Formual GT World Championship Seasonal

This.

Braking while turning in this thing usually means spin city. I found that easing on the brakes helps a lot too. Overall, I enjoyed these events. I have not had that pulse-pounding feeling since I did the A-Spec FGT event!

Hmmm - I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it's going to be difficult with the DS3 controller, since "easing on the brakes" is not particularly easy to do. Can't wait to try it with the cockpit view though. 👍

Bro, you will be fine. I have just done it in both my accounts using a DS3 and you just take it easy. Best championship ever. Enjoy driving the FGT

I completed the FGT events with gold using the tune provided by Hami with a stock car running on RH tires. I thought this was a fun event, a real challenge but not as frustrating and difficult as the Expert Seasonal or the TGTT AMG. I managed gold on them also but with many more hours invested.

To get gold in this event you need to beat 14:00, getting around the 24hr Ring in 7:00 minutes back to back requires fast and precise driving.

After spec 2, FGT seems to oversteer a lot more than I remember. The steering sensitivity also seems a lot higher tho the cockpit view is great. Was able to gold FGT championship not long ago on first attempt (with aids on). But today I tried FGT on the ring, I am eating grass like a cow. That's with sfr on, racing soft, abs, tc 1 and asm on!! No time to test further but something seems amiss. anyone got the same difficulty?

I too really struggled with the N/ring. Car just didnt seem to respond the way it used to. Dunno what is up with it. I had to reduce the suspension stiffness to do this course, it seemed bumpier than usual too. try setting front camber to -3.8, rear to -3.2, front toe to -.50 and rear toe to 0.10. Worked for me without having to change my diff' settings.

I've got 2 FGT's setup differently for a) high speed tracks like Indy, Daytona and HSR, and b) another for road courses.
Each excels at the tracks they were tuned for. My driving skills need honing for sure, but the cars are able to get the job done handily. I'll post setups after work today and maybe some of you having problems will have a bit of luck with them.

Looking forward to seeing your Road Tune, the Nurb pissed me off, the rest was pretty easy....Cheers

Funny how many of you 'touch' the cars. I race with them just as "they" are and to me works just perfect with my G27.
I know you can make it better with some things but i come here and see the problems that many of you have and i can´t believe it.
Just use the cars as they were made first and then if you can´t make it 'run' better just touch or set the things that you feel bad. (mostly suspension and gearbox)
The only track in this FGT Championship that i had a problem (because i´m not used to a new track of course) was Eifel, the last one. But i made some training laps (4 laps) to see the turns and places when i can go faster than the AI (the 1st to the 3rd curve mostly) and then made the race and with the standard setting of a new FGT (only with soft) i got gold.
To me Nurburgring is the best circuit of all and i play there more than any other on many different simulators on PC and i know it as my hands, and to me was pretty easy actually.I feel better all the cars on the game now.
Less setup's and more practice people is all that you need to be good.
Now i am resting from the 9hs race at Tsukuba (7hs left).
My wheel settings are: simulation and force feedback to 5 (from the option menu) and then i play only with ABS 1 and the rest in OFF and REAL for the feel always.
I am an average player don't take me wrong.

As promised, here are the two settings for my two FGT's. First is the high speed one.

As I mentioned in my previous post these two cars have what it takes to take on pretty much every track in the game apart from dirt and ice, but the better driver you are the more you can get out of them. The settings do work though.

Put your brakes to 4-1, 5-3 or 7-5 depending on preference and you can brake and turn in no problem. Braking in a straight line IS good practice in these cars though.

If I didn´t misread this , you used Racing Softs on the FGT.

Now I ask you:

Is the FGT with Racing Softs as it is?

raise the IT and Brake sensitivititties my friends, and enjoy the FGT forever more.

I haven't tried these events yet, but those of who find them easy, you are not using Racing Soft tires and assists, are you?

I use L2 for braking. I found that I often lost time going from up to down when I played with the default controller settings.

I've never tried adjusting the brakes on the FGT but I'll give this a shot, thanks :)

No problem, if anyone wants tuning advice on the FGT from the current FGTC champion let me know, I cant actually post my tunes as my FGTC opponents will get their greasy hands on them :)

They are sadly very easy. I'm by no means a top driver, but I did it first try on a completely stock FGT w/ racing hards, TCS and ABS at 0. It seems to not lock up the brakes so easy any more after 2.0 except at very low speeds. Must be the downforce... I made a ton of mistakes and still won. I was hoping for a tough seasonal but oh well, nice to use the FGT again.

Limit your engine to make the PP the same as the AI and let me know if you still think these are easy?

Even on RH and running at same PP they are easy unfortunatley. Shame.

Yup race hards and no aids. Believe it or not the car rolls better without skid force. That slows you down in the corners to regain control.

