Formula 1 2005

I just got F1 '05 yesterday and i have to say i really like it. I have got F1 '04 and i think F1 '05 is a real step up from F1 '04.
I am in a World Championship with Webber and have won Australia and Malaysia with 100% race distance and on hard.

Been playing around with set-ups, think I found a base set-up that works at Imola, lap time 1:15.660. I'm using this as a base for other tracks and I will post more when I have time. All driving aids turned off.

I got this yesterday, I have to say it is a huge step up from F104 in terms of .... well, everything. The AI is better (doesn't run into you all the time), the spin physics are better, the flag system is better etc. etc. Very good 👍

I should buy this game but i have other things sucking money out of me *cough girlfriend cough*

How much did you pay Blake? I think i saw it for $79.95

news from my career:

i won Turkey and Monza, easily. BUT, i accepted offer from Renault as testdriver and i thought that i will be driver for Sauber and testdriver for Renault, but it wasnt that. I was just test-driver then :( so i could just hope that noone will get more pts than me (111 pts). Nah, Kimi and Michael got more points :( so i lost the championship . Now i am really sad, and i dont want be in Renault anymore. At least i get some payout :) . I get offer from McLaren as first driver :D so why not. Now its begin of season 2 and i am going rule the pole.

Looks as if I'm forced to buy this game now. My GT4 got corrupted, again, and I think it was onliny because I plugged the controller in during the intro movie. :( Can anybody tell me if F105 is Driving Force Pro 900 degree compatible?

As far as I can tell, no. Configuration on the options screen is very limited, and the game defaults to 180 degrees on start up.

marek, are you on easy difficulty, i cant see how you got 111 points in season 1 when you have no choice but to start at minardi jordan or red bull as a test driver, specially as now you have to do loads of tests, im on hard, its at the hungarian GP and im only testing for toyota after testing for jordan..,

Oh well, I guess I'll buy it, even hough its not 900 degree compatible, beats doing nothing. Thanks for the help. :)

I've only done Australia, Malaysia and Bahrain and I won the first two races with Jordan (retired at Bahrain) ... you must have done pretty badly on the trails to be testing for Jordan ... I screwed up the Red Bull trail (they were only offering a test position) but nailed the Jordan one, so I got second driver. After winning Aussie I got promoted to first driver.

I really wish the AI used two stop strategies. Three stops makes it really easy to blow them away on a two stopper.

.no i am on hard, with all d.aids off. its just too easy for me :(

oh and maybe i got position as second driver in Jordan coz i passed their test by 3 seconds.

and i need to agree with Blake. That pitstop strategies just suck :( . I started last in Monza (due to ACCIDENTLY :P shortcuting first chicane) but because i used 1-stop strategy i won by 30 seconds.

as can see uve been playing this for a while im wondering if there is any commentry on career mode. i dont knoww if there is any or if it just aint working

Has anybody with a North American PS2 actually tried to play F1 2005 on thier PS2? Cuz i JUST purchased it from e bay and i bought my PS2 in USA. Please let me know if the game will work on my PS2. (Hopefully some body with a N.A. PS2 and who has actually tried it.) THanx

..more set-ups and lap times have just been added.
set-ups 👍

TheRenowned, your eBay purchased F1'05 will not work on your North American PS2...UNLESS the game is NTSC encrypted...which I highly doubt it is considoring SONY is making this game for Euro/Asian consoles only...I live in Canada and I am in the same boat as you. Find out the details of the copy you just purchased. And do not open it if you plan to send it back (if it is not NTSC ofcourse). Let me know what happens....

this game is much better than the sucky f104 game. i've played the career in hard mode on a jordan car and used the same car all the way. never did any setup to the car, just the default setting and it ran better. i lost and only got 10th on the aussie grand prix but after that i won all grand prix on full length races up to hockenheim then my 6 month old ps2 died after playing full length grand prix one after another. sad. played the game with the old logitech formula force wheel because the DFP is just damn too hard on the arms to be used on full length races, you wouldnt last 2 hours. i tried 2 consecutive races with the DFP and i was drenched in sweat, dead tired, and lost five pounds afterwards. it was a great experience while it lasted. now let's spend a moment in silence to honor a ps2 that served me well, on its way to ps2 heaven. thanks for the memories.

