He‘s obviously a good and talented driver but to me he comes off as arrogant and bratty on the one hand but also really whiny and effeminate on the other. Like a typical rich kid. I‘ve met quite a few guys like him during my university studies so maybe I‘m just projecting that onto him. I just can‘t stand „men“ like that.
The irony in saying this as a Max fan who is super arrogant & whiny.

Enjoy your crow.
He‘s always been weak mentally.

Car #4 finally produces a World Champion!

(Since the practice of running the same race numbers throughout the season was introduced in 1974)

Seems like more of a you thing than a Lando thing.

I don‘t think Max Verstappen is arrogant at all and he is certainly not whiny. He just has a win at all costs mentality which is the reason why he‘s won four world titles.

But like I said before, Lando did a solid job and earned the title. I can respect that despite me not liking him.

Arrogant and bratty describes a lot of F1 drivers over the years, you might need to narrow it down. Or get over it, upto you really.

Edit: and Max fits into the arrogant and whiny camp.

I see people calling Lando arrogant all the time and I don’t get it?

I think he’s super humble and VERY critical of himself - almost to a fault.

I actually think he could use a bit more self esteem.

Spain 2025 says hi.

Like, I'm not gonna give you flack specifically for being a Max fan, but if you have a favorite driver and/or are going up to bat for them, you gotta own their weaker moments, too.

Firstly, find me an F1 driver who isn't arrogant and doesn't have a background of rich parents, especially in the current generation of drivers.

The rest of the comment, well, there's a certain type of „men“ I really don't like as well.

I'm happy for Lando, I was backing Oscar, but Oscar simply didn't do enough in the final third or so of the season. Massive credit to Verstappen, he simply shouldn't have been in this fight at the final race but he dragged his car and team kicking and screaming into contention, and I believe ends the season with the most race wins? Simply incredible.

But Lando, he had enough, he did everything he needed to do to get this title, overcame some huge lows as well on the way, overturned what was still a massive deficit to Oscar (biggest points overhaul to win the championship?) and in the dying stages of this championship, never looked like he was going to lose it on his own.

Great result for me as a lifetime mclaren fan.

More of a fan of Lando than Oscar for some reason too so the best result i could wish for really.

From a totally neutral motorsport view why is Abu Dhabi the final race of the season. Pole position always wins the race, the races are never exciting and it never rains. Bring Brazil or Japan back as the final races!

You've had plenty of responses to this, so I won't dive into those. I was just wondering if you know that most closests open quite nicely from the inside, as they do from the outside. Just step out of it and get it over with.

I must apologize for this reaction and take it back. Sorry to suggest something like this and I feel now that this may be inappropriate to you or others.

Was rooting for Lando (and Oscar equally too, although his chances had seemed a long shot going into the race unless Lando had problems) before the race, so I am pleased with how both championships have gone :) No grudge against Max (or at least his talent and conviction), I just wanted to see somebody end his iron-clad grip on the championships generated with this generation of cars. Hoping that Piastri will eventually win the championship, with McLaren or another team, someday, and I extend this hope to Carlos, Russell, Leclerc, and Gasly (especially the former). Heck, I wish that Alonso and Lewis will win it again, but that seems pretty greedy of me :D Should be content with both McLarens passing the post-race "scrutineering" for the time being. No idea why Zak & Stella didn't invite Oscar for their selfie with Lando after the race though.

Bring on 2026!

(BTW, did anybody else's heart skip a beat every time they were broadcasting Stroll's onboard cam mid-race? :p)

I’d also like to thank Austria’s Servus for their excellent and easily accessible coverage today.

Delighted with the outcome today, and massive congrats to Lando and McLaren - and respect to Max and Oscar for a very well fought season... one of the best ever IMO.

I must admit that some of the McLaren strategy had me a bit perplexed at times, esp. the chat near the end regarding soft tires for Lando, but all's well that ends well.

Might even entertain the idea of Sky Sports subscription for next season now..

The soft tire thing was just in case the 2021 scenario repeated itself, aka they asked Lando if he would pit for softs if the safety car was to be deployed.

If only Red Bull ran a 2 car team, they might’ve been able to take 4th today and the title themselves instead of relying on others
Let's say we have it back like with Daniel Ricciardo on Max Verstappens side from the driving level, that would also mean the second driver would take points off of Ver from time to time and todays points scenario would've been different.

Beside McLarens mistakes this year Nor and Pia also took many points out of each others championship and kept Max closer to be in todays position.

Lando World Champion....Let's Goooo!

Well done to Lando and McLaren. He really deserve it for sticking with the team for so long trough really hard time and keep his faith.

The race was good. Fair and square fight no BS strategy or tactic except for Tsunoda but that was to be expected.

Congrats to Lando for his first title win. That race though...kind of a snooze fest for me, I can't lie.

Here's to 2026 and seeing Checo and Bottas back in the swing of things!

Lewis finished 6th in the standings, ahead of Kimi. One better than his final season at Mercedes.

Both Williams drivers in the top 10.

Kimi comfortably won the rookie title, ahead of Fernando, Isack and Oli. The latter two beat their more experienced teammates.

RB beat AM for 6th in the constructors.

Farewell to Yuki, the Alpine engine and the Sauber name.

I'm looking forward to the **** show next year. I will not miss these cars or the cheesy DRS system.
I must've been living under a rock or something as I only found out today during the race that DRS is no more for next year.

As much as it was fake racing to a degree it did allow the faster cars through on some races which made them better races overall.

I wonder if I will miss it or not next season.

You'll love the Override-Mode when you thought DRS was cheesy. I have my doubts when the following car <1s will suddenly have up to around 200 kW/270 hp more (750 hp vs 480 hp at 345 km/h) to really have better or more natural overtakes.

Technical DRS is also not gone, it will just be available to any driver at anytime if he is brave enough. Will be used on both wings in 2026 and not just for the <1s following driver as overtaking aid.
But my little assumption is that the driver in front and in clean air will probably be able to open the wings earlier on corner exits or even in fast corners while the follower struggles in dirty air with understeer and will be in disadvantage.

But we'll see how this "don't call it DRS anymore even if it's still a drag reduction system" and "don't call it Push-to-Pass even if you have to push the button to have more and longer power to pass your opponent <1s ahead but we at FIA love naming things clumsy like Override-Mode" works out. I'm totally in for 2026 :D

Are you saying Fernando did not beat his non-rookie teammate? 🤔

@toastet

MOM and the active wings sound more interesting than a rear wing opening in designated areas.
MOM works only over 290 km/h and peak over opponent is at 345 km/h so designated area or not with availability under <1s and these speeds it will only work on long straights and on some tracks it just won't work at all, looking at Monaco or Budapest or Qatar or or or...