I've been using the same setup from Jorday used for the A-Spec championship, and still find the setup works. I'm using RS tires, with TC at 3.

First lap: 6:31. Passed the first-place car just before Kallenhard. Clean lap (no contact with the AI cars, in spite of their retarded driving styles), but I didn't push the car to the max.

Second lap: 6:23. Clean lap until the end of the long straight, when I ate a bit of grass under braking:crazy:

The car definitely has some oversteer on the exit, but I'm just careful on the gas (I use a DFGT wheel) when exiting the turns. I'm also very careful about going on the curbs on the Nordschieffe portion of the course, as they're not very forgiving.

I've been logging on every day since the Spec 2.0 update, so I'm still getting double points/XP. Glad I did all my car-shopping on the OCD before the prices doubled!:)

Edit: here's the link to the setup I've been using:

The engine detuner goes all the way down to 50%, doesn't it? So boo hoo if it's not challenging enough for you yet.

The fact is that there are vastly different levels of skill amongst GT5 drivers. What is easy for some is hard for others.

The SMG TGTT Seasonal is the best example because it was a real test of skill and everyone was driving exactly the same car and set up. I struggled to gold and finally managed it with a time of 1:17.88. I ranked 957 in North America. There are 100,000's of players in NA and less than a 1000 got gold. I'm a pretty good driver based on this rank, yet there were people putting up 1:14.xxx. I can't even imagine how to drive that fast with that car on that track.

Drivers who can put up 1:14.xxx thought it was easy to make gold and would find it easy to gold any of these events. I think it is unfortunate that better drivers post how "easy" something is and in effect discourage other drivers.

It takes plenty of skill to drive the FGT for two laps 24hr Ring in less than 14:00 minutes to get gold and therefore is not easy.

Yeah, I'm going to detune my engine (or add ballast, perhaps) to equalize things a bit tonight when I get home from work. I just love driving this car on the full Nurburgring. Still quite a challenge to do a clean lap with the FGT:)

Once the DLC goes live next week, I'm hoping they add Spa to this Seasonal Event. Want to see if I can drive the FGT (or Ferrari F10) through Eau Rouge flat out.

Can't wait for spa.

Pretty much all the good drivers are offering advice. No reason for anyone to get discouraged. Just press on to get better. I am by no means in the fastest group. I concider myself just above average. And yes all different levels here. My final in the TGTT is 161. But that doesn't mean much.
Just be smooth and don't enter corners to fast.

One the lads in my championship got a 6.07 round NB24hr with his FGT, I was a lot weaker with a 6.19 but it shows the value of practice over tuning as he only changes his ride height for each track.
Spa willl be awesome 👍

I just golded it after a few tries and noticed my first lap was a 7:00 but the second was over 14 seocnds slower! I think I must've backed off once I got first!

Love the cockpit view!!! Its a bit bumpy, but great visibility. Seems to have a bit more understeer.(Only helps in this car) It seems to respond a bit better to tune changes since 2.0 also. Aced HSR and GV with TCS 5(probably hurt more than helped), ABS 1. I have always sucked in this car, even though I love to drive it. Maybe now I will have the guts to try the FGT championship.

Your TCS 5 would have definately slowed you down some but whatever works for you.
Not sure if you meant A spec championship or mine. Here is the link for you to check out if you like. We have a few reserve spots and 2 regular spots open :)

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=209079

The a spec is fun but easy, the FGTC much more of a challenge but we have a great crowd and the mighty FGT is our favourite ride 👍

I haven't used the FGT before this Seasonal, and I made no change other than gearbox settings so it doesn't bounce off the limiter. I'm using an old DFP wheel, ABS=1.

Yes the HSR was easy with a much higher top speed than the AI, but I haven't finished GV yet as I kept spinning on lap 3 or 4 (usually on the left-hander into the first tunnel) and then restarting because I'm 12th again:dunce:

I'm not used to driving fast high downforce cars so this is a real challenge for me. If I can't control my boot, I might have to introduce a bit of TCS and maybe apply some suspension tuning if I still can't get it.

I do enjoy it though, especially with the cockpit view.👍

HSR and grand valley where "piece of cake"...will try the NS24h today...with pad the gt on that track is not soo easy to handle...

The race on the Ring got my heart racing. Really was a frustrating one. In the end, I got 4th and was sweating like hell.

another tip, if your high HP cars such as the FGT are oversteering on twisty tracks such as the Nür , try Lowering the Front downforce , don't max it!!

Maxing this is like stepping on a fly's wing, and watch him buzz around in one spot.

a Safe lap, with minimal aggression, easing into troublesome curves, throttle modulation, will yield lap times of
6:45-6:55 very easily. You can catch 1st early in the 2nd lap.
