

And yet all the bitches on this side of the pond love big ass trucks and the guys that drive them, so I don't see the problem :D

Not all of them, just the ones that are easily impressed. The city I live near(finally moved outside city limits)is a crossroads of smaller trucks worked WAAAAY beyond standard operation, and massive trucks with lift kits in feet and knobby tires that only see dirt when the roads haven't been doused in a while. It's not too much, until the tools that 9 times out of 10 drive them, decide they are holier than thou and can drive a block the wrong way on a one way road, jump three curbs and any foliage, then double/triple/quad-park because reasons....what was the subject?

He-said, he-said argument, over numbers that have been fudged in the literature for eons, and now someone want to claim truth? If I were the judge when this case comes up, and it probably will, I'd jump down their throats for taking up valuable time and resources that could have gone elsewhere for their petty BS, then slap them with a $500 K fine for wasting said resources.

Is that a bit extreme?

Fighting gross exaggerations with gross exaggerations. Brilliant.

Since RAM is using the newer industry standard, and isn't stripping it's truck out to the extent Ford does to hit it's numbers, I don't see what the issue is.

Honestly, almost all of the people you see with an F-350 for work use. Many of the guys who get an F-250 use them for work as well. I know a guy who uses his F-250 as commute almost daily. He probably looks like he's compensating to most people, but the fact is that he needs that truck to haul his off-roader up to Tahoe and his race gear to tracks. He just also happens to use the truck as commute.

The real compensating guys are the ones in F-150's with all kinds of chrome and Tapout crap all over them. We're discussing the F-350 class of trucks here, so the penis stereotyping ignoramuses can buzz off and die.

You get on White & Nerdy all the time for posting completely ignorant things about cars, and trust me, there are plenty of people who think the same way he does. Why do you get on him for posting in that manner if you're going to turn around and do the same thing?

This kind of chicanery is nothing new... and really only matters to 0.05% of the market.

Well, it only matters in a practical sense to that 0.05%, but the bragging rights matter in terms of the halo effect for the entire truck line.

Doesn't matter to us out here where farms and roads are smaller, and where dedicated cargo trucks are used for the kind of work big boys like the F450 do.

The practicality of the V10 dual cab dually is as alien to the rest of the world as a five seat Ferrari-powered bulldozer with satellite radio and leather seats.

Different strokes for different folks, though. Every time talk turns to the Mirage on our other boards, it's a solid wall of "THAT'S TOO SMALL FOR THE HIGHWAY!!! I WOULD DIE!!! WAH!" from the American contingent. :D

I claimed a land rover is more useful than an American truck. Are we going to begin dick waving?
You're a moron.

Do you even know what a bro truck is?

Again with the more useful thing. I would love to see a Land Rover get packed full of stuff, and then pull 40,000 lbs behind it UP A HILL with what, 150hp?

Yeah, ok.

There has been 33 million Ford F-Series trucks sold worldwide. Is there really 33 million people who use their truck to tow more than 3.5 tons daily. The most likely answer is no. I can totally understand if you were towing large trailers daily but most aren't. Peobryant how often do you tow very heavy trailers?

You realize that number is being calculated over 70 years of truck sales right? They don't last forever, parts wear out, engines get tired, people buy new ones...just like any other vehicle.

I'm not even going to try and reason with you because it goes in one ear and right out the other.