Okay, I'll be setting up my PS2 for online play soonish, so if anybody else who plays F105 sees me on here, PM me, or contact me on MSN and ask if they want some friendly, or non-friendly racing. :)

I would buy this game but sony think they won't sell a lot in N-A... :dunce: they would sell more than they think. I wish I would live in europe so I could watch other races beside f1 and play f105... :guilty: :nervous:

How is F1 '05 going everyone?
I answer to your question, it’s going very well in fact it’s a blinding game a ‘must have’ in my opinion much better than F1 2004 in many respects. The A1 is much better they will move out of the way when you are lapping them, engine blow ups leave oil over the track and yes you will spin if you encounter the spill on a corner. On the straight your traction control will go mad while trying to cope with the spill.
Inter active pit stops, Engine and motion blur which I really like, if you ever been in a kart full tilt you will get the same blur effect as in the game and slowing down for the corners your eyesight recovers enough just to make out your chosen braking point.
Weather is very well done with rain on one side of the circuit and dry on the other making pit strategy very interesting. Don’t ask about music as always turn it off in every game before I start, Engine sound is awesome and each car has its own individual scream!
I have updated my web site with lap times and set-ups, so if you want to mail me with your fastest lap and set-ups your are welcome and I will post them up.
Some set-ups are just the base setting for now using Red Bull car with faster lap using the Mclaren Mercedes

It has enough in the game to keep me happy until it arrives on the PS3.

Hi guys, I've just signed up to this Forum and hope you can offer me some assistance. I've had F1 '05 since release down here in Sydney, and seemed to find the Easy level too easy! I've read all your comments above and can't believe some of you have won races on Hard level. I'm on Medium...and I'm still about 4 seconds off the pace after just one lap!! Please please...help me!! I read with anticipation the Set Ups link above, offered by Domejuddv10 for the Mercs, but I was hoping to race as Jenson Button in a BAR. Is it possible to find Set Ups for other cars (in my case, BAR), and failing that, what the hell am I doing wrong to lose so much time over just one lap? And yes, I always qualify last! (I'm in race weekend mode, by the way). I must have driven the Istanbul circuit a thousand times (in readiness for the next race!) and I've tried a thousand different set ups, but I can't even catch the Minardi's!!

Thanks all...

Hmm, can't really help you there. Just keep practicing I guess.

So, who else uses the interactive pitstops? I do, its pretty fun trying to get fast pit stops. My best is 4 seconds flat, can anybody beat that, or even match it?

Ummm, that's pretty bad, 2.7 is my average. I can get under 2 seconds with ~15 laps of fuel.

The Mec set-up will load for the Bar Honda, I haven't got a fix it answer for you but a few tips. First load up my settings (not to everyone's taste) go out and just drive round slowly at first and pick up speed after a lap our so, while braking for corners I tend to lightly apply the brakes and let the gearbox change down and if I need more brakes I have more to play with. You could obviously stamp on the brakes at the last second but that just locks everything up and you won’t carry the speed though the corners, if you do arrive at the corner to fast all locked up let the brakes off and you will be surprised how the car will turn in and make the corner. Be smooth take the racing line, sometimes not the black racing line on the track and don’t over drive the car.

My friend has an annoying habit of letting his thumb off the steering toggle as he drives round, this unsettles the car, i think it’s a throw back from using the steering buttons, all you hear is the toggle twanging as he drives, my point is be smooth and practice. Look for braking points on the circuit edge and stick to them, sometimes brake boards our a shadow or the first bit of rumble strip that appears just before the corner.

Ok, well thanks for the advice. I've played other racing games so I certainly know about finding the right racing line thru a bend, or a reasonably good braking spot, so I guess if I"m not doing anything else wrong, I'll just practice. One interesting point though...when I'm on a straight, and I look in the rearview mirror, even the Jordans and Minardis which are miles behind me, catch up with me and fly past. I have my pedal right down to the floor (Logitech Drving Force Pro wheel) and yet I cannot go any faster. This really annoys me, as it's a case of "well how much faster can I go on the straight with my pedal right down??!!" And this was using your suggested Set Up - which did improve my time, by the way - thanks for that.
And also at the start, when the red lights go out, I accelarate as fast as I can, yet the other 19 cars just dissapear into the distance before I've even done 30 metres! What's going on there?
